Biggest Difference between NYG and DAL according to Jerrah

Eli

Romo had a hell of a year for them
MetsAreBack : 1/23/2012 7:41 pm : link
what an odd thing for Jerrah to say, especially considering a month ago he was telling everyone it would be a travesty for Dallas not to win the division the way Romo played this year.
Awesome

Amazing that he fails to realize that the biggest difference stares back at him in the mirror.
Defense IMO

It has to be the QB
steve in ky : 1/23/2012 7:46 pm : link
Because it couldn't be the GM. Oh Wait the GM is responsible for the roster, including the QB. Who is the Dallas GM these days, hmmmm.

Not A Romo fan, but he doesn't deserve this from this clown.
The biggest difference is in

Reese v Jones and Giants coaches v Dallas coaches.
Nice vote of confidence for Romo
mfsd : 1/23/2012 7:47 pm : link
Poor Jerrah feeling jealous
I will say this though
MetsAreBack : 1/23/2012 7:49 pm : link
Eli would not have overthrown a wide open Miles Austin to ice the division
I'd have thought QB was the one thing that was closest
BillT : 1/23/2012 7:51 pm : link
Romo hasn't shown the ability to be clutch that Eli has but he's pretty darn good. Across the board though I think the Cowboys are just a notch below the Giants in almost all phases of the game and in some areas (like the secondary) a couple of notches.
Romo is a great fantasy football QB.
arcarsenal : 1/23/2012 7:51 pm : link
He can put up the numbers but he's one of the last guys I want under center in a big game.
Reese...

not having a GM is terrible for Dallas.

Cowboys owner/coach/spokesman/G.M. Jerry Jones ...

Romo gets a bad rap for the 'big game' stuff
MetsAreBack : 1/23/2012 7:56 pm : link
i guess because he spent a weekend with Simpson in Cabo and b/c he blew that Seattle game (your starting QB shouldnt be your snap holder to begin with)

For the most part, he's played well in big games -- he was terrific in both games against us. Not his fault his secondary couldnt stop a nose bleed, and Terrance Newman loves to get hurdled over.

Moondwg : 1/23/2012 8:01 pm : link
well said.
Eh..
arcarsenal : 1/23/2012 8:05 pm : link
Romo has played 4 playoff games.. only won one of them and outside of the win against the Eagles in 2009.. his playoff games have been nothing to write home about. He has 4 total TD passes in those 4 playoff games.
Well, give Jerry credit
ChathamMark : 1/23/2012 8:10 pm : link
He's right.
well 2 of those 4 games
MetsAreBack : 1/23/2012 8:10 pm : link
came early in his career. The 2nd (against us) would have looked better if Patrick Crayton wasnt dropping passes. The third of 4 was Philly in which he played well. their team got the shit beat out of them in Minnesota (i loved it!) so hard to pin blame.

As for regular season, he was great in both 'big' games against us this year. In prior years, he did have that stinker in week 17 of 2008 at Philly, but in 2009, he won the Cowboys the division in week 17 against the same Eagles.

So he still has to prove himself in future playoff games -- but he's not just a "hollow fantasy QB" anymore, and he's certainly not the reason the Cowboys only went 8-8 this yaer.
I thought the big difference was
TheBigBlueOne : 1/23/2012 8:14 pm : link
we were cluttered in the front office, while the Cowboys were uncluttered?
Wow, talk about building your QB's confidence ...
Beer Man : 1/23/2012 8:14 pm : link
I like the shot at JJ one of the posters responded with -"The biggest difference is at the GM position. The Giants have a great one, the Cowboys have an empty suit.". Probably, Romo's wife.
Did Eli really have a much better team around him this year, though?
arcarsenal : 1/23/2012 8:15 pm : link
I think Romo is a very good QB but he's not good enough to carry a team the way Eli has this year with no running game (and in a lot of instances, no defense).

At some point, he's going to need to win some playoff games if he wants to be considered a top QB. Right now, he's pretty clearly in that 2nd tier.
the biggest difference was mid season adjustments
jel0514 : 1/23/2012 8:17 pm : link
Eli is great, dont get me wrong there is no one id rather have on THIS team, but romo is no bum as much as we would like to believe he is. Can you honestly say you would rather have alex smith or flacco over romo? Their ol was similar to ours, got better as the year progressed and both qbs took beatings. Their rb's as a group are probably a bit better than ours with murray proving to be very capable and jones, while often injured, can take any given play to the house. The wr core would have to be ours with austin being our cruz a few years ago. Their defensive front 7 has some serious play makers between ware, ratliff, and spears all needing serious attention. Sean lee has proved to be the player both teams though and brady james can still get it done. We have the edge at line, while they hold the edge at LB. Their secondary like ours was battling for the worst units in the league, at times seemed as if they were trying to one up each other in futility. The biggest difference our DC and players knew their was a problem and ADJUSTED. You cant say our talent, with the litany of injuries at the position, far outweighs there execpt where it mattered HUMILITY. Fewell and the rest of the bunch went back to the drawing board, found the problem at its core and worked on it. Where in dal the DC was more concerned with making headlines on page 6 than actually fixing what was wrong. I truly believe it was at all possible for dallas to have held on to wade phillips as a dc it would have made all the difference. Houston has talent no doubt, but phillips brought it all together even after losing their best player. Ryan just like his brother is a loud mouth, but unlike his brother he isnt a great dc and probably not even a good one. He sucked as a hc, but phillips would have definitely put a better d out there than ryan and its not debateable.
Biggest difference is ownership

