I've raved about Barden and Sintim DURING last college football season.

Jerry, hire me as a scout!
Can we think he's going to be really good...
arcarsenal : 8/17/2009 10:46 pm : link
...without comparing him to the greatest defensive player of all time after one preseason game?
Sintim...
njbigblue56 : 8/17/2009 10:47 pm : link
Knock on wood stays healthy he will get major minutes this season.

He is exactly the only thing giants are missing on this D...
could really be a monster

coming in from the weakside on a blitz.

Sintim is a SSLB
The dude plays hungry
Glen in SoCal : 8/17/2009 10:50 pm : link
He wants it. The whole defense has been playing with a lot of energy.
Yes Anak I know
U-turn : 8/17/2009 10:52 pm : link
I would like to see him come in from the other side. Not have to mess with a TE and speed rush. lots of talent for that and perfect for a 3-4 even though we don't run a legit 3-4. great pass rushing LBs are hard to find.
gmanjoe...
Chris in Philly : 8/17/2009 10:53 pm : link
bein' gmanjoe...
in addition to the rush
KBird : 8/17/2009 10:56 pm : link
he was manhandling blockers in the run game. Once he got his arms extended nobody was moving him. Excellent signs.
Chris
U-turn : 8/17/2009 10:57 pm : link
go change your pad dude there is a Giant game on.
Take a bread from being an asshole.
The guy is built like
mrvax : 8/17/2009 10:57 pm : link
a bodybuilder. I'd never seen him before tonight. One of the announcers said Sintim looks like Tuck!!! A sack & a forced fumble is impressive for his 1st NFL practice game.

Sintim's
Will Allen/Peterson : 8/17/2009 11:18 pm : link
Pass rushing ability was no secret. He can turn the corner, run the arc and wreak havoc with his relentless motor.

He's going to have an immediate impact as a pass rusher and special teamer. Very bright future for him, especially if he becomes competent in coverage.

Opposing offenses are going to be in a world of trouble in 3rd down passing situations.
Osi,Canty,Tuck,Kiwi,Sintim
U-turn : 8/17/2009 11:18 pm : link
Wow be afraid QBs.
Can he play
NYSPORTS98 : 8/17/2009 11:21 pm : link
without his hand on the ground?
Sintim looked fantastic tonight
BSIMatt : 8/17/2009 11:29 pm : link
watching him play made me happy the Giants kept all their picks and didn't make a draft day trade.
Make room for me!!!
Stu : 8/17/2009 11:30 pm : link
.
That's where he's special: With his hand in the dirt.
Thomas : 8/17/2009 11:32 pm : link
So much so that I wondered if the Giants (as a 4-3 team) were looking at him as a DE. He is pretty much the same size as Osi.
Guys, please keep it in your pants
Matt M. : 8/17/2009 11:34 pm : link
1) The next generation of LT? When LT entered the league, he could do it all from day one.

2) Sintim rushes the passer well, but he is not good at all in coverage (technique and instincts are lacking) and he's OK in the running game.

3) He has a lot of potential, but that's what it is at this point. He would get abused as a starter.

4) He did this against 2nd and 3rd stringers tonight.
the last time I saw a Rookie LB play like that was
U-turn : 8/17/2009 11:40 pm : link
LT. Andy Headen had a great preseason one year but that perfomance was more LT and if he can do it in real games he will quickly become a nice weapon and feared by QBs everywhere.
Not sure why
NYSPORTS98 : 8/17/2009 11:40 pm : link
the Giants had him rushing the QB with his hand in the ground non-stop. He's supposed to be a linebacker standing up.
U-turn
Matt M. : 8/17/2009 11:42 pm : link
As a rookie, from day one, LT was the best player on the defense. Why? He could do absolutely everything. He covered RBs, TEs, WR, he blanketed the run, and he rushed the passer. He was "LT" from day one. There is no comparison between LT and Sintim. If you don't see that, you need new glasses to replace your rose colored ones.
Matt - I disagree
mrvax : 8/17/2009 11:49 pm : link
Sintim is just as good as LT was. Did you even watch the game tonight?

mrvax
Matt M. : 8/18/2009 12:02 am : link
Yes, and there was no LT on the field.
mrvax
Stu : 8/18/2009 12:04 am : link
Just call him CS from now on.
is it fair
chris r : 8/18/2009 12:06 am : link
to conclude that Sintim is not tiny?
Matt :
mrvax : 8/18/2009 12:10 am : link
I'm just pulling your chain. I will say Sintim looked like the best rookie linebacker the Giants have had in a long time. Very impressive debut.
This is
Spyder : 8/18/2009 12:17 am : link
going to be so much fun watching this defense destroy OL's everywhere. The Giants bring it like no other team in the NFL right now, in waves, with fresh bodies up and down the line in rotation.
The next LT
PaulN : 8/18/2009 12:18 am : link
No doubt.
Any chance the Giants can unretire #56 for him?
Stu : 8/18/2009 12:21 am : link
That would be the coolest!
Spyder
mrvax : 8/18/2009 12:21 am : link
Even more excitement is knowing how damn good the secondary is. If a QB is so frazzled he wings the ball in desperation, either the receiver will be slammed into next week or there will be an INT. I've never seen the Giants D look so dominating (on paper for now) since I started watching every game in 1993.

wooo hoooo...
BlueLou : 8/18/2009 6:24 am : link
Most importantly, he looks like a Giant. Tuck, Jacobs, Snee, Canty, Barden, Hedge... all these guys look like "Giants" at their respective positions. We need something to counter Jughead as the franchise, no?

