My Giants - Eagles Breakdown (it is long, but has diagrams)

AnishPatel : 12/13/2007 3:52 pm
Here is my Giants- Eagles Breakdown. It took me a while creating this. Hope you guys enjoy this. It took me from after the game sunday to last night to complete this.

Link to the PDF version for easier reading or printing it out. 5.19 MB

http://savefile.com/projects/808578341

1. Formation Page - The formation page lists the different formations by our offense during the game. The number in the box given is also listed in the film breakdown sheet. So if you see for offensive formation 2, refer to the formation page for that formation.

2. Film Breakdown Sheets - Show a log of information of Down-distance, hash, offensive formation, and other key info.

3. Runs Vs the Eagles - I took some run plays I liked or saw from the game and diagramed them out

- I wrote descriptions for each of the run plays as well. Few of them were just descriptions and there are no diagrams for them

4. Pass plays Vs the Eagles - I took some of the pass plays and basically used it to study the blitzes our offense had to deal with.

5. Play by Play Sheets - This includes every play penalty or not, and has them diagramed out. 8 pages of that, for 64 plays, INCLUDING penalties.

6. Front Composite - This sheet gives us what techniques, were being played throughout the game. I divided this into hashes, zones, and down and distances to help us examine trends. Also listed what they were in, nickel, even front, odd front and so on. I also included stunts and who was stunting

7. Blitz Composite - This helps us understand where the blitzes were coming, and where they were being called on the field. Left Hash, Middle Hash, and so on. Also, I indicated who was coming on the particular play.

...
so it would be burress and boss left
freebluelove : 12/13/2007 11:34 pm : link
and shock toomer right...the same pass as the one to burress last week but this time to boss...a very fast and short route...plex is going long and toomer shock the out or short hook or whatever obscures the boss route and takes the dbacks away from the play..if one of those lbs gets smart and drops back eli will have to put touch on it but more likely boss has the moves and just torches him

Awesome stuff.

Just curious (for Anish, dorgan and other coaches), does this stuff go into a database at all? It seems to me that it could be useful to put into a database to find patterns with visualization software. I know it won't replace regular analysis, but it may come up with a pattern that isn't easily visible.
What, no color coding?

Great stuff Anish:)

Yeah it does. This is all long hand stuff, but then you put the information in the system. ODK, it's called it and from there you generate reports.

I hadn't been on line for a while and just saw this - unbelievable - I won't be able to look at it closely until later - but I appreciate all your effort here and I know I'm going to enjoy going through this!!!

Just wish there was more detail. Slacker.

...I'm guessing that Anish will have his hands full doing this for his team during the season.
Yeah BH,
AnishPatel : 12/14/2007 3:57 pm : link
but it's easier if because I have access to a wide shot and tight shot of the game. So it should go alot faster than using Fox's coverage which sucks in my opinion.
So Anish

Watching the game as a coach, wahst your take on Eli?
I think he is a good qb,
AnishPatel : 12/14/2007 4:19 pm : link
don't know if I like our system when it comes to passing. One great philosophy that Coach Davis, the OC for Texas, said is if your offense has more than 5 or so breakdowns, you ask yourself as a coaching staff. Are we asking them to do too much mentally? Or are we asking them to do too much physically? I would say mentally, because not only is Eli and his skill guys on the wrong page, but we seem to drop a lot of balls, which indicates lack of focus because something else could be on their mind.

That thing needs to be fixed. It's hard to know exactly without sitting in on their meetings and watching their practices. But Eli will be fine, it's the system I worry about more. If Eli fails it would be because this franchise didn't surround himself with the proper coaches on the offensive side of the ball. Ben had Whisenhunt, Rivers and Brees had Cam C. Who did we have? Huffy, who is now in Cananda. And our qb coach was Gilbride who last held that position when he was with the Oilers in '89. In my opinion we failed to surround him with good coaches.

Gilbride is a step above Huffy, but overall I am not really a fan of him. I love his running plays, but still I think when you invest in a pick and a qb like Eli, you better be damn prepared by giving him everything so he can have a chance to succeed. Surpisingly even through all this, we still make the playoffs, which shows me he has a lot of potential.

what is up with Sean Peyton?

...what did he do to get our guys open when here an what has he been doing now?

Have not followed really but remember some nice open long routes when he was here. Think I remember someone saying they let Collins go for first read only towards the end of that year (vikings game?)...eli seems much smarter than collins..that must play into things
