Please don't kill me..if discussed already..I'll delete.
Jeremy Shockey has finally gotten his wish.
The Giants have agreed to trade their disgruntled tight end to the New Orleans Saints for a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick, FOXSports.com has learned. The deal is pending league approval, according to a league source.
The compensation is the same the Saints offered New York back in April prior and during to the draft ... and it was turned down.
The move comes one day after Jason Taylor was traded from Miami to New York's NFC East rivals in Washington. According to a report on SI.com, the Giants had held discussions about a three-team trade in which they would have ended up with Taylor, the Saints would have landed Shockey and the Dolphins would have received a pair of draft picks. I wouldn't use him like they used Shockey, but Jacobs is a monster and I could see him as a very good blocker and it's another way to get him and Bradshaw on the field at the same time.
With Smith coming on and now Mannghim in the wings, Eli has only so many balls to go around...
Those grapes ain't all sour....
Drew Brees' Fantast stock just shot up.
Thanks for the memories #80.
Shockey had 57 receptions, 619 yards and 3 td's last year.
Shockey is gone it appears. Let's not make him out to be either the best player ever to wear blue or that he was some sort of liability on the field.
If we didn't play the Saints this year, I'd feel better about the trade. But even then, I think we will have a glaring need at blocking, and we will have to utilize 1-dimensional TE's to do the two jobs shockey did well.
My main concern is when we play Dallas. Shockey always stretched the field against them which opened things up for other guys. I don't see Boss being able to do the same. I hope I am wrong.
Who are the big TE's to watch in college football this year? I only know the University of Miami's roster and they don't have anything coming out next year.
Kiwi can go to LB.
Tuck can move around.
Jacobs has lined up at WR for us before.
Shockey has been split out wide.
You guys act like a guy can only do one thing for a football team.
I guess you scratch your heads every time Vrabel catches a TD from Tom Brady too.
JS gone keeps this team focused on repeating & not fiddling for answers as to why their TE isn't on the field with them.
I'm relieved.
Giants will and can win with or without him.
Shockey is probably too sensitive, but F the media for constantly ragging on him like he's some sort of criminal. You'd think the guy was Pac Man Jones with some of the crap that was writen about him by the beat writers and some posters here.
It would take some balls now though, considering they just one the Superbowl without him.
