If these kids have to do 4 years of school and two years of mission, when do these kids actually play? Do they do the mission first and then play 4 years of football? Do they play first and then do the mission? What years did this guy play?
that as a 3rd or 4th round pick, Kehl will be the steal of the draft. I don't know how many of you remember my linebacker charts but I took athleticism and production and tried to combine them. Kehl was #1, above everyone...Connor, Rivers, Mayo, etc. This guy has INSANE athletic ability, like truly insane, productivity is excellent, and character is definitely Giant-like. I'm going to have to re-post my charts.

Kehl was certainly the guy I wanted. I hope it works out for him even though I am a homer. I firmly believe between Wilkinson, Pierce, DeOssie, and the rest, Kehl is the piece that will solidify our LBs for years to come. I believe it will be a position of strength with good depth and special teams talent.

There really is nothing to complain about through 4 rounds. Even if you don't love every player or had others in mind, the guys they got in the spots they took them are all very good. It's obviously too early to judge, but the early indications are that Reese and his staff really know how to draft.

i have to admit i was pretty tunnel-visioned on connor prior to some other bbier's suggestion that i look deeper (ChicagoMarty for one). i'm no draft expert, but i've been desperately waiting for a LB upgrade, so i focused on them and only them.
I went to BYU and served a mission as well. One of the guys I served with during my mission was a football player at BYU so hopefully I can shed some light on one of the questions that was asked in this thread.
Someone asked about Kehl and his 2 years missionary experience and 4 years at BYU, when does he play football. Typically guys go on their mission when they are 19 years old. Kehl probably went to BYU for 1 year and then served his mission. For the most part it is difficult to stay in top physical shape as a missionary, he probably did not have access to the gym like he did as a football player. He serves the two years, comes home, gets back to BYU and on the field. I wouldn't be surprised if he is already married as well since we Mormons / Latter Day Saints have a tendency to get married young.
The Giants have lost two LBs who started in the Super Bowl, Mitchell and Torbor. You may consider Torbor a backup, but he started a good part of the season as well as the playoffs.
True, but he did start and we swept our way through the playoffs and the Super Bowl. Even though he was a "backup", he was pressed int starting duty nd did not hurt us in our incredible run. He started for the Giants in past yewars, and he started for us when wee needed him last year.
