Every year we have a million threads that are created about various UFDAs who are talking to the Giants or have signed with the Giants. This thread should be for players who have actually been signed by the Giants, with a link and source as well. Traditionally, some information starts to leak out as early as a few hours after the draft has completed, so get Googlin' kids.
Tonight through tomorrow, and into Monday will be interesting, especially with the rosters being expanded ten spots from 80 to 90.
Now is the time to go for need on both the parts of the rookie free agents and the teams. Giants still need the following:
**bodies at TE (blocker), a MIKE, a jumbo Safety, a Guard, competition at FB, a 3rd string QB perhaps, another body at RB (Andre Brown is suspended and Jacobs is gone), another WR maybe. Gonna be interesting.
And yes, I would bring in MLB Vontaze Burfict

I was just reading through your thread. I'm already there. Let's all do the same, and save this for news. Like Matt said, things start to leak a few ours after the draft. Tomorrow will be very busy on this thread.
But as mentioned above, you can use Jay's thread to talk about what players we'd like to see, this one should be for the list of guys who have said they are going to the Giants and we can discuss them here.

pounds of fury just flying into players... Still shows good form on tackles, uses his arms and shoulders about as well as you can... Very athletic, has the physical ability you look for in a top safety with his rare blend of speed and athleticism... Good hands for a defensive back, sometimes it just feels that the ball is attracted to his gloves... Not afraid to come upfield and help in run support... Not the biggest dog in the fight, but will take on anybody who steps in his path including offensive lineman... Surprising how durable he is, especially given the physicality that he plays with... Can provide some big plays in the return game, good vision on kick returns... Will play with a chip on his shoulder to prove that he belongs... Returned an interception 84 yards for a touchdown in McNeese State's final game of the season against Lamar... Played two seasons at Tennessee and performed well, including second-team All-SEC by the league coaches as a sophomore.
Negatives -- Character concerns may scare some teams off; left Tennessee after his sophomore season for personal reasons, but was reinstated, eventually dismissed from the team with reported substance abuse issues... Tends to go for the big hit too often, which is a problem when he does it in open field situations... Needs to be careful with his physicality to make sure he keeps himself healthy and on the field... A little wiry in his build, could stand to add about 10-12 pounds, just to get his body used to the everyday wear and tear of NFL life... Ran slower than expected, wasn't very impressive in drills and managed just nine reps of 225 lbs... However, looked more impressive on film than he showed in Indianapolis... The substance abuse questions will drop him off some teams boards entirely.

The Giants have signed 10 UDFAs and filled their roster already. "Yeah, we're done," scouting director Marc Ross said. #NYG
Martinek has a Division I background from Rutgers. At 6 feet tall and 224 pounds, he has pro football size. And the work ethic is there, too.
So even if this weekend comes and goes without Martinek's name being announced at the 77th annual NFL draft, which began Thursday, his path to the league should still be as open as the paths he cleared for his teammates as a Rutgers fullback last season.
Martinek has been listed in some online draft projections as a sixth- or seventh-rounder, which means he would be selected Saturday. That would be a big deal for him. And perhaps someday, he could be part of an updated version of the NFL Network's Top 10 Draft Steals list.
But if Martinek doesn't get picked, there's still a strong chance he will quickly latch on as an undrafted rookie free agent. That's OK, because the NFL Network has a Top 10 list for that category, too.
Either way, Martinek will play pro football in the fall. Bank on it.
"I guess we'll see what happens," said Martinek, a 2007 Hopatcong graduate and New Jersey's all-time leading high school rusher. "The thing that's frustrating about this whole process (is) there's a lot of waiting. You've just got to wait and see."
Hundreds of people will attend the draft in Manhattan, and millions more will watch it on ESPN or the NFL Network. Don't count Martinek among the viewers.
"No," he said, "I'm not going to be anywhere near a television. I'll be out doing something."
More like clouting something a few hundred yards.
"Saturday, I'm going golfing," he said. "I'll just do things to keep my mind off it."
The only catch to Martinek being drafted is not being able to select his destination. The Giants and Jets each offer an obvious appeal for the player nicknamed "Jersey Joe." So if Giants general manager Jerry Reese snares Martinek to help fill the void left by Brandon Jacobs' free-agent departure, that would be ideal. Or if Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum picks Martinek to help spring blocks for Tim Tebow, that would work, too.

