When will the league take exception to Flozell Adams' BS?

Wellington : 9/29/2009 12:56 pm
From last night:

Should be suspended.
Well,
Jim in Forest Hills : 9/29/2009 12:58 pm : link
that's one more for the file there..

Choice got called for a leg whip, too....

bunch of cheating MF'ers.
Jesus Christ
Figgy2989 : 9/29/2009 1:00 pm : link
Now what would have happened if Peppers got hurt on that play, would Fuckzell still have gotten a $12K fine. Unbelievable.

He must have had about 3 or 4 penalties last night, this ass lacks discipline.
Was that called?

he is such a dirty motherfucker.
BLUATHRT : 9/29/2009 1:01 pm : link
with him and Roy Williams on the same team for years, is there any question why the Giants always used to come out of the cowboys game so banged up.
I've never wished injury upon any player
Overseer : 9/29/2009 1:01 pm : link
even on often dirty players (and hated division rivals) like Dawkins. But last night when Adams went down on that big Cowboy run, I didn't give a shit if he was injured or not.
incredible
Bradshaw #44 : 9/29/2009 1:02 pm : link
I hope the NFL takes notice on this guy. I guess it " no injury no foul."
I believe the penalty was called on that play.

Flossie's day is coming.
I continue to say a suspension is in order.
Exit 172 : 9/29/2009 1:06 pm : link
It's not at all silly to say that, either. An NFL GM this past week also said the league needs to consider a suspension here.
Wellington, great find...
gmen4ever : 9/29/2009 1:07 pm : link
IWe need to send a copy of this link to the NFL...attention head of officiating.
if there was a penalty
Bradshaw #44 : 9/29/2009 1:08 pm : link
on the play against Adams. 2 weeks - 2 fines. They need to suspend him a game for him to get the message.
The league is inconsistent
jcn56 : 9/29/2009 1:09 pm : link
Look - they went out and named a new freakin' penalty after Roy Williams, and managed to issue a whopping 1 game suspension after the guy racked up 3 in a row. Flozell isn't going to be dealt with by the league.

I sure hope Tuck gets a good piece of him though.
Two biggest disappointments last night:
Exit 172 : 9/29/2009 1:10 pm : link
1. Cowboys win.
2. Adams' injury wasn't serious.
Choice was flagged on his leg whip,
Del Shofner : 9/29/2009 1:12 pm : link
which was a pretty obvious one. I don't think Adams was called for the one on that gif.
Wishing injury on someone is no better than sticking out your leg
CL : 9/29/2009 1:13 pm : link
when you get beat.
Bradshaw #44
FJ : 9/29/2009 1:14 pm : link
Adams was already fined after weeks 1 and 2. If he gets fined again this week, that would be 3 weeks in a row. Time for a suspension.
Not sure I would wish injury on anyone...
gmen4ever : 9/29/2009 1:15 pm : link
But a suspension for a long time serves the same purpose, especially since he wouldn't be paid! Ouch!
The guy is going to continue hurting people.
Exit 172 : 9/29/2009 1:15 pm : link
So if the league won't take him off the field, an injury might have to.

Nothing at all wrong with wanting to protect other players from this dirtbag's tricks.
he looks like girl
I Love Clams Casino : 9/29/2009 1:15 pm : link
when he does it....big wuss
Not to mention
jarrodbunch : 9/29/2009 1:15 pm : link
Last week's fine was for two incidents: One on Tuck and one on Osi.
he warrants a suspension
80offensive : 9/29/2009 1:17 pm : link
as obviously a fine does nothing (pocket change, why should he care?). To keep doing it repeatedly after being flagged/fined is terrible, and proof that a fine won't stop it. Even more egregious is his act that he isn't doing anything wrong.

Likely nothing happnes though.
I would worry if I was Romo...
MikeN in Ottawa : 9/29/2009 1:17 pm : link
this is a sign his skills have diminished greatly if he has to resort to this type of thing. The league, I would suspect, will be watching him closely which means a possible suspension for future infractions.

The result will be that he will be beaten more cleanly and Romo will get punished more as Adams has to stop this tactic in order to avoid fines, penalties, suspensions. This increases the chance that Romo will get hurt.
amazing that the league lets him get away with it
bxgiants4 : 9/29/2009 1:19 pm : link
he should get a 2 game suspension.
CL,
Randy in CT : 9/29/2009 1:20 pm : link
I hope his leg breaks off next game.
Just think
Dave in Hoboken : 9/29/2009 1:21 pm : link
if Flozell actually connected with all of his strength and at the right angle, he would/could put a player out for a very long time with a very serious injury.

