The Giants have emerged with the first victory at the New Meadowlands Stadium they are building as 50-50 partners with the Jets. They have won the honor of hosting the first regular season game in September, the Daily News has learned.
there was no truth to the rumor..i dont like how the jets are getting all pushy all of a sudden..one afc championship in however long and all of a sudden they are trying to steal our shine..
The Jets got to close GIANTS STADIUM. It had our name on it and they got to close it. A stadium they didn't move into until 8 years after it opened because they couldn't strike a deal with Shea Stadium. I repeat, they couldn't make a deal to stay in Shea. Mind you, they're playing in the new stadium because they couldn't strike a deal to open a stadium of their own. And they got the fuckin' nerve--still--to feel like they have the right to open this one? Fuck the Jets!! And besides, it's not like they still couldn't play their first game at home by opening MNF.
would have been a game between the 2, Giants and Jets at home for season bragging rights.. course then there would have been a problem for fans, see how much these PSLs are worth with 2 fans to each seat!
If the decision were made merely on historical grounds, the Giant would go first for all the reasons that have previously been mentioned. However, since the debut of the new stadium will be a financial windfall to the team that opens the stadium, and since the Giants and the Jets are equal partners, it had to be a coin toss.
Of course my preference would be to give it to the winner of a 40 yard sprint between the Coughlin and Rex Ryan.
Had the last game in the old stadium, so the Giants should get the first game, they do not want to be second fiddle. Then stop acting like you are. Talk about a fuckin baby.
Goodell was probably like, "we've already got the Giants scheduled, just tell Woody and Co. that we flipped the coin already"....
The Giants would have to open on the road for them to play the Saints or Colts b/c those two will be playing each other to open up the season, right?
It looks like the Jets will be second fiddle in this stadium as well.
Priceless.
And I dont believe in this showing balls stuff - I am fine playing the Lions on opening day and getting the season started right.
But the Bears would be a fun opening game too.
;)
I would have preferred it to read:
"No Jets representatives were present after being notified last week of the coin toss"... & owner Woody Johnson was "outraged"
Of course my preference would be to give it to the winner of a 40 yard sprint between the Coughlin and Rex Ryan.
