RIP Hope J

SecondCVA : 12/10/2009 1:45 pm
Hope was found dead today in her apartment. Cause of death is unknown.

Pray for her as she would have and has prayed for all of you.

Those are all the details I have.

For those of you that knew her personally, Kevin requests that you please do not call her mother.

I can be reached at rockythmpsn@yahoo.com or my regular email for those that have it.

As the details become available I will have someone post them here.

Just a great woman, very sad day on BBI...

I am completely stunned.

I very rarely post, but I try to read most of the site as much as I can. And I've always recognized Hope as one of the more incredible people on this message board. I've never spoken to her in person, but I have walked past her at Giants Stadium during the '05 Draft Day Party (The draft we got Eli) and another time at one of the few games I've been to. I recognized her face from seeing pictures on here, but I was too shy to introduce myself as a person that's only seen her on the internet.

I regret it now, as this is the last thing you'd expect. I hope that she is able rest peacefully for all eternity.
Hope will be missed

Even though I never significantly interacted with Hope, I could still tell what a wonderful person she was. You could tell what a wonderful person she was when those that didn't know her on a personal level are sadden by this. RIP Hope...
I wish I had the chance to meet HopeJ

From all who have posted today, she sounds like a truly wonderful person and all who had the opportunity to know her are richer for it. I wish my condolences to all my friends of BBI and her family who lost someone very special today. I know I shared something with her simply by being a Giants fan and not having known her. But my prayers are with he and my thoughts are with you all. RIP HopeJ.
Sad news

I'm a very infrequent poster even though I probably visit the site 3-4 times a day. Hope responded to a post I left before the Arizona game asking if anyone wanted to share the ride from the DC area to the stadium. She was flying into Newark from Tennessee and was offering to share the ride back home since she'd be on my way. She left me a voice mail after she arrived on her flight saying that she was exhausted and that she got a hotel room and would stay the night after the game rather than driving back with me. I was really disappointed, not for the lack of company driving back in the middle of the night, but because I was really interested in meeting her. I can tell from the outpouring here that it would have been great to have had that opportunity.
Dear God, please welcome Hope J in the warmest of ways

Nobody got more fun out of their love for the Giants than Hope J and we were honored to have her as a member of the BBI family. She was very wise and had such a big heart.

after the Falcons game this year. I spotted Hope near the merchandise tent, I'm usually shy, we've talked a few times on here before, so I decided to go up to her & meet her. I introduced myself & said, hey hope, Vin.R from BBI, she then said hey Batman! we then laughed & talked about the game. She then yelled over to Beez who was inside the tent for me to meet him as well. She was really comfortable to talk to, always smiling I noticed & very nice, just an all around great person.

R.I.P Hope

You'll be missed.

One of my last memories of Hope was her chasing your rebel son up the spiral stair case at the in the lobby at the BW this past summer. I would need a thesaurus to come up with all the good things I can say about Hope. I am truly stunned.

To me, Hope is as much of a symbol to the NYG as anybody. I know many of the players are affected by this as well. This past summer at camp Jacobs and his family were walking back to the locker room after practice. All the kids were screaming for autographs and Jacobs gave the ole "Now now, I got the family here," but in a joking manner. But he stopped for Hope, and only for Hope. Took a family portrait shot and afterwards looked over to Dean and I and asked "Do you guys need him?" and on her command, he would've walked back over to us and taken a picture with us. I'll miss her how she referred to Jacobs as "her baby." haha. If you ever met her at camp, you would see that the players adore her as well. It was unbelievable.

