Since Week 3 the Giants decided that Webster would guard the other team's No. 1 receiver no matter where the receiver has lined up. Webster has rewarded the Giants confidence in him, by having 4 solid games against some pretty solid competition in DeSean Jackson, Larry Fitzgerald, Sidney Rice, and Stevie Johnson. He completely shut down DeSean Jackson and Sidney Rice. He did a fair job containing Larry Fitz, and for the most part did great against Stevie Johnson. I know he was beaten for a TD against Johnson, but that was more a great move by Johnson.
The only knock on Webster, so far this season, is his run defense. The Cardinals game comes to mind, he has looked less than stellar when teams run sweeps to his side.
Webster's "tackling" is abysmal.
5 Receptions for 39 yards ( 3 Passes Deflected, 1 TD given up)
Leon Hall vs. Stevie Johnson
4 Receptions for 58 yards (0 Passes Deflected, 0 TD given up)
The TD given up hurts Webster, but that was more a great move off the line.
But let's forget that.
The 2nd pick saved the game. Nice job so far this year.
But he made plays to win the game against both Arizona and Buffalo. Giants arguably lose both games if not for Webster's big plays.
It seems almost at times if he is setting guys up. Early in the game he plays off and gives up some easy receptions in front of him. Then, boom, at a crucial moment he jumps the route he has been playing off all game.
