The "playbook secrets" angle is generally a joke when you're talking about division rivals. The Eagles' coaches watch lots of Giants film-- they know the Giants' offensive system just about as well as the Giants' players do, if not better.

Giants receiver Steve Smith is passing the time during the lockout by having fun with Photoshop.
After Smith’s teammate Osi Umenyiora got into a war of words with LeSean McCoy of the Eagles, Smith decided he wanted in on the fun. And he did it by posting a picture on his YFrog account showing himself, Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin celebrating the Giants’ Super Bowl XLII victory, and placing within that photo a photo of an empty Eagles trophy case.
In other words, Smith wants to remind everyone that the Giants have won a Vince Lombardi Trophy (actually three of them) and the Eagles haven’t.
NFL Network had a lengthy discussion of Smith’s statement, and Smith also posted a video on Facebook in which he discussed his general philosophy toward how people react to his comments.
“People aren’t going to like everything you say, you’re going to have a lot of guys that hate, and there’s going to be a lot of people that like what you say,” Smith says in the video.
In this case, Eagles fans are going to hate what Smith said. Giants fans will love it.

Why would he care if Smith won't be ready till mid-season or late in the year. Smith would be a good late season or heaven forbid post season player for them to compliment their WR core.
If the Giants don't think Smith is healthy enough to sign yet, why wouldn't Smith take a one year contract with a few million guarenteed to play with the Eagles in 2011 and then become a Unrestricted Free Agent next offseason when healthier to sign a long term contract in 2012.
Hate to see him playing for the Eagles but if that's his best option available to him after his meeting with the Giants yesturday, then I can't blame him.
I can see how folks can be VERY concerned about Smith's serious injury but to not appreciate how he performed for the Giants is just ridiculous. Without him we may not have won the Super Bowl and I guess his 108 catches doesn't really amount to much to some fans.
sorry if im not crying in my soup enough about losing a guy who is probably the 3rd most talented WR on the roster and has major medical red flags. I guess i should be more gloomy about the situation.

his signifigence to this team have or have had their head in the sand. He is not only a very good rec. but he has the football instincts that make him so much more valuable than the stats indicate. How many times did see him hustle to pick up a loose ball just in case it was a fumble, or hustle to prevent an interception or long return after one. Could you say the same of the ever pouting Plaxico?? I know he is hurt, but if he has chnce to recover fully then this will REALLY hurt.(This team, and us fans)

OUR guys don't get the system sometimes. obviously Smith is a genius with it, but that doesn't mean it's going to translate to the defensive players.