I never wish injuries on someone, but with Flozell's continued history of this, I have to admit I was alittle disappointed he was able to walk off last night.

Sue me.
I was hoping Adams
Nimrod : 9/29/2009 1:22 pm : link
was done for the year, as well.

Fuck him.
I just don't see the logic in saying, "Injuring players is bad, so I

hope this guy is injured."

you're kidding, right?

This dip shit is going to end someone's career with his BS.

He should finish his first.
has nothing to do with logic
David in LA : 9/29/2009 1:25 pm : link
the hatred for flozell clearly stems from him being a repeat offender of that leg whip. he very well could have forced us to miss both Osi and Tuck for a few games, and he wasn't all that remorseful either. it's his insistance that he's going to keep using that leg whip where all this is coming from.
We're talking bout ethics here, right?
CL : 9/29/2009 1:27 pm : link
I can't think of a situation involving a player sustaining a serious injury being a positive. Ever.
Wow. what an easy player to hate.
the_fridge : 9/29/2009 1:27 pm : link

ETHICS?

your own ethics, that's what works for you.

I'm never ok with saying, "This guy has murdered so many people, we should murder him because murder is wrong."
If the guy trying to injure someone gets injured first,
Exit 172 : 9/29/2009 1:30 pm : link
there's nothing unethical about being glad he's off the field.
No, we murder him so he doesn't murder

Nimrod - is that the only way of dealing with it?
CL : 9/29/2009 1:31 pm : link
Or is it just an emotional, bloodthirsty response and craving for revenge?
OR, get him off the field (put him in prison)
Nimrod : 9/29/2009 1:31 pm : link
so he doesn't do it again.
CL is making sense
I Love Clams Casino : 9/29/2009 1:31 pm : link
these are emotional responses
Sometimes
Dave in Hoboken : 9/29/2009 1:32 pm : link
it comes to the point where would you rather have one guy out there repeatedly trying to seriously injure guys, or would you rather just have the one guy injured, so multiple other guys won't be seriously injured.

If the guy in question didn't have along history of this, then it wouldn't be fair. But the fact is he has a long history of doing this, and even after being fined last week, still tries the same shit the very next game.

So yes, I'd much rather the one guy injured than a bunch of other (innocent) guys getting taken out.
Nimrod
Figgy2989 : 9/29/2009 1:32 pm : link
You have to shoot yourself for that to happen, or start a dog fighting ring in your back yard.
See my post just above.
Nimrod : 9/29/2009 1:32 pm : link
I don't care how he's dealt with.

He's a repeat offender.

Adios Flozell, one way or the other.
You can't dehumanize someone for their actions.
CL : 9/29/2009 1:35 pm : link
Ethics is all about holding steady despite the circumstances. Either it is ok to cause injury or wish injury upon someone or it is not. Regardless of the situation.
My position is the correct one.
Exit 172 : 9/29/2009 1:36 pm : link
The league should get Adams off the field with a suspension. If they don't, an injury that would get Adams off the field is the next best thing. Doesn't mean I'm rooting for someone to intentionally injure Adams. Since we know he is trying to injure people, it would be better if he were injured first, to remove the threat to other players.

Enough with the self-righteous bullshit.
I think people are being ethical enough
Dave in Hoboken : 9/29/2009 1:36 pm : link
to overlook that in this special circumstance.
Firstly, I don't think he's TRYING to injure anyone.
CL : 9/29/2009 1:38 pm : link
Is he playing in a dangerous way, outside of the rules of the game, in a way that is likely to (and already has) caused injury? Absolutely.

Does it make me self-righteous to never, ever view an injured NFL player as a good thing? I don't think so.
Well no one can say whether or not he is trying
Dave in Hoboken : 9/29/2009 1:40 pm : link
to injure someone. But the fact he is just injured someone last week, got fined for it, and still tried the same exact thing the next game. So injuring someone doesn't seem to bother him.

And no one is saying it's agood thing for him to be injured. But if faced with the choice of having numerous guys get injured week in and week out, or just him, the choice is too easy.
And his comments after injuring Tuck
Dave in Hoboken : 9/29/2009 1:41 pm : link
don't seem to indicate he cares that he is injuring someone. Fuck him.
CL
giantboy : 9/29/2009 1:43 pm : link
what's the difference between a murderer getting put on death row then? Same thing isn't it, ending someone's life before it's pre-allotted time so that he doesn't inflict more harm on society at large? Isn't that akin to murder of a murderer?

Granted, murder and leg whips are different things altogether, but I'm not surprised to see such feelings being aired in response to Adams continued brazen violations.
Okay, so a guy like say, Eli, who plays by the rules:
Nimrod : 9/29/2009 1:44 pm : link
we don't wish injury on him. I'll buy that.

