mmmm I am slightly intrigued but what Ive JerseyJoe : 1/5/2010 7:13 pm heard about Pewell so far |

Phil gets it JerseyJoe : 1/5/2010 7:38 pm one of the few.....let's pray we play agressive for once and go hard for a coveted guy who's a good fit for us |

Is this yet ANOTHER case of the Giants being too slow? JerseyJoe : 1/7/2010 6:19 pm Or too cheap? Fewell just came in and so far nothing but a couple reports that we are taking our time....UGH Are we about to let yet another prime candidate slip through our fingers once again? Ryan the only other potential better fit looks like hes staying in Cleveland. I really hope the Gmen know something we don't but with their spotty history hiring coaches I am skeptical at best. arc he isnt Gregg Williams JerseyJoe : 1/7/2010 7:59 pm but he is the best thats out there now that Ryan is gone. And unless another name pops up that we dont know of, the alternatives aren't really close in terms of fit, style etc. for this personell. |

Fewell is the best available JerseyJoe : 1/8/2010 11:06 am He has good experience (not a never has or a has been) and can adjust the scheme to fit personell. He has run multiple looks and formations not just Tampa based on what weve read from multiple sources. And tons of reports that players greatly respond to him and that he's a great teacher of the game. Would Romeo be horrible? Probably not as this D with its talent and a couple tweaks could make a mediocre DC look good. But I still think Fewell is the best fit or a relatively thin field at this point. |

This team is going to have a huge turnaround next year JerseyJoe : 5/25/2010 10:26 am Recent history has shown when the expectations have been lowered we coincedentally always seem to play best. After the poor showing on the field last year many are dismissing the talent that they called Super Bowl caliber just a year back. The talent hasnt changed all that much, a few players lost but quite a few quality ones added as well. Just like when we switched from Lewis to Spagnuolo I beleive all here will see the difference a good DC makes. Alot of life is based on faith in something not necessarily proven. I have faith this D is going to rebound in a big way under Fewell and the talent is certainly here to do so. Add an offense with maturing young high potential WRs and a vet pro-bowl QB, and you have a team worthy of Super Bowl contention. |
Quote: |
I love the fact that while we added a couple peices JerseyJoe : 6/27/2010 5:45 pm but we havent necessarily overhauled the core of this team on D. Did we add in the draft? Sure, but many of the guys are considered guys with learning curves and arent expected to be core players right away. It will really underscore how much a difference the DC makes (hopefully for many here who didnt get it when the D plays 10X better between Lewis and Spags) |

this D also is gonna be sick under Fewell JerseyJoe : 6/27/2010 11:47 am I cant wait. Reese doesnt beleive we need a dominant MLB in this system. He was right about the WRs (which was probably a bigger risk than this), Im going to beleive him on this one. Probably one of the top X factors in getting this years D back to a dominant level is C-Web. I think the answer will be a resounding yes and whats further Terrel Thomas may be an even better #2 than anything Spags had to work with. Corey held down the likes of TO, GBs gifted wide recievers and then Randy Moss in one of the most explosives Offenses of all time in the Super Bowl. You dont do that by accident or by some fluke. Further, This is a CB who played for a major college program and had 14 INTS! He is the goods and I believe he will resume his dominant play under a good DC who utilizes his talents as a press CB properly. The other huge X-factor is a return to ferocious Dl play. Will we go back to swarming and attacking on D? Especially swarming and creating chaos on the backfield like we did so well under Spags when our guys for the most part were healthy? I believe under the tutelage and adjustments by Fewell and Dunn, coupled with better health upfront, we could have the deepest and best Dl in all of football. Very few teams can match a quartet of Tuck,Osi,Kiwi, and Canty when all are healthy. And this isnt even considering the promising wealth of youth in the stables with most having very high pass rush potential in JPP,Sintim as well as solid DTs like Joseph and Alford. The O should continue it's play of last year and be EVEN better in the pass game as Nicks and Manningham continue to mature and improve. Im betting OL play will improve too woth Beatty taking the LT spot 9if he's ready) and diehl moving inside. Couple that with a bigtime improvement in D and I think we will see a team of similiar greatness as the one of late 2007 and most of '08. |