Seriosuly, I like the way Sintim played DE on passing downs a lot, who wouldn't? And that may give the Giants some nice roster flexibility re TEs, LBs, or DBs. The Giants have more than one nice looking CB to consider for the 5th CB roster slot... Stoney's looking like a great bargain as a #7 and B Johnson and Wright have looked good as well.
Will be the biggest impact LB
U-turn : 8/18/2009 6:28 am : link
since his 56ness.
Sintim is one of those players you can safely say,
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/18/2009 7:21 am : link
it's just a matter of time and experience. He's going to be very good.

He plays like somebody I'd expect the Steelers to draft, and that's a good thing.
I was on early
Jay in Toronto : 8/18/2009 7:42 am : link
based on my buddy at on the faculty UV who has contact with football. He was very high on him as a "smart" player. Pierce's successor?
I should be a scout for the Giants
Anakim : 8/18/2009 7:46 am : link
Just saying. I was raving about him months before the draft. He was a player I watched during the season
I love Sintim
Steve in South Jersey : 8/18/2009 7:49 am : link
but saying he is better than Armstead or in a class with LT is just crazy.

To be the biggest impact LB since LT means
JohnB : 8/18/2009 7:57 am : link
surpassing Carl Banks. Thats kinda tough, Banks was a monster at LB.
Wow you guys are seriously overreacting
Wellington : 8/18/2009 7:57 am : link
Sintim played against 3rd and 4th string OL that likely will not even make the team. Yeah he looked good but it's not like he beat up on Jason Peters. When he does that I'll be impressed.

His size alone will make him a tremendous mismatch on blitzes. What RB aside from Jacobs/Clinton Portis would be able to block him? I don't agree with him playing on the DL tho, we have an embarrassment of riches there, and need help at LB.

Speaking of which, I thought Kehl Goff and Wilk all looked good tonight.
Wilk looked good in many occasions. Problem is he's never healthy.
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/18/2009 8:02 am : link

Well he has
bubba0825 : 8/18/2009 8:07 am : link
Thickness which was clearly established in the game thread last night
Sintim is perfect
Marine One : 8/18/2009 8:48 am : link
to blow up that duo in Philly, McTavish and Prick. Wildcat blaster with speed and power. I also agree with Jaws on his comment about putting your QB in harms way with a safety teeing off in the Wildcat. Seems Kenny Phillips is perfect for that role, and I can hear it now when Mc@#$% gets hurt or goes lame in this experiment, oh, the horror! ;&
Like I said after camp
JonC : 8/18/2009 8:52 am : link
Sintim stands out big time, an excellent start for him despite being against backups.
OK, that's quite enough Anak..

Because we're going to look deeper and find out you watched all these games that never actually happened when you "scouted" Sintim and Barden.

Wahoo Wa!
BigWinner810 : 8/18/2009 9:27 am : link
I loved rooting for Tiki, and now I'm going to love rooting for Canty and Sintim.

It's going to be great watching the pass rush this year.
I can't be the only one
Enoch : 8/18/2009 10:00 am : link
who forgot about the uniform number change and momentarily thought that it was kind of unfair of the couching staff to leave Kiwanuka in there to beat up on 3rd & 4th stringers.
Ah yes...
arcarsenal : 8/18/2009 10:04 am : link
Leave it to gmanjoke to compare Clint Sintim to the greatest defensive player in the history of football after just ONE preseason game against backup players.

I love what Sintim brings to the table.. but Jesus.. can we relax with some of these absurd comparisons?
arc
JonC : 8/18/2009 10:05 am : link
The Barden comparisons have really died down, eh? *grin*
Jon...

Wait, you mean he didn't go out there and dominate NFL level competition right out of the gates? There's gonna be an ADJUSTMENT period?!?!

;)
All in good fun.
Curtis in MD : 8/18/2009 10:13 am : link
I don't think anyone honestly expects him to be the next LT.

All I said was that I was a big fan of Sintim while he was playing for UVA & I hoped he would be there when the Giants picked, your saying you should be a scout? lol
This guy will be a starter by the third week.

Best LB prospect since Banks and Taylor.
but..
jdubinski : 8/18/2009 4:58 pm : link