But a guy like Adams, who blatantly disregards the rules and is allowed to keep playing because the system in place merely penalizes through fines and/or possible suspension should be free from my wish that he suffer a season/career ending injury?

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. You can bet your ass if he effed up a team mate of mine and nothing was done about it, I'd break his fingers next time we were in a pile together.

And I wouldn't lose a minute of sleep over it.
It's negative consequentialism
jarrodbunch : 9/29/2009 1:45 pm : link
and doesn't require one to drop their own ethics. You're minimizing the total number oth injuries by having the offender who's injuring people get injured. Popper wrote an article in SI about this in the 90's.
Yeah. After he injured Tuck with his girly kick,
mudbear : 9/29/2009 1:45 pm : link
he said something to the effect of "Get up. If you can't get up, then don't get up. Otherwise get up." Something like that. Last night, I didn't watch the game, but my wife was watching, and I heard the announcers say at one point that Flozell was down. "Get up!" I was hollering in my head. What an ass! What a schlamoe! What a maroon! I would tell him so to his face, even if it did mean that I'd be flattened the next second. He is one great big huge piece of shit of a man!
The beat writers need to pick this up and make a story of it.
rasbutant : 9/29/2009 1:49 pm : link
Then maybe BSPN will pick it up, then the league will have to do something.
Flozell needs to be fined
mehi : 9/29/2009 1:50 pm : link
and suspened. That is out right wrong. This guy is going to hurt someone. What a cheat and a POS.
yeah sorry, not in Flozell's corner here
David in LA : 9/29/2009 1:50 pm : link
It's one thing to openly root for an injury, but when a dirty POS like that gets hurt, I'm looking the other way not feeling one ounce of sympathy.
mehi -
Exit 172 : 9/29/2009 1:52 pm : link
You mean hurt someone again.
I'll opt for a total lack of eloquence: fuck this fat fuck
Kyle : 9/29/2009 2:01 pm : link
I hope someone on a pass rush "trips" while bull rushing Flozell and "accidentally" falls into his knees.
CL, one of the reasons that
Randy in CT : 9/29/2009 2:09 pm : link
the move is illegal is due to it being easy to injure someone that way.

So whether or not he's "intending to injure" as such, isn't the point. He knows it can lead to an injury as he did to Tuck and later in the game he did it again! The fat fuck! (I meant you there)
what goes around
sshin05 : 9/29/2009 2:18 pm : link
comes around; Flozell's day will come and nobody will feel bad about it.
In legal terms, if you know, or should....
Crispino : 9/29/2009 2:22 pm : link
reasonably know the prohibited act may lead to injury, then you intend to injure. I think Flozell intends to injure if you apply that standard.
you can protect your QB by holding
Larry from WV : 9/29/2009 2:28 pm : link
even if you are beat on a play there is no excuse for that kind of cheap shot. I keep hearing the argument that we would want our o-line to protect our QB anyway they could, and I disagree. If one of our guys got beat and if opened up a free hit at Eli I am 100% behind grabbing a handful and riding him to the ground. However what Adams does is low class and is getting guys hurt. He should be suspended because fining him has proven to be ineffective.
CL
RB^2 : 9/29/2009 2:39 pm : link
The goal isn't to hurt him, it's to keep him from hurting others. Most people here would rather see his suspended. Since that doesn't seem to be happening, the choice comes down to hurting the culprit or allowing him to rack up more victims.
Yes, in a utilitarian sense, the league is better off having someone
CL : 9/29/2009 2:47 pm : link
that is going to cause injuries out of action even if it is due to injury itself.

This does not warrant "wishing" or being satisfied with injury to said player. It's black and white.
Tuck needs to hold him up while we get someone to dive at his knee
TD : 9/29/2009 2:49 pm : link
I'd be very comfortable with that play.
And I can near guarantee you that if after the fact, one of our player
sg0508 : 9/29/2009 2:50 pm : link
had cheap-shotted him that Flozell gets nothing done to him and our player is suspended and possibly done for the year. It's always the 2nd man that gets caught.

He's kicking people
GiantJake : 9/29/2009 10:54 pm : link
Not hard, but he's purposely kicking the guy's leg out. I can't see how that's not illegal.
Where is the justification for that leg whip on Peppers?
montanagiant : 9/29/2009 11:48 pm : link
It's a handoff for a run away from Peppers, so the argument that he is just protecting his qb is gone as well as saying he is protecting the HB.

To me he is doing this on this particular play in the hopes someone who is whipping his ass does get injured