Ahhh so perhaps for you the fourth time is the 'charm' JerseyJoe : 6/27/2010 11:39 am I mean this will be the fourth DC CWEB has had . We have already seen a pattern of good-bad-good for CWeb (and pretty much the D collectively) which happened to 'magically' coincide with the quality of the DC. Will you finally see the light if CWEB and the entire defense magically improves again under a good DC (which I confidently feel Fewell will be)? |

1. Fewell JerseyJoe : 8/8/2010 12:03 pm 2. Fewell 3. Fewell Ive said this pretty much right off the bat like I did with Spagnuolo , he is going to be a huge upgrade over the previous DC. And DC (esp with an offensive minded HC) is one of the most impactful 'positions' in football. Also actually seeing them in action in preseason is going to be a big tell. I remember pretty much from the first couple pre-season games under Spags you saw us attacking. A swarming to the football that we rarely saw under Lewis. If we see similiar things and more cohesion in the secondary that will be a very nice additional indicator hopefully for the much more positive things to come. |

with the talent on D combined with an actual legit DC JerseyJoe : 8/8/2010 12:07 pm we may see Thomas prediction of a dominant D come true (maybe not 85 Bears but something awfully good like 07 playoff Giants or even a tick better) albeit a year later! |
Quote: |
cant wait to see the impact Fewell makes JerseyJoe : 7/13/2010 10:59 pm on the coverage schemes and the pass rush...Im thinking similiar impact as when we went from Lewis to Spags |

