I don't see how he could pass a physical. He can't play until midseason, his knee is f'd.
If he does leave, so be it. The Giants aren't losing '07-'10 Steve Smith, they'd be losing a guy who's entire game is based on quick cuts/movement who may never be the same player.
Unless SIMMS's source is in the Philly or Giant organization, then the only way he'd have this info is if it were "out there" somewhere. If it were out there somewhere, it'd be spreading all over the place. Somebody would've corroborated or found the original bit of gossip it came from.
We Don't know that.
This injury could be career ending or career shortening.
I doubt the Giants Med staff would let Smith just walk if
there was any indication that he would recover and have a future with us or the NFL for that matter.
I trust the Giant org. on this as shitty as it is to lose S. Smith.
that if he plays again, he'll not be the SS we know. It is not something I'm saying now to justify anything my friend. If the Giants(who are not always right) deem him unworthy of being signed then I'll go with that
Over Steve Smith. Ive been consistent on this throughout and think even when healthy hes not the player painted out to be in some circles here. And hes not healthy, he just underwent a major major procedure that makes an ACL repair look like a walk in the park
Did sign him, then why would you think his knee is shot, if they did sign him then they obviously have a different opinion. Why did Coughlin talk about a long recovery, if he turns around and signs with the Eagles and he is back on the field soon, what does that tell us?
And he signs with the Eagles, and is on the field "soon", it tells us the Giants have horrible doctors, the Eagles have horrible doctors, or the Eagles have a serious rehab program.
More likely, no matter where he ends up, he won't be on the field until at least midseason because his knee is actually f'd like everyone says it is.
it's because they are confident that he is a long long way from being able to play effectively. As much as it would suck to lose the player he was when he was healthy, if he's far from health, and far from being the player he was, it doesn't really bother me to see him go somewhere else, even to a rival. Maybe they're wrong in evaluating his health and recovery chances, but given how valuable he's been to the team, I assume they're going to examine him as carefully as possible before deciding to let him get away.
to say anything on Steve's Facebook. I felt it necessary w/ my previous comment on commending him for looking for the best deal possible. Him being an Eagle was never a thought in my mind
Goes to show you more and more its a business for the players as much as it is for the teams/owners/GMs
looks even worse than Smith playing for the Eagles.

@tspicchiali Trying to find out for myself what's going on

I'm gonna wait this one out.
You have to be on the email list, but he may have visited with the Eagles.
Maybe....
it means they're taking a cheap flyer on something that would be a good complimentary part for them, if he can play.
IF.
if they signed him to a long-term deal, they're on crack.
