A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that Andy Reid will have to fire defensive coordinator Juan Castillo in order to stay on as Eagles head coach.
The rumor in Philly is that Steve Spagnuolo will replace Castillo, allowing Reid to hang on for at least one more season. Many Eagles fans want Reid gone, but it would be in the organization's best interests to keep most of the offensive staff because of the monetary commitment to Michael Vick. Castillo has been an utter flop in his transition from O-Line coach to D-Coordinator. He has not showed an ability to maximize his personnel, often playing "man" corners like Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in zone coverage.

Rams keep Spags for another year and dump him for a "name" coach when they're ready to move
He got offered a HC job while he was here, he took it.. if he becomes available again, the only thing we can do is potentially offer more money. Ultimately, it'll be up to him.
But seriously, you can't believe everything that comes out of Philly. We'll see what happens at seasons end.
I do think it's going to be harder to get Spagnuolo a second time around.
If Tom misses the playoffs, you can bet the house he only comes back if he agrees to clean out the coaching staff. There is no way in hell that the Giants will allow Tom to come back with all the current assistants, especially if the defense continues to quit on PF.
And I doubt seriously that Tom, as loyal as he is, will choose to quit if he can't keep the current staff. He's no lock to get another job at his age, even with his record. He was forced to get rid of Hufnagel, this is no different.
Spags will never be the Giants DC again.
Again, all bets are off if the decision is already made to get rid of Tom if the team fails to win the division. A new HC will want his own choices for OC/DC.
We are wasting Eli's best years based on "stability".
This is becoming a joke of an organization.
What you will also never see in St. Louis is any of the players blaming each other, chirping about coaches or schemes, or any cracks in the facade. The Rams are a team that still is sticking together and if the ownership values that (and can see it), then it is entirely possible that this staff will get another year.
So before we go off spouting about the "terrible job" Spags has done in St. Louis, it might be worthwhile to actually look at the facts.
This is just a rumor. If it is true the commissioner would be all over them.
If the ship be sinking, in the immortal words of Michael Ray Richardson, it's time to bail.
Fewell deserved another year.. he really wasn't bad last year. But if we continue to suck defensively, it'll probably be time for a change and I think a change will be made.
I get the sense that the Eagles are quick. It's almost they realize, ok this was a bad hire, let's fix it quickly and find the right fit.
If Spags is available somehow, The Giants need to seriously take a look at him as our future HC, you cannot let that man go back to Philly.
It would be poetic justice if the Giants win Spags in the offseason over Philly, with last season the Eagles taking away Smith from us. I'd prefer the Coaching genius over the key player.
But Fewell has to go, and if, I say if, Spags is released, then he may be the best option for us, if he wants to face the pressure of returning to this team....
Alrighty then....
It quotes a "league source" which could be just about anyone and that there are rumors in Philly.
Well, there's rumors in NY as well.
This is not tampering. It's rumor.
But even if we dont make the playoffs... Giants will take a few days to decide on a new HC, then once they decide on a HC would they force Spags on the HC? Or will he want to intervue a few candidates of his own? By then he'd probably be gone too. Spags wont stay in the market long if he's ok going back to DC.
Now if he decides to test the market for another HC opportunity, maybe we have a shot if no team offer him the HC job.
Now you want me to explain your comments for you?
Re-read your opening post on page 1.
Unless our defense improves dramatically next year it won't matter.
And then tried to force him to sign a new contract as LB coach over a weekend.
