Glad to see you just arrive in the past couple years big guy!
I remember when it used to be a rite of passage to get ripped in the Letters section. Now he's an arrogant guy just starting to give opinions lately? To quote a past soul wow.....just wow.
with a shitty QB. A pretty good year in 2010. Yes I would be very happy with Tamme!! Something like 2 yr/ 6 million type deal. Go out and sign either Kellen Davis or Martellus Bennett as our blocking TE and we are in better shape at TE then this past year!!
i'm not sure of the scenario yet but I still find it highly unlikely that Barden is our #3 receiver come opening day this year. In fact, he is not even going to be there on the initial depth chart.
I think Thomas and Hixon have probably already hopped him and quite frankly, I think Jernigan is going to get a shot as well. And that is before any FA move or the draft.
We'll see how he does in the pre-season but I see nothing to indicate how Barden is near our #3 even with Mario leaving. I simple don't..
Giants Potential Free Agent Target: Jacob Tamme, TE, Colts
Giants Potential Free Agent Target: Jacob Tamme, TE, Colts

The 6-foot-4, 234-pounder, who will be 27 on March 15, will hit the free-agent market next Tuesday. How would he look trading his Colts blue for Giants blue, and catching passes from Eli Manning instead of Peyton Manning?
Tamme might not be big enough to be an every down in-line tight end. He might, however, be the type of H-Back or moving tight end who could replace Travis Beckum -- and improve on Beckum's productivity. Tamme probably isn't going to require a mega-contract either, which would make him a decent candidate for the salary-cap handcuffed Giants.
It shouldn't take almost 3 years for a TE to learn our system when Pope is given such high praise on how he makes our TE's better. They guy was pretty much non-existent except for 1 play. The guy was suppose to be a project with blocking not with his offensive skills. He lacked in both departments. Tamme is good replacement for Beckum, but we need a bigger TE who can block and get down the seam.
and found one blurb about it on a giants site. So for right now it is just big Mike doing his thing. Would be a great pickup in my opinion. Still need to address TE after it though.
He is probably going to get close to that. He's a better player than Beckum who we mentioned had 12 catches in a total of what 16 or 17 games? The Colts were shit last year and his production was down. In 2010 he had 67 catches for 650 yards and 4 TDs. I'd pay 3 million for 67 catches.
we can't have a blocking specialist and receiving specialist at TE. We need a guy who does a good job at blocking that can also be somewhat of a threat in the receiving game (anything more is just a bonus). I don't think Jacob Tamme changes our strategy at all when it comes to getting a TE...we still need to add someone either in FA or EARLY in the Draft.
got him for pennies on the dollar I really don't understand or like this move. H-Back has never been a prominent role in our offense and we have other needs that need to be addressed. As I said earlier, if we paid anything close to $3mm/yr, that would be a total waste.
Exactly!! Everybody thought we had the worst TEs in the league last year. They turned out pretty well. When you have Bradshaw,Jacobs,Nicks & Cruz getting the attention with Eli at QB you can put a marginal player at TE and he looks a lot better than he is. We need to get two TEs. If we got Tamme along with either Bennett or Davis we are in better shape then we were this time last year!
How can he be reporting anything on who the Giants are signing? At most he can SPECULATE who they may be interested in. I'm F*cking shocked he's even talking about football. What, did he fall and bang his head and knock some sense into it?
how many times did hynoski or pascoe catch a pass from H-back position to move the chains? Answer-Alot..especially when your own RB's cannot convert 3rd and 1.
in Eli's tenure from a running team into an elite passing team. We have no idea what this coaching staff is thinking. Not suggestion we can't talk about it, but I wouldn't be so sure that the Giants don't want an "h-back"
eric, sorry i meant a prototypical TE who can block and
do you want to take Hynoski out of the Fullback role in order to put Tamme in an H-Back position? The reason he's able to be successful is b/c teams expect him to block but he's coming out of the backfield to catch the pass. If Tamme is back there then we'd be telegraphing pass plays (b/c I don't think he is good enough as a blocker to block from the fullback position).
At 3 mil per would have me shaking my head plus I just don't see 60+ balls to the TE with our WR's. He does not sound like a blocking TE so his 1st and 2nd downs numbers would be somewhat low.
Not a lot because Pascoe isn't that good. Tamme in 1 season has more production that Pascoe his entire career. Once again if we can go out and sign a guy like Bennett or Davis who block really well and catch decent then go out and sign a guy who catches really well and blocks adequately we are in better shape than this time last year.
H-back position regardless. I really don't think teams care who is in our backfield with Nicks and Cruz out there to double. The point i was trying to make is that our RB's cannot make a 3rd and 1. we are dead last in rushing and as a result it makes the H-back position very important to moving the chains in play action.
I said around a 2 year 6 million dollar contract. He will get something similar to that I am sure. A TE that is fairly young that catches the ball well is valuable. In 2010 Ben Watson had a nearly identical season and he got a 3 year 12 million dollar contract.

I thought BBI posters preferred Kellen Davis? Maybe Tamme comes more cheaply.
just a thought...if he's a FA (and wasn't cut) then he can't sign until next week anyway, as someone pointed out...
This move does not make sense imo
I guess I'm not really worried about TE. We will figure it out one way or another.
Everybody calm down.
No TE in Round 1.
I could be wrong of course but it just seems out of character.
If Tamme comes in, could mean Beckum goes out.
Tamme is a real smart guy who could be an exciting weapon.
