"Jets fans do show up and sell out even when the team is wrecked by the Kotites, Terry Bradways and Eric Manginas. We're probably the most hardcore fanbase in football.
I was listening to Nick Cannon this morning on the radio ask a "Giants fan" what position Justin Tuck played. She responded "defense." He then said "what position on defense?" she then goes "he kicks the football".
Half these Giants fans don't care. They don't deserve an ace GM like Jerry Reese."

They might have "sold out", but lots of those Jets games in those days had 20,000 empty seats, at both Shea Stadium and Giants Stadium. No way. IMO, Browns fans are the most hardcore fanbase in football
Honestly, there isn't that big a difference between the two fanbases. Lots of Jets fans are rich millionaires (which goes against their "blue collar" stereotype), and lots of Giants fans are blue collar (which goes against the "rich" stereotype).
All we've been hearing about in the media for the past 2+ years are how amazing the Jets are. How New York is now a Jets town. How they're the best team in the fucking world. Now that that farce has come crashing down on their heads, their fragile little egos can't handle being put back in their places. I love it. You reap what you sow, and they deserve everything they get. Our team is as gutsy as they come, and our players fought their asses off to get where they are right now. The Giants deserve all the good things that come their way.
and it will NEVER be a Jets town.. NEVER.. do they have loyal fans.. sure.. but this town belongs to the Giants, Yankees, Knicks and Rangers.. PERIOD.... and it always will.
I hate being coupled in with the Jets. Yes they have a lot of Long Island fans that root for both. That's where it ends. New York was a National League town with the Dodgers and Giants, and a lot of us Giant fans root for that style of Baseball. The problem with the Mets was, trying to compete with the Yankees, the current ownership and Omar Miniya. Much like the current Jets, don't worry about teams not in your Division!
What a bunch of whiny little bitches. Looks like 2 years of having local and national media slurp their butts have done nothing to cure that jealous little brother complex. Oh well
Good luck trying to sell that here... Jets rhyme with Mets, Jets suck, Mets suck, Jets fan = Mets fans... BBI logic...
As a fellow Mets fan, I can sympathize... Do Mets fans get "tired"of seeing the Yankees go to the playoffs every single year? Of course... Yet there really is no reason to disparage the Yankee organization and its fans just because the one you root for is an absolute mess... As a Knicks fan it is no different... Are there bandwagon Yankee fans? Yup, it comes with long term success... But there are far more die hard Yankee fans that just happen to be fortunate to root for a great team...
Last night, I profusely thanked my 73 year old father for raising us Giants fans... Especially for those of us who didn't have to endure the 1960s and 1970s, we are VERY fortunate...
The past 2 years were treacherous.. Jet fans getting so carried away thinking that they all of a sudden "owned NY" because they got to 2 AFC title games and lost in years where we didn't make the playoffs. Well, we're back in the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in 5 seasons and if we win it again... most of us will have witnessed our team hoist the trophy 4 times while most Jet fans I know weren't even alive yet when the Jets got their one SB over forty years ago.
The Giants are the football kings of this city and always have been.
On the line for both teams, in front of their home fans. Went to a Conference Championship game, which they couldn't shut the fuck up about for the last two years, then won the damn thing.
There's nothing they can say. Better get back on Hard Knocks to up the local profile Rex.
many of them are making rational points, and honestly, they sound less like fanboys than this thread. Maybe all the Rex bullshit has really gotten to our collective heads. I can't wait until he leaves and I can start rooting for the Jets again as my B team.
I was not implying that you did... I was referring to the Jets fans who disparage Giants fans because their organization stnks and relating to my personal rooting interest in the Mets...
Despite being "little brother" in both sports, the Mets are far different historically than the Jets...
The Mets can actually claim a period of dominance in their history (but one they failed to take advantage of, from 1985-1989). In that five year stretch, they won a WS (1986), were the best team in baseball in '88 but got beat by the best pitcher (Hershiser) and succumbed to their own demons (1987).
The Mets can actually claim that they owned the town for two decent-sized periods (from 1969-1975 and from 1984-1990)
