Just now on the NFL Network.
This release had nothing to do with Plaxico's legal situation. The Giants all along have been saying they would be willing to take Plaxico back if he would make some concessions and do what they asked. They were not seeing the attitude changes they were hoping for.
They were also offended that his agent was kind of shopping Plaxico around. The feeling was, "Hey we were willing to stand by this player and give him another chance, and now your making noises that he might want to play elsewhere.
Also Papa insinuated that they were not please with the tone of the Plaxico camp in regard to the on going discussions in regard to the bonus money they had taken from him.
Plaxico was selfish, now it's time for the Giants to be
Rich Eisen said, "but everyone could see how much the Giants missed Plaxico at the end of the year" Papa said, they would make adjustments, siting the Patriots of a few years back who won a Super Bowl without a big time receiver.
Now I'm not saying that the guy can never go out again but don't you think that with what's going on he could stay out of clubs for a couple of months.
All it takes is some other guy at the club to shoot a gun or something and Plax would be the headline of the story.
These are small potatoes and wouldn't void probation ... but it's an indication that, as Steve Smith said, "Plax being Plax" was not going to change. Even without jail Plax was certainly going to get probation. It would seem to be just a matter of time during the season that he would be gone. I assume they thought it is time to cut bait.
we'll bee fine
