Two guys who play safety, one of the Gmen's biggest needs,
Interestingly, they list Thomas as a CB. And Boylhart just writes his own profiles, the top 200 is put together by the chief editor, Rob something or other. Boylhart gives Thomas a late first round grade as a CB and a second round grade as a safety.
Are both safeties..but to my untrained eye they look more like a corner (Thomas) and a linebacker (Mays). Give me Thomas' cover skills with Mays' size and speed, that'd be something.
Brian shows leadership skills; just know that if you disrespect him, he will use those leadership skills to lead a team right down the field the wrong way. This kid has excellent talent and is the type of player you can build your defense around. He is not a boom or bust player as far as his play on the field. He is a boom or bust player if you do not respect him or if he has problems with how you coach him.
Boylhart agrees with you, but for different reasons...
Quote:
Everson is a good solid player with excellent overall skills to play in different types of defensive systems. He just doesn't have that lightning quick burst that a true pass rusher needs to have to be the type of player offensive coordinators need to be aware of when game planning. Right now, Everson is an effort DE and if you make a mistake defending him, he will make you pay.
Shockey, Plax, Osi have probably given the FO just about enough to handle these last couple of years....Price and TC/JR....that sounds like a real bad fit....
As a USC honk who loves SC guys on the Giants I don't want Griffin. Takes too many plays off, doesn't play the run very well.Great physical specimen who will grade very well at the combines.
True about Griffin. I haven't heard many bad things about Price like was written here. BTW,seems like Shaw will stay at Stanford and coach the running backs. Kiffin wants to call the plays himself and really just wants a qb coach which Shaw isn't. USC may look to Carl Smith once again.
USC was very interested to see what sanctions FSU received for 61 cases of academic fraud. USC believes that they will have to vacate some wins also thanks to Lamar Griffin but won't be hit with severe penalties which seems everyone is hoping for.
dubs - yes curious about the psych profiling of Price.
Sounds like inside stuff one could only get from an assistant coach or maybe coordinator. HCs wouldn't spill the beans with that type of info typically.
If Thomas is regarded more highly as a CB than S, maybe my Mark Collins analogy isn't too shabby.
The guy most likely to drop out of the top 10 is McClain
because of the position he plays. And the guys likely likely to jump into the top 10, by dint of positional desirability and high ceiling or top combine results are probably Mays, Davis, and Spiller.
Guys that won't drop back are the QBs, Dez Bryant, the top 3 players, Haden, Okung.
but rather the 25 who are likely to go earliest. For example, he thinks Iupati is too slow to play left guard saying that he can't pull, can't get out to the next level to block linebackers and is weak in pass blocking.
santa, physically, Thomas is as gifted as they come,
he just hasn't had the benefit of good QB play. But he will be a monster for somebody - Andre Johnson-lite.
If the draft went down like that, I hope the Giants would take Anthony Davis (provided he checks out mentally). I want him at OG for the next two years. Beatty at OLT, Diel at RT.
If his injuries check out, why not? Let's call it top 6. He's the top QB, the Redskins and Seahawks are in the market, as well as the Rams, though I can't imagine he'd go in the top spot (trade down). If Mark Sanchez can go No. 6, Sam Bradford can sure as hell go there or higher.