This could be one of the more interesting kids we've seen here in years.
Giants have signed Arizona WR David Douglas, per his college teammate Nick Foles. #nyg
Also In New York Giants
Marc Ross on Rutgers FB Joe Martinek, whom they signed as a free agent: "We had him at the local day. Weve been to tons of Rutgers games. Hes just a gritty, hard-nosed football player. Hes played fullback, hes played running back, done whatever they asked. He worked out really well. Can really catch the ball. A guy you can throw in at any position there in the backfield and hell not miss a beat."

Talley is a little more serious on the field and it shows. In last weeks 27-21 loss to New Hampshire at Gillette Stadium, Talley had career highs with 10 catches and 113 yards.
He added a 23-yard touchdown run, his second rushing score this season.
The joke was that he played well because former teammate and friend Victor Cruz of the New York Giants was on the sideline.
Victor Cruz and Jeromy Miles (UMass alum and safety with the Bengals), my cousin, they said I better have a plane ticket ready for every other game here on out to get those guys in because I had a big day, Talley said.

pressure, good counter-moves inside... Natural length, long arms, initially stays low and does a nice job extending his arms and gaining leverage, has powerful hands, is physical at the point of attack... Strong lower body, can push and pressure the pocket and take on double teams... Disciplined in backside pursuit, holds the edge reasonably well and maintains outside containment, doesn't take himself out of plays, knows his assignments and sticks with them, strong wrap-up tackler... Quick to diagnose plays and get to the ball carrier, does good job of adjusting to screens, draws and misdirection plays... Motor is always running, hard worker, plays with a mean streak... High football IQ, has been used in multiple roles, has experience dropping into coverage, and has played some snaps at defensive tackle, can wear multiple hats in the NFL.
Negatives -- Relies too much on athleticism, technique is very raw and he's still coming into his own as a player, a project... Lacks power, doesn't generate much on contact with bull rush... Does not have much ability to avoid and disengage from blocks, engages a little high and does not utilize hands to get off blocks... Had made some spot starts earlier in his career but really just has one season's worth of starting experience, 14 career starts... Doesn't project to defensive tackle in the pros yet made the shift from defensive end to tackle following Marcus Forston's season ending knee injury in 2011... Minor durability concerns, missed the 2009 season following preseason jaw surgery stemming from a locker room right during 2009 summer camp.

on a separate point look at the video, linked earlier..about the 3:00 point did he steal a TD from H Nicks??
I'm really intrigued by Jackson and Martinek. I think both will make the team. Martinek reminds me of a combo between Jacob Hester, Marion Barber and Toby Gerhart. Runs hard, catches the ball well and can and will block. That's a pretty nice backfield mix of explosion and special talent in Wilson, a combination of skill, decent size and tough running in Bradshaw, and good size, hands, blocking and tough running of Martinek. Add in Hynoski's size and blocking and that's a very good backfield.
That's plenty, IMO.. especially if Beckum heals quickly
Those are often thrown around as back-handed compliments.
Would you believe hes more athletic than you probably think?
The first time I saw him play basketball, I was like, Wow, where is that on the football field? said receivers coach Dave Nichol.
He is sometimes too passive on the football field. Frankly, thats a challenge to him. What I said to him was that he wasnt making certain plays that showcase the athleticism he has.
Douglas is hoping that changes in his senior year. He has put on 15 pounds, playing at about 205. Somewhere behind that Opie-looking face is a maturing, tough athlete ready to punch through his previous stereotypes.
Ive always been a pretty good basketball player, he said.
I can jump, get up and dunk and do all that stuff. Last year, in football, I could show it in bursts but I have to be that way all the time. That is what I emphasized in the offseason, getting more physical, gaining weight.
I will become a more physical blocker and be able to break arm tackles just be a physical player. That is what I have been trying to become.

No QB? Perilloux gets a longer look-see?
Douglas will be either a late-round pick or a priority collegiate free agent, and scouts have grown more impressed with his soft hands, tight route running and football instincts as the spring has worn on. The Lions and Bills are two of the teams thought to be interested in his market.