At no point in the Jets history were they perennial threats to win a Super Bowl for 5-6 years in a row, the same way the Mets were in the late 1980s.
Despite the fact they're a joke now, the Mets historically aren't abject failures, like the Cubs...
do not associate the Football Giants so casually with the Baseball Yankees. Did the Yankees ever win anything as underdogs the way that the 90 and 07 Giants came from nowhere to do. I don't think so. If the 11-12 Giants win, it will be a lot more like the down three teams that have come through, than the money player fattened Yankees. Not that anyone would deny the history and tradition of the Yankees, nor question their tradition of excellence. But the Giant have come to where they are by a different route.
But to be fair, most of the posters on that thread admitted that they had this coming to them. Their coach talked shit for years on us, really totally unprovoked, and then we ended their season and went on to the Superbowl to face their biggest rival. There were a handful of idiot posters on that thread but most admitted it was time to eat some crow.
But yeah, in general, Jets fans are just terrible. I used to live in Long Island and was surrounded by them. I hate the way they watch football. My best friend is a die hard Jets fan, and knows as much football as anyone I've ever met. A truly dedicated, knowledgeable fan who can see their weaknesses for what they are as well as their strengths. He has realistic expectations, knows when to remain hopeful and just in general knows the game of football and is a pleasure to discuss it with (whether it's Jets, Giants, or any other team).
But when you watch a game with him? It can be a 3-0 Dolphins over the Jets with 4 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. The Jets will carry the ball for 6 yards, turning a 1rst and 10 to a 2nd and 4 at their own 31, and I hear "YEAH!!!! YEAHH!!! ALRIGHT!! LET'S GO!!!"
It might sound nit-picky, but I feel like their fans just have no context once the game starts. They're so hard for a winner that even the most marginal sign of success is a life-altering football moment. Maybe I'm wrong in characterizing Jets fans like this (I've read about many posters here who can't keep their cool at all during the games) but it just screams ignorance to me... and the bitch of it is my buddy is NOT ignorant. He probably knows a little more about football (at least around the league) than I do. But during a game, it's as if he (and the rest of them) can't tell the difference in significance between a 6 yard run and an 80 yard game winning touchdown pass. It's SO annoying!
I mean *****4 minutes remaining in the FIRST quarter*****
Were there some idiotic ones? Yeah, but we have those also. I do feel the comment about us playing in a "weak division" was really fucking dumb taking into account we beat all 4 teams in the AFC East as mentioned above.
I really like Nick Mangold. I think he is a great center. Also he is an articulate interview and seems like a good guy. I am disappointed in Mangold's comments about the Giants and Patriots in this interview, if you have a moment, skim through and give it a listen. Mangold comes across as childish and jealous. He wants a 10 - 10 tie in the game because either team winning would be the worst scenario. I wish Kay and Lagrecca would have asked tougher questions like "wasn't it your coach that created this with the Giants?". Or ask about covering the trophies on Christmas eve. January 27, Michael Kay show - ( New Window )
That was one specific topic...did you get a chance to listen? What did you think of Mangold and the topic in general? Did it sound like Mangold is bitter and that's fine. I think you can answer with a bit more dignity and class.
I can't stand the Jets, but wow. The Pro Bowl is an honor for those players, and it certainly isn't something to shit all over.
I wouldn't mind if my company sent me to Hawaii because I was one of the very best at what I do. I guess Steve Serby doesn't have to worry about that ever happening to him.

Giants fan on the radio just said the Jets run their mouths and the Giants run the town. They actually think the Jets fans are classless and obnoxious. How much more annoying can these midgets fans be? Not the smartest fan base in the NFL.

#2, your other brother, the NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS, are in the Super Bowl.
Sorry!

Reese and the Giants stayed focused, quiet and built from within, and now are back in the Superbowl.
You don't win with bravado...you win with talent, coaching and management.

Shouldn't they be focused on getting ready for the Gaytriots and their obnoxious rainbow-loving fans?
I mean at this point, worrying about what the Jets fans say is like beating a dead horse. It's over, Johnny. lol.
And please don't copy and paste posts from Jets Insider. It really makes you look pathetic and wanting for some attention.