Hey a game plan on D that actually is effective! JerseyJoe : 9/13/2010 5:39 pm I like this Perry Fewell guy! LOL... On a serious note, that was a great article. I am truly excited to see how this D continues to improve under a legit DC. Ive been saying this for awhile now. I expect the D to be as good as it was when we had our last good DC, Mr.Spagnuolo. And if the team stays healthy with all these recent additions like Canty,Rolle,Boley and the rooks we could be even better! |
Quote: |
Its one thing to have an effective game plan JerseyJoe : 9/13/2010 6:05 pm and it's another to coach it ,get the players buy in and making it work. I think Fewell can do all 3 well and as they continue to improve this D has a chance to be REAL good. |
Quote: |
Perry Fewell should run the Offense too JerseyJoe : 10/3/2010 9:52 pm lol |
Quote: |
uh oh under a legit DC JerseyJoe : 10/11/2010 11:54 am Thomas' predictions of last year don't seem so far off now ;) |
Quote: |
As I said on a few previous threads JerseyJoe : 10/27/2010 11:19 am We are very close to regaining that '07 and part of '08 form and perhaps even surpassing that. We have shown some absolute dominance at times as we are continuing to gel as a team this year. Imagine showing the kind of dominance we have hinted at with more consistency? And weve done it with giving the opposition ridiculous starting field position in addition to an amazing 21 TOs in 7 games. Thats super impressive. With how pretty darn good we are already playing, just Imagine if the opponent doesnt get an average start of the 40 yd line anymore? Just imagine if we can drop the turnover rate even by just 50%? |
Quote: |
Thomas, arc can be a dweeb for sure JerseyJoe : 10/27/2010 12:00 pm but I am still trying to educate him ;) As for Thomas' lofty predictions if we had better health and Fewell running the D LAST year, it might not have been that far off. The talent was certainly there if Phillips and others stayed healthy and we had a DC with a clue. |
Quote: |
lol arc JerseyJoe : 10/27/2010 12:05 pm how's that Fewell prediction looking right now nit wit? |
Quote: |
If it keeps going this way then JerseyJoe : 12/26/2010 4:58 pm Only silver lining is to hope for two consecutive blowouts, a 9-7 finish, and missing the playoffs entirely. It will be yet another second half of season collapse by TC and company and perhaps finally force our overly loyal organization to finally bring in a coaching staff that will fully utilize our talent. |
Quote: |
blow up the coaching staff JerseyJoe : 12/26/2010 5:49 pm and watch how the O and D magically improves next year without any huge changes in talent |
Quote: |
Receivers need PHDs to run routes in this offense JerseyJoe : 12/26/2010 7:17 pm Ive been saying this for years and its been confirmed many times over in the media and by the players themselves. The players have to overthink and cant just ball. This is ridiculous and will hopefully finally and mercifully end with a new coaching staff. Yup a coaching staff overhaul is going to be a huge key here. We just have to cross our fingers this overly loyal and slow organization makes the move and is ultraggressive in bringing in the best coaching changes |
And I think GMENLTS is far from the biggest jerk on this site..
Hi!
Go to extremeskin.com and look at the rampant homerism each and every April, when those idiots are convinced that they are going to the Super Bowl. Somewhere between the 1st 1/3 and the halfway point of the season, their posts start calling for the coach's head, the team to be blown up, etc.
GMenLTS wants Giants fans to be better than that, and expects that they should be because they are a whole lot smarter than most fans. If that premise were true, then GMenLTS ought to understand everything that I wrote in my post, especially that the fans feel that they are the aggrieved party, and have every right to criticize the Giants. Stated differently GMenLTS should understand that it is precisely because Giants fans are a cut above most other fan bases, that they are presently entitled to be royally pissed off and to be calling for the heads of Coughlin and his staff, because it is impossible to fire the players and impractical to fire even a few of the players, while it is entirely possible and in keeping with tradition to fire the coaches, even if a case can be made that the coaches are not entirely at fault.
GMenLTS may be the salt of the earth if you know him personally, but his posts smack of rampant homerism, and entitlement to call everyone who doesn't share his point of view "a bad Giants fan." He is way off base, was way off base last week in criticizing Giants fans who were upset at the loss to the Eagles, and is way off base this week.
I'm still not sure I should even be bothering but what the hell.
As far as I can read, for a whole lotta words, it really didn't say much.
First, I'm a jerk, biggest on the site. Now, I am a jerk, not sure about biggest on the site but I guess that'll be compliment right now.
Next, everyone is pissed off about the results of the past couple weeks. Anyone who's not pissed must have missed the games. The difference between someone like myself and SPRE or some of the other people I've been calling out, seems to be that I'm trying to look at this objectively and not try to pin blame on any one certain individual in what is most likely, the biggest TEAM sport there is. He rips TC for his onside kick decision meanwhile we have a coach here that stated explicitly with the time left and situation, he wouldn't have had the hands team out there either. He would make sure his players knew onsides was a possibility, but the coach knew the game wasn't over yet and thought field position was going to be important. Unfortunately, Wilkinson/Calhoun felt like being dumbasses.
Dodge? Well no shit he's been inconsistent. But it's pretty clear the guy has a leg and I guessing SPRE is the kind of guy who gets pissed that we let Brad Maynard go. Is the punter a risk? Yep, but who else is out there? Who's your solution SPRE? Name names, come on. You'll flip a shit probably if we let him go and becomes a career guy on another team.
Basically though, SPRE's entire argument against Coughlin the past couple weeks for his in game decisions, is entirely based on hindsight. Cool. You know what we should have done after it happened Give yourself a pat on the back Captain Hindsight!