As for Martinek, I think the tweener label and him being a white RB contributed to him not being drafted. Unfortunately there's an ignorant stigma that follows white RBs around. They're forced into the label of FB even if that's not who they are. Or they're just passed over. It isn't right but it is what it is.

How about the fact that he was a pedestrian running back on a mediocre team? Come on. If he's good enough to make the team and contribute, he'll make the team. They're not going to give hijm less of a chance because he's white.

There are absolutely no Asian RB's is it because there is a stereotype or not an abundance of Asian RB talent?
There arent anymore black punters in the league since Rodney Williams and only 4 in the history of the nfl. Is there a stereotype or lack of black kicking talent at that position???

Old interview-
Seeing NFL players come back, it doesn't get any better as far as motivation goes. You see the work they put in to get where they are. There's no slack. They don't take time off. They put in the work constantly. I've seen Antrel Rolle almost every day of the summer, and he and I talk a lot. To see things like that, it's just motivation. I know I can be in the same position, I just have to work and keep pushing.

Yazvac says Goodin is special because of his size. At 6-6 and 310 pounds, Goodin is drawing a look from New Orleans, Green Bay and Carolina.
Scouts are interested in Goodin, whos currently wearing a cast from a broken wrist this last season. They have come to UNK to see what kind of a person he is and eventually will test him in drills at a Pro Day event.
Courtesy Photo - Stephen Goodin
Pro Days, in March, are similar to a mini NFL Scouting Combine: running the 40-yard dash, performing the vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill, pro agility and bench press.
Things they want to know vary from background information like where Im from and what my family is like, to sports background (sports played, positions played, awards) from high school through college, Goodin said. Past injuries and personality weigh in as well.
Ask Goodin his strength, and he agrees its his size. But Goodin says hes even more special athletically, and his work ethic is another big asset.
Right now I have a workout that I am following, concentrating on my leg strength, speed and agility.
Players at the next level need to fit the size model. Its really what scouts look for in the grand scheme of things, hence the draw to Goodin.

Hastings Tigers.
He played just about every position along the line for the Lopers, starting at left guard for two years and serving as the teams left tackle this past fall.
Goodin was a rare sixth-year senior as he took a redshirt season in 2006 and then received a medical redshirt in 2010 when he suffered a broken leg during fall camp. In the weight room, he has a top squat of 604 lbs., a top bench press of 403 lbs. while running a 4.90 40-yard dash.

Day everyday, your right optimus, nobody understands but the people here. That's one thing everyone has in common here. We are Elite fans above all others in knowledge and integrity.
Now cheers! To another amazing draft by Jerry Reese, Marc Ross, and the rest of our scouts and coaches! I have never been so confident in our team and organization, as a diehard Yankee fan in even more confiden in the giants team then the glory days of 2000 for the yanks!
Bottom line, I am extremely proud to be a Giants fan and I'm thankful there's such a great level of intelligence

"Well, I can't do nothing about it right now, at this point," Ojomo said after a practice earlier this week in preparation for Saturday's Battle of Florida All-Star Game 8 p.m. at FAU Stadium.
"I'm not going to sit back and weep on it. I'm in the real world now, so I've got to conduct myself as an adult and just move forward, do what I have to do in order to get to the next level."
Like seven other former 'Canes, Ojomo has used this week to try to impress NFL scouts.
He's been training at former sprinter Michael Johnson's Performance Center outside Dallas on the advice of former UM cornerback Brandon Harris in hopes of losing the 10 pounds he gained in moving to defensive tackle, where the team needed him this past season.
Ojomo, who finished his UM career with 79 tackles, 16 for a loss, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries, said that experience shows NFL teams he can move inside on third down and be productive. "You need to be versatile when you're trying to make a 53-man roster," he noted.
While he had been confident he'd receive a sixth year from the NCAA, Ojomo said he had been mentally preparing himself for the possibility he wouldn't.
"I knew my career wouldn't be forever," he said. "I was prepared, so it wasn't too much of a shock mentally."

