He did get his ass beat for an NFL fight. No helmet. Two hard punched that got connected. Thats an ass kicking in the NFL. This isn't that caged wrestling crap
After that beating he was clapping and putting that "I just got my ass kicked smile on" .... he normally would have been trying to get at whoever he was going at it with but he was happy he got saved by Andre's guys. He knew he just got owned and it was going to be played over and over again all week. HAHA I loved it. Kudos Andre
Finnegan had already received a warning as well from Goodell earlier in the year. Maybe I'm wrong about it, but I thought he had a previous specific incident that caused some discipline.
He sure was a jerk in the game against us. That whole team seemed rather dirty.
Showed no remorse or regret... that wont win him favors when the league has to make a decision. If Johnson gets more of a fine/suspension it would be fucked up. Both threw punches (Finnegan threw the first), both lost their helmets, both went at it. The 2 should get the same if not more for Finnegan for his previous behaviour and comments about stashing money for fines
Finnegan has been fined for bad behavoir more than once this season.
There should be a certain measure of shame here, and the image should be shown only sparingly, so as not to legitimize such behavior as entertainment. It should be like MLB's refusal to air fans who run onto the field.
I really do not like seeing that. It is atrocious behavior and a terrible example of human interaction.
clapping and smirking like a fucking moron after the fight gets broken up. Hey, Cortland? You just got your shit pushed in on national television...glad you can smile about it
Andre is a beast...couldn't think of anyone better to give that little douche the beating he deserves
he lost his temper, and it's out of character for him. He's a clean player.Finnegan plays the game in a chippy way, he wants to draw you into this type of stuff. It's by design. You just can't fall for it.
Said something to the effect of, "Why is it I can keep my eyes closed and know exactly what team was involved in something like this and also which player is likely the direct cause of it."
Can't stand him, but he could not have been anymore accurate.
AJ sounded sincere and was never involved in anything like this. Hope the 2 players reactions is taken into consideration when the league makes a decision
As the NFL will make an example of them, and who benefits by this, none other than the Eagles, who will probably not have to worry about Johnson. Totally sucks.
saying Finnegan shouldn't be suspended and Johnnson should get 3 games. Esiason vehemently disagreed. Johnson, by all accounts, is a model citizen in the NFL and Houston. He has never been fined or suspended for anything. He has never been warned. Finnegan has multuple fines and warnings this year alone. Everyone who knows the players said this was so far out of character for Johnson that they are confident film review will reveal Finnegan pulling his usual dirty play for a while leading up to the incident and that this should be considered by the NFL offices.
I tend to agree with that last sentiment. I felt the same way during the Giants-Titans game. By no means do I condone taking matters into your own hands, especially when the personal fouls ensue. However, I can understand how it can get to that point when you have a dirty player getting away with stuff all game long and no calls come.
Just before the fight with Andre Johnson Sunday, Cortland Finnegan looked toward the Texans' sideline and yelled, "Watch this," according to the Houston Chronicle.
When the ball was snapped, Finnegan jumped across the line and went after Johnson high. It's a dirty play, the kind of the thing that Finnegan has garnered a reputation for. It could also come into play when the NFL decides if Johnson should be suspended or merely fined for going Manny Pacquiao on Finnegan.
About the Johnson-Finnegan fight ... surprising from Johnson. Finnegan lives for those moments, though. He pretty much comes out and says as much when he's interviewed.
One thing's certain. Finnegan has a couple sore spots on his skull this morning. After the adrenaline wore off ... ouch.
Cortland Finnegan may be the dirtiest player in the NFL....
a week or two after they played the Giants. He "seems like a nice guy," but he also makes no apologies about playing the way he does. He calls the teams that complain "soft."
I enjoyed seeing him get hit in the head twice by Johnson.
NFL Network's Steve Wyche predicts that Andre Johnson will not be suspended for fighting Cortland Finnegan late in Sunday's win over the Titans.
Wyche is speculating, but works for the league and should have a good feel for the way the NFL is thinking. Appearing on ESPN 101 St. Louis Monday morning, Wyche said he believes Finnegan has been "labeled" and "got some street justice" from Johnson. Finnegan is often among the players fined by the NFL on a weekly basis. Wyche predicts that Johnson will only be fined.

Give Finnegan some credit. He may be a Major-League asshole but he takes a helluva good punch. He didn't seem even mildly hurt by Johnson's haymakers.
The NFL cannot fine/suspend Johnson more than Finnegan.
He sure was a jerk in the game against us. That whole team seemed rather dirty.
As for Johnson, he has no history of this stuff, so fine him 5 grand and let it go.
Someone will do a Vegas Joey Porter on him. He should watch his back...

The goal here is to grab Finnegan by the hair and slam his face into the deck.

It actually received a little more credibility by the fact that Johnson is considered a normally clean and respected player.