Additionally, you, jerseyjoe, and the rest of the dipshits always come here to rip team/coach only after losses. Of course, nowhere to be found while we're winning.. This place is dead during the week after wins. Why no complaints about his stubborn offense when it works?
Next move, state the obvious about the season. It started off shitty, then became really good, then we blew the first eagle game, then rolled off a few more wins, then the past two weeks.
Past two weeks have been completely unforgivable. Ultimately, blame lies with the staff, I accept that and admit that all the time in these redundant arguments. I even am on record already that I'm fine with changing the staff assuming we miss the playoffs. So you can take this quote:
"Turns out that you are certainly not knowledgeable if you think that this team was properly coached this season, and you are certainly not a good fan if your position is that we should keep that kind of coaching around for another season."
and shove it up your ass.
Lastly, and this shit is just gold, SPRE just told us that Jerrah taking action with a 1-7 team somehow proves that we should take action with a presently 9-6 team.
I can't get into an argument with someone who thinks the situations are remotely comparable. Happy Holidays SPRE!
I didn't criticize a single fan for being upset that we lost. Do you think I sit there after a loss and say, "Hell yea!"? I was furious.
But I did criticize people for being reactionary fuckwads who love to use their amazing hindsight superpower to rip the coach whenever they see an opening to do so.
Better root hard for those skins and packers this week so you can finally get your wish.
And Beez...you kill me, man...you kill me.
Anyone silent during the good times can go fuck themselves.
And when I call out the rest of the coaching staff negatively I also get ripped.
Lol some of you folks have nothing better to do than flame someone mercilessly to somehow elevate your own miserable existance.
ANYWAYS I openly praised Spags saying that if he brings the Eagles D mentality (AND properly execute it) to this team it would fit our personell like a glove and we would flourish. And fortunately that happened.
However with Fewell we played too much off coverage and zone vs. the aggressive in your face D that Spag played. I thought as the season wore on he would play more bump and run (with our larger athletic CBs) similiar D like Spags but he alternated back and forth way too much IMO.
Since you want to cherry pick my posts (in quite an obsessive/irksome manner BTW).
A post you didnt cherry pick:
Parts of Fewells D was an excellent design
JerseyJoe : 2:55 pm
but his alternating of offcoverage defeats our biggest strength: the pass rush . I thought he was truly going to focus on what we do best but he hasn't . Im a fan and an optimist at heart like many here. We all hope the 'new' guy who says the right things would actually do them. This team needs to play in your face physical football on D and that's how the personell is structured big, fast physical guys. Too much zone and cushions by the CBs kills that. We alternated back and forth too much. A Spags type D is what we need. Sue me for thinking Fewell could do that.
I wanted to really beleive in Fewell and at times this D was absolutely dominant but I think we just try to too much on both O and D, rather than focusing on what these team can do best and just doing that. You want to bust my balls for that or my optimism as a fan go right ahead.
is anyone leaving this thread with a changed mind? do you consider your time well-spent, having insulted someone and had them insult you back, even though neither budged an inch on the central debate?
I'm not trying to be Ghandi - believe me, I disagree witha lot of what I see written here - but I honestly don't get why some of you spend SO much time writing theses about why poster X is a moron. you couldn't waste your time more efficiently if you tried.
1) He has answers that professional coaches don't
2) Knows the Giants plans when it is shown time and again that he doesn't have a fucking clue
3) Will REPEATEDLY throw out football terms and terminology and not know a damn thing about what they mean
I'm not even listing the fack that Joe shows up only when things aren't going well as if his suggestions were ignored, and that is the reason for the poor play.
In all, he's quite a grand fucktard.
Otherwise, you can change the /scared to /fucking clueless
See thats how it works for many of us, we follow the team, read BBI to keep up on the latest but just don't have the time to become involved with the community here. Then there are the times when we can't help but join in and those are for the extreme highs and lows, maybe it is emotionally driven and some need to share that emotion with a group focused on the same situation.
The regulars are gonna act like they do and it will never change, but I am not buying their elitist BS for a second. Just like any group there are some good and some bad but BBI just has seemed to have developed a level of doucebaggerty that is well above average, even for the internet.
So carry on all and just know that as you are calling people out, maybe even calling them stupid f#@ks, there are those on the outside watching this blend of tragic comedy and absurdist drama despite its ultimate meaninglessness.
God I hope I spelled all the words correctly or i may be made fun of

His responses actually help prove some of the points he was defending against.
Kyle, the word "bodied" was too ncie of a word. I think it needed some violence to it.

his countless hours of ass kissing his way into the graces of BBI regularism. He was correctly called out but any response he makes, regardless of its actual truth or merit will make him the winner, especially in the eyes of those trying to maintain their status here through their own ass kissing (see previous two posters).

Annnnd ... he dresses like shit.
No issues with Pitt and good lord that Rex gif is disturbing david.
Post during both good and bad times, or post whenever yo feel. Just don't expect to post, giddy about failure and as if you knew something all along and not expect to get slammed for it.
It's just a poster who desperately wants to feel valued and important around here and his posting has pretty much created the opposite effect.