The biggest difference is, Mara and Tisch have Jerry Reese, and Jerruh has, well, Jerruh.
LOL at the Cowboys and Jerrah's trashing of Romo
dpinzow : 1/23/2012 8:27 pm : link
About 22 other teams in this league would kill to have Romo as their quarterback...he wasn't the reason the Cowboys fell to 8-8, that atrocity of a defense was the reason
to say its as simple as jones is naive and homerish
jel0514 : 1/23/2012 8:29 pm : link
Its not like every move he has made has been the wrong one. He is an owner who wants to be involved, but theres no denying he loves the cowboys and spares no expense on his team. He likes to have his name out there which can be annoying but the boys are always hanging around and were a play of two from beating the giants and stopping this miracle run before it got started. The biggest mistake he made was not letting parcells do his thing down there. He was molding the team in the way he invisioned it and got ran out of town a yeae or two short of having a real solid team. Jones isnt on the same level of ownership as mara/tisch, but he isnt on the field either.
Romo is

playing w/ Tiger in a golf match soon...his hand healed fast...he should be working w/ his QB coach
It is true
Les in TO : 1/23/2012 9:07 pm : link
Eli is elite while Romo is a very good QB who has a consistent history of coming up just a wee bit short in big games.
Romo is the 2nd best
mrvax : 1/23/2012 9:12 pm : link
QB in the NFC East. If not for Eli, I would not mind having him behind center. JJ has a big ego and a big mouth. What a nasty and stupid thing to say.
I can't see Romo
AnishPatel : 1/23/2012 9:29 pm : link
without a running game producing all year long.

Eli dropped back 64 times, 58 attempts with 6 sacks, and hit 20 times in shitty weather with no pass protection OR running game.

I somehow get this visual of Romo freaking out on his OL and screaming at them. I can also see him forcing shit due to the pressure of trying to make a play.

I can also see him have a sick game stat wise, but 1 major fuck up that costs the game. So his stats might be 25/35 3 Tds and 1 int, with a very good Qb rating. So if someone didn't see the game they think he had a great game, however his one fuck up lost it. So I can see it both ways.
Eli? Yes

Coaching is the real difference
jel
stretch234 : 1/23/2012 9:52 pm : link
It is that simple as Jones. He thinks he is this incredible talent evaluator. He thinks he can coach. He is a meddler. Majority of owners want to win, but are silent. He is a loudmouth.
You guys are taking Jerry's bait...
tyleraimee : 1/23/2012 9:54 pm : link
Any idea why he would say something like that now? as we approach the Superbowl?

It is because the Cowboys are NOT a story and not part of any discussion. So, he creates a story to shift the spotlight (a dirty one) in his team's direction.

It does not matter to Jerry whether the story is positive or negative... he craves the attention either way.

Now, he has everyone talking about him and the Cowboys.

Totally agree, I would take Romo over many QBs in the league and Jones is a complete idiot.
The quote in context
an_idol_mind : 1/23/2012 11:07 pm : link
Quote:
Jones said the biggest difference for the Giants down the stretch -- when they caught the Cowboys by beating them twice in the last four weeks -- was the play of Eli Manning and the defense, although he praised his own quarterback, Tony Romo.

“We had good quarterback play,” he said. “But I’d say as a team, they just got better and better near the end. Their depth, that’s how I view us. I had counted – we had counted – on getting better, and we didn’t. We went the other way.”

Sounds to me like he's not bashing Romo but rather saying that Eli and the defense got better as the season went on, while the Cowboys didn't. He singles out Romo as one of the few people on the team who actually did play at a high level throughout the year.

I don't like Mr. Jones in the least but this is bullshit. Read the full article not NBC's piece of crap blurb. What Jones said was perfectly rational and also complimentary of the Giants. How anyone can pull the Romo sucks message out of this is just astonishing.

I bet Dallas fans are all over this. Sounds like Jerrah wants to switch sides of late, doesn't he?
