John Abraham Numbers

(Didn't see this info posted; will delete if German).

Despite Abraham's statements that he deserves $12 million/year, he ended up signing a three year deal worth "about $16 million." More specifically, Abraham got a $2.25 million signing bonus, base salaries of $1.5 million (2012), $3.25 million (2013) and $3.25 million (2014), along with "about $7 million" of per-game roster bonuses if he's healthy and playing.

I absolutely LOVE this deal as a roadmap to extending Osi. Abraham is older, but has been marginally more productive than Osi the past 2-3 years.

It may be wishful thinking that Osi would ever sign something like this, but it would provide great comfort to have out #3 pass-rushing stud tied up for another 3-4 years!

I would love for Osi to retire a Giant

Abraham is older but he also was a free agent where Osi is not. I would hope Osi can agree to something like this. I think we won't know until the draft though.
Abraham is 3 years old

So that isn't nothing, but I think this deal is still more relevant for Osi than the Trent Cole deal. I'm sure Osi's agent will bring up Trent Cole, but Osi is not the all around player Cole is. Osi will get more than Abraham because he's better and younger, but this deal should help the Osi process.

.
They have pretty similar stats
BillT : 3/19/2012 4:34 pm : link
Osi, 27.5 sacks, 103 tackles last three years playing in 41 games. Abraham 28 sacks, 130 tackles last three years playing in 46 games.

The question I have is can they extend Osi and not Tuck?
The thing of it is, Abraham was a one man wrecking crew

early on in the Atlanta playoff game. Obviously, we found a way to neutralize him, but he was the only player the Giants had to change their game plan for.

The thing that makes Osi's situation unique is he's a monster at making qb's fumble.

How many forced fumbles has he had the last 2 years? Those are game changing and momentum changing plays.
I would love it if Osi were a lifetime Giant

He is a favorite of mine because he makes plays

I'm for trading Osi if the price is right or if he doesn't want to play here. (ala Shockey)

But there is no question that he is a game changer. His strip sack of Rodgers saved a TD and helped never allow GB to feel it had a chance to win the game

I just don't think he'd sign that type of contract for us.

I hope I'm wrong

The issue with Abraham has often been wondering how much effort he'll give every week, he's big complainer, always injured, etc.

At their respective bests I'd take Osi, even better he's younger. We just don't know if a comparable contract will be enough to satisfy him. If not, I'm still ok with trading him.