Anyone have measureables handy?
That former Tenn S will get suspended for hits like that.
Several othes look promising as well. Not total fodder.
And while it was assumed the more than 20 NFL scouts in attendance took notice, an ESPN reporter confirmed Thursday the Hopatcong star left a lasting impression.
Adam Schefter said via Twitter the redshirt senior's speed turned more than a few NFL heads.
"Looks like Rutgers is producing another NFL RB/FB prospect: Joe Martinek, who ran in 4.4s at pro day. Other measurables (sp) caught NFL's attn.," Schefter tweeted.

I really wish the NFL would increase the roster size by another 10 to 12 players
Granted, Goff had started to shape up into a capable MLB, so anything's possible...but at this point he wants to start surely, so that may not be available for him in NY. I am excited to see waht three faster linebackers can do (Rivers good in coverage, of course Boley is decent, and J.Williams no question)...
Tale of the Tape - Janzen Jackson - ( New Window )
The fact that the Giants signed him makes me think they think he can get on the right path.
The 10 are as follows (in alphabetical order according to last name):
Matt Broha, DE, Louisiana Tech
Damian Davis, WR, Mary Hardin-Baylor
David Douglas, WR, Arizona
Stephen Goodin, OG, Nebraska-Kearney
Janzen Jackson, FS, McNee State
Joe Martinek, FB, Rutgers
*D'Angelo McCray, OG, Memphis
JoJo Nicolas, FS, Miami
Adwale Ojomo, DE, Miami
Julian Tailey, WR, U Mass
NOTE: The asterisk indicates a pending signing (as per Tom Rock).
"One other note. The Giants only have 10 roster spots left to fill in order to his the 90-man training camp maximum. The rookie mini camp will certainly feature a lot more than just the draft picks and the ten potential UDFA signees so the above list is subject to change."(Please see source below).

When officers pulled the car over, they found an air pellet gun and some pot in the glove box. It was not Jackson's car.
Just really stupid. And one of those situations you simply do not put yourself in. Time will tell with this kid if he plans on showing the Giants if he has grown up in a significant way.
Purvis is a Ballard clone,Bennett,Bear,Robinson..
Purvis may stay on PS...I thought he would make it but
I don't see Bear losing job and Robinson should make it..

the main point..why people still want more?
"NFL spokesman Greg Aiello just tweeted that the NFL will increase offseason rosters from 80 to 90 players, effective at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The move was discussed at the owners meetings last month but was tabled for later consideration. According to Aiello, the NFL Executive Council approved the measure today.
The increase is not as large as it may seem at first. With the 80-player limit, unsigned draft picks and some other players would not count against the limit. Under the new limit, the draft picks and others would count."
90-player limit will include active, inactive, practice squad, exempt, reserve lists, unsigned draft choices, franchise FAs.
He has talent, but his tape shows a real "me first" and frankly dirty player. It looks like he is going for "kill" shots, and targeting the head and knees.
I think I would have let him go elsewhere, but he is a UDFA.
He can catch. He runs hard although he doesn't explode into tacklers and break tackles. Blocking was OK on college level. He would have to put on some weight to play FB in the NFL.
His best move would be to put on 25 lbs and try and make it as an athletic FB. As a RB? I don't see it in the NFL.
AcidTest : 11:26 am
a UDFA, Jackson might be a risk worth taking, but his behavior is frankly worse than that of Janoris Jenkins. You really have to wonder if he's just saying the right things to get on an NFL roster.
He has talent, but his tape shows a real "me first" and frankly dirty player. It looks like he is going for "kill" shots, and targeting the head and knees.
I think I would have let him go elsewhere, but he is a UDFA.
That's why he's an UDFA. One screw up--if he even breathes wrong--and he's toast. There's no risk on the Giants' part with respect to the cap at all. Good opportunity to see what he can do (it's not a risk since they're not gambling anything).
Can catch and block even if only on the move. Add weight and leave the online blocking to the other 5.
Martinek would back up Hynoski and be used as Beckam was used.
I'm sure that the Giants talked to all parties concerned to even offer a UDFA contract.

He had nothing but praise for him. Said he's smart and the hardest worker he has ever seen (and that dude is an extremely hard worker himself).
Sounds like the type of guy the Giants are looking for in their linemen.
Will be interesting to see how he does, but I think he has a chance to make the team and stick around as a backup.
That said, if Jackson gets "it" and it suddenly clicks he could be a pretty solid player.
