Cutting Baas would accelerate the remaining 6.8 million of his bonus to this year.
Baas's salary for this year is 3 million - and two million of that is guaranteed.
Thus, it would COST us almost $6 million to cut Baas
Baas does not become 'cuttable' (meaning we actually save money by cutting him) until 2014.
trade osi, kiwanuka to DE

Remember how we were all worrying about Wilfork? Boothe and Baas kept him quiet.
Cutting Baas would make our cap situation WORSE!
Baas, we'll judge him at the end of the 12' season, this would be reasonable, yes?
And Wilfork is a monster.
Baas will be fine.
The Pats had little threat on the pass rush, and with doubling Wilfork it made Mark Anderson look like Michael Strahan.
he deserves another year
like Canty, Baas is learning a new position. Spent most of his career in SF as a guard
You'll get better feedback.
There is NO F'N way we pay him 10.45 mil in 2013. You can take that to the bank!
We won't pay Baas 10.45 million in 2013.
He'll either have too redo his deal or he'll be sent packing. GMen won't pay that for 2013.
That's what you get when you don't use your glasses and it's late in the day at work!
The team has a QB playing on the highest level. There is zero chance a rookie would be starting at this stage of Eli's career.
What has Konz done to warrant this "great" label.
If the Giants FO and coaches felt he was the best option a rookie could absolutely start on the Giants o-line. Especially considering the beating he took against some teams last year (SF, the Eagles) couldn't be much worse.
Ben Fricke died at age 35 - ( New Window )
If the scouts and Reese think one of these centers is too good value to pass up then go for it.
The Giants like interior guys who can play multiple positions. Can konz do that.
2) He dealt with injuries all season long.
3) Outside of the 49ers game, the OL played very well late in the season. Wilfork was a non factor in the Super Bowl.
Saying he is a bust is stupid talk.
rookie o-lineman came in and played well with no ota's mini-camps, shortened training camp and no history of playing in the NFL - even at center, like Pouncey in Miami, and other non-centers (smith, solder, etc.).
Why can they do it as rookies, and a high-priced veteran center can't be expected to?
I'm not sure I buy the shortened camp and no OTA/mini-camp reasons so many have put forth to explain it.
He was.the best FA C last year. His signing bonus was 8.5m for 5 years. That is pretty reasonable. His big number is salary, which is easier to deal with
Did I miss anyone?
I expect improvement in his play next year.
