Giants Tattoo - Opinions Wanted

My Dad is getting a Giants tattoo next Friday, and as part of the tattoo, he is getting the years they won the Super Bowl. This started a debate: Do you get the season (1986, 1990, 2007, 2011) the year the Super Bowl was played (1987, 1991, 2008, 2012) or the Roman Numerals for the Super Bowl in question? I figured I'd come to BBI and see what the general opinion was, and also if any of you have similar tattoos?

generally speaking, NFL seasons are considered in the year they begin. The Giants were the 2011 champions, even though the game was played in February of '12.

I have no real opinion about the other two options, I suppose that would matter on the overall design.

He didn't ask any advice on whether to get or not get the tattoo and besides it is for his father. I would go with roman numerals it enables for more creativity

You need 3 separate tattoo columns.

One column with Roman Numerals, another with the date, the third column would show the team played and the winning score. You may also want to consider adding a 4th column for meaningful comments.

people who like myself, would never dream of putting a tattoo on their body can never understand people who do it. As I view it, how can you put something on your body that you will never get off? On the other hand, people who chose to do it, obviously have the other view. I think to call either side stupid--is stupid. To each his own.

As anything goes, there are many reasons people get tattoos. Some regret getting them later in life, and some do not. When you get something that has meaning for you, then you want to keep it forever...however, if you get them because the tattoo artist said it means something cool, you will most likely regret getting it.

those NFL Championships (prior to the SB) did not happen. Not saying I agree with it, but the NFL doesn't even acknowledge them anymore.

a no-brainer. Roman numerals. As was posted earlier, the year can be problematic in that shoudl you use the season year, or when the SB was played? Roman numerals makes that irrelevant, plus it has the benefit of really only being truly understood by true football fans.