Hope knew everybody and everybody knew Hope. Brandon is going to rush for 200 on Sunday, much like Tiki did against the Skins a few years back. Like always, Hope will have the best seat in the house - next to Mr. Mara and Mr. Tisch

RIP
Tim

Remember when we went to Maggies 2 years ago at camp and Plax was there, and when he was leaving he gave Hope a hug and a kiss on the cheek? All the players loved her, everyone loved her. Can't believe that she's now been taken away from us
I always viewed Hope as someone who

Is there anything more moving ... Is there any better lesson in life then the legacy that HopeJ has left on BBI. I cannot speak of the woman as a friend or fellow forum contributor because I never had the honor to meet her or even exchange words with her on the forum. For whatever reason I'm one of those fanatic Giant fans that lurks on BBI. For that reason I personally feel a great loss. Shame on me. She is the type of person that makes this forum worth while,so I missed a great opportunity. There are so many things that are more imporant in life than the success of our favorite sports team. I'm not trying to preach here, but this beautiful human being was so special. From everything I've read on the site over the last 11 plus years and this unbelievable outpouring of love for her, she was an amazing, loving credit to the human race. Lucky for us she happened to love rooting for the N.Y.Giants. Unfortunately she'll never again be sharing her faith, love and friendship on this site or with any of you that had the good fortune to know her. My deepest sympathy to those of you that truly knew her and lost her. HopeJ, I hope they let you watch the games up there.

it was incredible. I really don't know how else to describe her. She was the MVP.

and btw, that was the first and only time I've ever seen her ask for an autograph. Hope is the only person I know who would've walked up to Plax midst jager-bomb and ask for an autograph. And thinking about it now, that autograph was definitely for some little kid.

I had to explain to my wife why I was crying over a woman I've never met. It is such a gift to move people with the strength of character Hope demonstrated at every turn. She resonated the love I continue to work towards embracing.

My love and undying thanks for raising the bar for all of us.

The only time that I was fortunate enough to make it to training camp was in 2002. I was by myself and the first morning as I ate a solitary breakfast, Hope came over to my table to welcome me to BBI and join me for a little while. During camp she was always the most pleasant person I have ever met. In fact I have some pictures that she and Second CVA took, I made arrangements to get the copies at one of the games. BBI has a lot of good people, but Hope J was the true heart and soul of this site. May she rest in Peace !!
the words in the title of this thread just hit me like a sledgehammer

"RIP Hope J"? this can't be real...I've never met any one of you...whenever i read comments made on BBI, the posters remain faceless as if they were not real people...but I had the chance to see pictures of Hope from one of the BBI get-togethers and hers was the only face I can remember from those pictures...perhaps because she seemed so genuine and happy...so whenever HopeJ posted a comment on BBI, I could always match a face to the name...she was, to me, the most "human" poster on this board...
Not that it is needed, but I cast my vote for naming

I never met Hope though I wanted to very much. Now I regret not making it to Albany and will forever. I feel as if I do know her and in a small way I do from her kindness, her humility and her ability to make us all behave on here without resorting to the lesser aspects of our natures we sometimes present on this forum. God bless you, Hope and I know you are now exactly where you always expected to be................

Absolutely shocking to open the BBI Front Page and see this news. Terrible.

I never met her, the only time I ever saw her was at Training Camp in 2007 when Tim Hasselbeck hit her with a ball he threw into the dirt. She was a great poster here.

It was not a week ago that she posted something about praying that a criminal who had died was a troubled soul who may now find peace, I was very moved by her post

Not enough people like that in this world, thank God she was able to touch so many people in her time

On a side note, thanks for posting rockyt and good to see you here again

I haven't even logged into this site in months, I have only lurkered as I usually do, for this I must.

The shear size of this thread is a tribute to the ways she touched the lives of all of us who come here daily for news about the Giants and about the world in general.

The Best Western in Albany and training camp in general will never be the same without Hope.

Any tribute thought up here or elsewhere will pail in comparison to what she meant as a person to so many stangers.

I am truely saddened by this and shall feel this loss for sometime. :`-(

Not much I can say that hasn't already been said. My only contact with Hope was from reading her comments on here. She always seemed bright and cheerful, and willing to help anyone. She was truly one of a kind, and judging by the responses she will be missed. My heartfelt sympathies go out to her family and friends and all the BBI commnuity that had the pleasure to interact with her.

Starting a "KEEP HOPE ALIVE" foundation for underprivileged kids would put a big smile on her face.

Hope was a woman of great faith,
Don in DC : 12/11/2009 9:22 am : link

Only Hope could be both the ‘Don’ and the matriarch of BBI as she was so universally respected and loved by all who read and participate here…
