WOW

Giants love those 3 cones. 242 seems to have real good measurables

I'm loving this draft. Just another player who made plays on a good college program.
Wow!
BigBlueBuff : 4/27/2008 1:07 pm : link
The NFL Network guys raved about him and I was thinking about him based on his 3-cone. Sounds like a pick for the future at WILL and a guy who will be a great special teamer for the next couple of years. Bad news for Tank Daniels...
Mayock says he's a good fit at WILL
soulrebel : 4/27/2008 1:07 pm : link
and and immediate contributor on special teams. Fran Charles is a fan as well ... they think he'll have a long career in the NFL.
our highest 6th rounder
BigWinner810 : 4/27/2008 1:08 pm : link
194th overall

We had 3 6 round picks. I like the trade. Great 3 cone, and I'm sure he's a guy that Reese is high on.
Excellent value
montanagiant : 4/27/2008 1:08 pm : link
Great pick for the 4th round. I heard this kid on Sirrus the other day, extremely articulate, very mature.

I am loving this draft so far
What did we give up for this guy?

Totally worth it. Great draft pick. Highly athletic. NIce long clip of him here.
OLB Bryan Kehl - ( New Window )
Love the pick assuming we did not give up a lot to deal
Mike in NY : 4/27/2008 1:08 pm : link
Extremely athletic, productive, and a high character guy. He was one of the top 2 OLB's on my board since Connor and Gooden got drafted
looking at the chart it wud say either a

yatqb : 4/27/2008 1:09 pm : link
The kid can start at WILL for us at spme point pretty soon, and will be a good blitzer AND a good guy in pass protection.

seems like a good player, though. Another "character, leadership, work ethic" standout with good production and good measurables...

The guy looks amazing on film.

I definitely wanted another OLB with a motor. He looks like he is it.

Loved the pick
FYI
gmen99 : 4/27/2008 1:14 pm : link
Espn's player rankings have Kehl at 80 overall, and the 4th best linebacker in the draft. We drafted him at 124.

He's also apparently older than most draftees because he took 2 years off for religious reasons.
Enoch, right on!
Dubs : 4/27/2008 1:15 pm : link
Love this pick. Fantastic. Well worth the sixth.

Production is the word for this draft.

Solid guys from major programs who will contribute IMMEDIATELY! I'm psyched, in case anyone had any doubts.
I'm wondering, now that we have Kehl,
Dave in N.Westchester : 4/27/2008 1:16 pm : link
if Wilk. pans out at Will this year, does he move to Mike (when Pierce is done), and Kehl takes over at Will? Wilk did play all 3 positions at Georgia Tech, and would give the Giants a more athletic player in the middle.
Gil Brandt and the guys on Sirius
UberAlias : 4/27/2008 1:17 pm : link
Liked the pick. gil said there's my guy when they announced the pick. He also said he can play all the LB positions. The Sirius guys liked the Gianst draft, were a little questionable on the Manningham pick, but really liked the draft. Brandt mentioned their erasing earlier mistakes with Manningham, persumably referring to S Moss.

This guy might be the biggest impact player of this draft class... On specials alone this guy will be a stud. And you can bet he'll push GW for the WILL. He's smart, a good character guy, and has a motor that doesn't quit.
love the pick
Steelreserve42 : 4/27/2008 1:18 pm : link
but isnt GW viewed as a WLB? Not saying they couldnt switch, but do you think its for competition or you think one of them could play Sam
Like the posistion
mattsimo : 4/27/2008 1:18 pm : link
Dont know much about the player. Im a big Geno Hayes fan(who is still on the board). Obviously i dont know as much about these players as the giants staffm but thought Hayes would fit our mold. Fast and athletic from a big time program.

Love this blurb from his college coach:
BigBlueBuff : 4/27/2008 1:19 pm : link
"Kehl is just a flat-out player. He is one of those guys who is always around the football and is a ball hog and makes a lot of plays," BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall said. "I have talked to some people out there and they tell me one thing about this guy, he is not only an athlete but he has got a mind that is absolutely unreal and football is important to him."

"I told Bryan he better play in the NFL," Zac says. "Bryan's a real straight-line kind of guy. He doesn't know if he's going to be able to play on Sundays or not. He promised me when we were 15 that he'd let me be his agent when he got drafted. Watching him in spring, I'm just getting excited. I told him, 'You have to play because that's going to be my paycheck.' I'm so excited for him. It's like the Bryan Kehl highlight tape at practice."

Kehl starred at Brighton High, where he earned all-state honors in football and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. He played for BYU as a true freshman, seeing action in 11 games at linebacker. Kehl returned from his LDS mission in time to play last year, recording 30 tackles and blocking a punt in the season-opener that led to the Cougars' only points against Boston College. Bryan's older brother, Ed, who was a defensive lineman at BYU in the mid-1990s and now owns a car dealership, was adopted by the Kehls when he was 12. "Ed and I are probably the closest," Bryan says. "We have a really strong bond. He always used to pick on me, but it was a brotherly love. I think I'm a tougher person today because of it. At least, that's what he tells me. He would die for me, I know that."
