is like a punch in the gut. Such a shame. I really enjoyed watching Kiwi play when he was healthy. Seems like he became a real team leader right from the start, too.

Not knowing Osi had a chronic hip; now it looks like Osi's going to be OK. And now this, the JPP pick is looking better and better.

career-threatening nature of Kiwanuka's injury is really a surprise to anyone. Probably-chronic neck issues generally mean that playing football is a bad idea.

The most optimistic way to read this is Reese trying to lower Kiwi's market value so that they can get him signed to a cheap incentive-heavy "1 year to prove you're healthy" contract. But part of me hopes that Giants management isn't that cynical.

Removing the disc is there really a 'healthy' scenario that come out of this? Seems more of a scenario where Kiwi risks it or doesn't and that is the decision.

I knew what Kiwanuka was likely faced with, and I hope he makes the best decision for himself even if it means retiring from football.

I'm sure Kiwi and his agent really appreciate Reese putting those comments out there.

I'm sure they wished this had never happened, but they have to face it now.

Their absolute worse nightmare is the specter of a paralyzed player on the field, with questions about why they sent him out there. Explanations about how "he wanted to play" aren't good enough at that point.
