but the contract shows that he wants to prove himself. He could've taken the easy way out and gotten a 3 year deal somewhere else. He sees the opportunity here.
not sure how anyone could be against this realistically Â
he's likely the best FA TE, and he knows his stuff, really liked this bit:
Quote:
“In Dallas, my main role was to block, run block,” he said. “I think I was a big part of the run offense that we had out there. I actually enjoy blocking, honestly. The thing I like about coming here, the situation here is that I don’t only have to block. I get a chance to do more things. Last year I only had 23 targets with the Cowboys and I played a whole lot of snaps. I think this year I’ll get a chance to show both ends of the spectrum. I don’t like to be labeled. I don’t want to be labeled as a pass-catching tight end or a blocking tight end. I just want to be a tight end.”
ELI loves to throw to his TEs. We will know early if this guy is the real deal. He may be better than anyone in this draft easily, with his measurables. What more can you ask for?
I'm surprised the Giants spent that much ($2.5 mil) on a TE. I guess they feel it is required with the injuries. A one year deal doesn't hurt much, however.
He is a massive guy who should help with the running game:

But the Giants finished last in the NFL in rushing yardage, which Coughlin will surely emphasize in the offseason and in training camp. Improvement will depend not only on the running backs, but on the blockers – including the tight ends.

He wants to be here.
Another smart, good looking kid representing the blue.
The cap was flat this year...watch this FO work magic.
Appreciate.
I assure you the press boxes will be filled again this year during the preseason with scouts from the other smart teams.
Go Giants 2012.
