great news. Love this guy.
His weight is listed at

only 236.
What?
KWhite2250 : 3/9/2012 1:54 pm : link
Hes talking peyton manning the last 3 days
.
Danny Kanell : 3/9/2012 1:54 pm : link
That would be an excellent signing.
Peyton knows him well,
Big Blue '56 : 3/9/2012 1:54 pm : link
so by extension so does Eli probably. He'll get the real skinny from Peyton
He's
Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/9/2012 1:55 pm : link
awfully small.
I actually played high school football
halfback20 : 3/9/2012 1:55 pm : link
against Tamme. He dominated my team in the state championship two years in a row.
hes listed at
NewYorkGiants : 3/9/2012 1:56 pm : link
6'3
236

thats a bit small no?
he'd

be more of a replacement for Beckum than Ballard.
Germain?

Danny Kanell : 3/9/2012 1:56 pm : link
He would likely fill Beckums role. His 2010 is likely what the Giants envisioned Beckum to be when they drafted him.
Goodbye
cobaltdap : 3/9/2012 1:56 pm : link
Beckum... Hopefully this is true, so tired of Beckum.
He's no Bear Pascoe

I don't think you watched the Super Bowl.
If Beckum
Giantfootball025 : 3/9/2012 1:58 pm : link
and Ballard start off on the PUP list does their salary count against this years cap?
more likely Beckum type role
nyynyg : 3/9/2012 1:58 pm : link
67 catches though the season before is nice. We need some guys there so signing one, if cheap, will help. We do need a big body guy though.
Eric
cobaltdap : 3/9/2012 1:58 pm : link
your going to sum up all his time here on 1 game, your observation is awful.
Giantfootball
Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/9/2012 1:58 pm : link
Ballard and Beckum are cheap.

Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/9/2012 1:59 pm : link
No dumbass. Beckum tore his ACL in the Super Bowl. He may be out of the year. So you saying goodbye to Beckum is kind of missing the point.
cobalt
nyynyg : 3/9/2012 1:59 pm : link
I was one of the biggest anti-Beckum guys but we seems to start to find a way to pull him into the game plan. I think he gets a shot for certain now when he comes back.

I think Barden has less of a shot than Beckum, including injury, I would never thought in a million years I would say that.
Not
DanMetroMan : 3/9/2012 1:59 pm : link
saying it's not true but nothing on Twitter mentioning him saying this yet.
Yeah I know
Giantfootball025 : 3/9/2012 2:00 pm : link
they aren't due much at all, I was just wondering in general.
nyynyg
Josh in the City : 3/9/2012 2:00 pm : link
Not if we lose Manningham. There is a good chance Barden is our opening day #3 WR.
if Tamme
Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/9/2012 2:01 pm : link
hasn't been cut, and is a FA, he can't sign until March 13 at 4PM.

So this report is either inaccurate or Francesca is saying he's hearing a rumor.
Is anyone
Josh in the City : 3/9/2012 2:01 pm : link
else listening that can confirm what Fatcessa is saying?
I hope its true
UConn4523 : 3/9/2012 2:01 pm : link
just so we don't blow our pick on a TE in the first round.
I'm not sure if I like this move (if true).
Vin_Cuccs : 3/9/2012 2:02 pm : link
He is extremely small, even for a move TE/H-back role. And perhaps it was Beckum, but the move TE/H-back wasn't utilized too often.

One would assume an in-line/traditional TE would be way more of a priority.
Beckum
Matt in SGS : 3/9/2012 2:02 pm : link
started to play a bigger role in the offense as the season went along. He was buried in the dog house for a while after the first Philly game when he botched the 4th and short reception, but the Giants were actively trying to get him more passes underneath, to take advantage of his quickness as teams were worrying about Cruz and Nicks. Tamme is a guy who can fill that role.
What was Tamme stats last year?
Rich Houston-NYG-WR-1971 : 3/9/2012 2:02 pm : link
Is he a Ham'n'Egger or does he have potential? Who is he more like?
UConn
Josh in the City : 3/9/2012 2:03 pm : link
Tamme isn't an every down TE in this offense anyway. Gilbride stressed blocking more than receiving from the position and Tamme isn't known as a good blocker (also on the smaller size). As others have mentioned, he's probably more of a replacement for Beckum as our H-Back.
No
cobaltdap : 3/9/2012 2:03 pm : link
your missing the point, ever since you started posting in the last couple years your arrogance has gone to your head. You think your all knowing. I was implying that Beckum was and has been worthless. We continued to give this fragile guy a chance and he did nothing. Apparently you like to come to conclusion before actually knowing the reasoning behind a statement. For a guy who runs his own site you might be more respectful.
Tamme didn't even crack King's top 50 FA list
BoldRuler : 3/9/2012 2:03 pm : link
Reese is losing it. ;)
Hmmm...

think more of former Coughlin favorite at BC and Jax (and a former Giant) in Pete Mitchell. A more undersized TE who can work the intermediate zone and will help convert the 3rd and short/mid range passes.
Josh
UConn4523 : 3/9/2012 2:04 pm : link
I know. It was more of a joke than anything. I just really don't want a TE in the first round.
Cobalt...Eric just started posting the last couple years?
BoldRuler : 3/9/2012 2:05 pm : link

No I meant posting more often then he did in the past.
I don't
Josh in the City : 3/9/2012 2:06 pm : link
know how anyone could say (with a straight face) that Beckum was becoming a bigger part of our offense as the season went along. He had 5 receptions (not a misprint) and 93 yards in the regular season (that INCLUDES the 67 yarder)!
cobaltdap
Eric from BBI : Admin : 3/9/2012 2:06 pm : link
Ever since I've been posting the last couple of years?

I've been posting since the site was established 17 years ago. And I've been arrogant the entire time.

Regardless, your point seemed to suggest that this move was made because the Giants were done with Beckum. That's not true. If this move is made, it's because Beckum tore his ACL.

I'm no big fan of Beckum, but anyone who watched this team down the stretch saw that Beckum got a TON of playing time and was coming on as a blocker and pass receiver.
One thing we can all agree on regarding Beckum:
Giants11737 : 3/9/2012 2:07 pm : link
That play in the Green Bay was a real thing of beauty.

Beckum was playing a ton. Stats are not a great indicator of "coming on", but he had 5 catches in 16 regular season games but 7 in four playoff games.

I actually post less than I did in the past...so wrong again.
Eric
Josh in the City : 3/9/2012 2:09 pm : link
true but that was more due to the fact that Pascoe was useless and Beckum was our #2 TE. Beckum is okay, but I think we all expected more out of him.
Beckum's
Larry from WV : 3/9/2012 2:09 pm : link
blocking in the playoffs was very good.
Beckum
Giantfootball025 : 3/9/2012 2:09 pm : link
was starting to get more involved at least snaps wise towards the end of the season and in the playoffs. Whether it was finally him putting it together or the Giants gameplan to create mismatches isn't clear. My guess would be a little bit of both. They wouldn't just toss a useless player out in the biggest games of the year.
Is Tamme going to be the new slot guy ?
NYGBlue42 : 3/9/2012 2:09 pm : link
We still need to sign a big blocking TE with the changes coming to the offensive line.
