UGA Signings (Non Giant)
Defenderdawg : 4/26/2009 11:28 pm : link
From Online Athens:

"Notes: At least four Georgia players reached agreements to sign as undrafted free agents as of Sunday night.

Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe will sign with Baltimore, according to his agent James "Butch" Williams. Ellerbe, who shared a Sports Illustrated cover with Stafford and Moreno before last season, had off-field issues early in his college career, but led Georgia in tackles as a junior before having only 33 as a senior when he was slowed by a knee injury.

Fullback Brannan Southerland plans to sign with the New York Jets, his mother said.

Receiver Kenneth Harris said he will sign with New Orelans and receiver Demiko Goodman said he will sign with Pittsburgh."
whatever happened to warrick?
oipolloi : 4/26/2009 11:48 pm : link
he was the only pick i got right last year (actually i did not even get him right because I had the Giants taking him in the 6th)

Demiko Goodman
Fenrir : 4/26/2009 11:48 pm : link
I've been thinking he'll be a stud for the last four years. Tremendous speed but never put it all together. If we didn't have Hedgecock I would have been pushing hard for us to sign Southerland. Would have loved for us to sign Ellerbe as well.
Interesting with Otis Wiley
Bino5 : 4/26/2009 11:51 pm : link
He averaged over 10 yards per return as a punt returner this year.
nice write up on Wiley
sharkly : 4/26/2009 11:59 pm : link
...However, the team that does draft Wiley, even if he slips to the fourth or fifth round, may find they got a steal. ...

interview with scout.com. click on the cached version of the 3rd link. unfortunately, the direct link won't post here on bbi because the google url is too convoluted.

3 year deal for Field?
lono801 : 4/27/2009 12:42 am : link
I dont recall The Giants ever doing this before...

Am I wrong? They must really like this guy...
3 years is pretty standard
bebopson : 4/27/2009 12:43 am : link
the signing bonuses are small, so there's minimal cap hit to cut them.
Field
lono801 : 4/27/2009 12:45 am : link
6-7 270...

Thats Canty big...
Field is a big dude

not sure what the timing of it means. obviously everybody is scrambling to get guys signed, so maybe the 3-year term sweetens it and they give him a little more bonus. it really doesn't matter though since they can be cut with virtually no consequences for the cap.

it's been said that it's better to be a udfa than a 7th round pick because potentially you have more options. this may be such a case. you are probably right though, there is probably some variation in the contract terms for udfas.
Kenny Mainor of Troy
TempleGiant : 4/27/2009 1:24 am : link
was invited for a tryout on May 7th. He's a DE/LB but would most likely play LB for us.

BBI as as source in Garfolo"

And the diehards over at BBI have their own report on S Sha'Reff Rashad (Central Florida) signing with the Giants."
Sweet!

I'm breaking stories in the NY press!
Any word on Brial Toal?
njm : 4/27/2009 8:15 am : link
I'm sure the injury history was a problem, but well worth a UDFA contract.
Looking at Garafolo's update...

He got almost everything from this thread and just gave credit to the original sources linked here.

Happy to do your job for ya, Mikey!!!
Can we keep the signings to GIANTS players and not players
Curtis in MD : 4/27/2009 8:28 am : link
on other teams?

Its hard enough to keep up with everything.
Mainor is an interesting prospect...
barens : 4/27/2009 8:36 am : link
he could have been more sought after if he didn't get injured last season.
Anybody have any info on this Kenny Ingram guy?
Curtis in MD : 4/27/2009 8:55 am : link
6'6...and in some places he's listed as a Safety.
Can someone recap who we got. I started going this thread
Kevin in Annapolis : 4/27/2009 8:58 am : link
but it turned into a pissing match at one point, plus people are reporting on other teams. It would be nice to have a list compiled.
Kenny Ingram
Curtis in MD : 4/27/2009 8:58 am : link
Quote:
Kenny Ingram (6'6" 230) OLB: Personally one of my favorite potential NFL players. He came in out of JUCO as a SS, but moved to LB his Sr. year. He's a big hitter and is great in coverage. He still has room to grow because he was trying to stay slim to stay at safety. Still learning how to play LB, but is a great athlete for the position and could start out as a nickle LB and grow into a full time player. Late rounds or UFA.

Running back from Wyoming?

Ingram, who has an internship to complete his degree in rehabilitative services this summer, has been working out with former FSU assistant track coach Tom Shaw in Orlando. Some teams are interested in Ingram as an outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. Others see the 235-pound Ingram as a safety.

Just sayin'. Come on, Jerry, Shaun O'Hara's getting lonely.
Love Otis WIley,
Jim in Forest Hills : 4/27/2009 9:49 am : link
He was pretty much the best player on that MSU defense. If he can play specials, he's got a shot to make the squad.
DE Alex Field
MindlessBanter : 4/27/2009 10:04 am : link
remember UVA ran a 3-4, so he probably translates more to a DT in the 4-3. He was OK, but I doubt he makes the team ultimately.
Kenny Mainor

DE from Troy has an invite

Quote:
Defensive end Kenny Mainor, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the team’s third game, was invited by the New York Giants for a tryout on May 7. The team wants to see how his knee holds up, but Mainor participated in all Pro Day drills for scouts.

Another interesting note in this blog, only one Miami Hurricane drafted this year (Spencer Adkins.) That's pretty crazy when you think of how many NFL players were produced by that program.

DanMetroMan : 4/27/2009 10:48 am : link
POSITIVES: Explosive defender who plays with a nasty streak. Fires off the snap, quickly shoots the gaps of the offensive line, and nicely redirects to the action. Possesses a short burst of speed bearing down on ball handlers.

NEGATIVES: Easily controlled at the point by a single blocker or altogether engulfed by opponents. Marginally productive, and has never been a consistent starter.

ANALYSIS: Hendricks is a size/speed prospect whose abilities on the field pale in comparison to his athletic skills. He's a developmental prospect, but he must quickly produce in camp this summer for any chance of sticking on a practice squad.

PROJECTION: Free Agent
