Rumor: Dolphins offer 2nd and 4th for Osi?

kelsto811 : 5/8/2012 2:16 pm
RUMOR...INSIDE RUMOR

Had to put that out there because well it is out there...Might be worth discussing. Saw it browsing Ralph Vacchiano's twitter and it was posted on Scout.com. For the record I really don't believe it but where are the BBI asshats when you need them?

Didn't Jason Taylor just retire?
Geeman : 5/8/2012 3:23 pm : link
I think this trade is a possibility for them to get a couple of bookend rushers in Miami. Even though this is a bit of a rebuild, this team played very competitively in several games last year so they do have talent and Osi is a proven commodity. The other part of this is that many teams, especially those in the AFC will look to copy the NYG blueprint for beating the Pats which is by getting after Brady with a heavy pass rush.
Miami may also get permission to negotiate a new contract with Osi
Optimus-NY : 5/8/2012 3:25 pm : link
in this trade scenario, hence the 2 picks floated around. They're not giving up that much to give him up after one season.
Jan - We sticky rumors now that have ZERO validation?
Canton : 5/8/2012 3:26 pm : link
from a message board no less? It's like having, "Josh in The City" posting it here, but without a link. How many of you would go off on him?

This is BBI, not Giants.com
If this is true you have to take this Jerry
Geomon : 5/8/2012 3:27 pm : link
Miami sucks so any pick you get from them is going to be high and you wanted a 2nd for Osi anyway. Take the deal Jerry!
Take it !
Howyadoin : 5/8/2012 3:27 pm : link
Stop the bitchin & cryin !!
I'd take it if they offered it but I think it's just imagination
Ace718 : 5/8/2012 3:31 pm : link

Anyone giving the OP shit over this
Jay in Saratoga : 5/8/2012 3:32 pm : link

I can't find it on Ralph's timeline. The reference to Ralph's twitter feels like a complete fabrication on the part of the OP to give this rumor added validity.
Reese to the IR
Richie78 : 5/8/2012 3:33 pm : link
tore both hamstrings racing to accept the offer.
Geoman
aquidneck : 5/8/2012 3:34 pm : link
Reese said he wanted a second? I call bullshit. The only thing I remember him saying he would take is a 1.

From a value perspective a 2 and a 4 might be worth it in a vacuum, but this trade would greatly diminish our chances of repeating this year. It's all about this year as far as I'm concerned. I'd really, really rather we did not make this trade.

Fair enough.
Guys I already said it
kelsto811 : 5/8/2012 3:37 pm : link
Ralph posted a link and it was contained inside the link. He didn't post it directly. Probably should just delete because I guess prefacing the post with a warning doesn't even matter

The Original G Man : 5/8/2012 3:46 pm : link
I just went through Ralph's Twitter feed from the last 48 hours twice and can find no such link. Are you sure it wasn't somebody else?
No
kelsto811 : 5/8/2012 3:49 pm : link
He posted this link to "suria"...whatever that is I thought it was an extension of twitter. Either way apparently it updates relevant Giant news including all of the beat writers on there. I never said Ralph tweeted it I said I was browsing his twitter and came across it.
When you read a thread titled "rumor"
Danthebigbluefan : 5/8/2012 3:49 pm : link
I think it's pretty clear the subject is a rumor. So why are you complaining if there's no validation.

Besides, the point of "stickying" threads is they are Giants related and trending/have a lot of reply posts. Nothing wrong with that.
kelsto, could you please post a link to Ralph's actual post?
3rdandSmith : 5/8/2012 3:59 pm : link
You said "Saw it browsing Ralph Vacchiano's twitter." You say he didn't tweet it, but posted it to suria. I don't know what that is.

Please just post the link to how you found this browsing Ralph's twitter...
The problem is that ...
The Original G Man : 5/8/2012 3:59 pm : link
The original post is poorly worded. It implied that Ralph linked to the rumor somehow when he did not.
If this were true
Rflairr : 5/8/2012 4:02 pm : link
It would already be done
Why is this
LS : 5/8/2012 4:03 pm : link
crap pinned?
Not sure what suria is....
Giantfan in skinland : 5/8/2012 4:05 pm : link
closest thing I can find linking Ralph to this is a fan comment to one of his blog posts.

Not sure if this will work
kelsto811 : 5/8/2012 4:05 pm : link
but here was his tweet it was a news story relating to Eli...I clicked it and sure enough saw the rumor below his news story

I figured if Ralph is linking the site it has to have some sort of credentials. Amazingly the link to the story is GONE (unless someone can find it in the archives). It is whatever it was there about an hour ago whether you guys believe it or not.

I would feel more comfortable with an "un-sticky" because I honestly wasn't trying to cause a stir just pass along possible news
rflair
aquidneck : 5/8/2012 4:05 pm : link
Just cause you would do it doesn't mean Reese would.
Imagine the headlines?
mrvax : 5/8/2012 4:09 pm : link
"Reese Flogs the Dolphins!"
If true, tempting
Kyle in NY : 5/8/2012 4:11 pm : link
but since we're post 2012 draft, I'm still inclined to hang on to Osi(assuming he'll eventually play). We've got a great chance to compete for another title and he makes it easier to do that, despite being a pain in the ass.
if true
UConn4523 : 5/8/2012 4:20 pm : link
its probably the best offer we are going to get. The #2 pick would be around pick #40.
I hope whoever stickied this i hope checked
Rich Houston-NYG-WR-1971 : 5/8/2012 4:28 pm : link
to make sure the rumor i valid.
Rich, really?
Jay in Saratoga : 5/8/2012 4:32 pm : link
You've posted more bullshit rumors on this site than any other poster.

Tell me Rich, have you overheard any recent Giants plans at the Tick-Tock Diner lately?
Holy crap people
Larry from WV : 5/8/2012 4:37 pm : link
he posted a rumor he saw. He didn't sticky it or ask for it to be stickied. Would you rather no one post anything they read till the national media has picked it up?
hang him
UConn4523 : 5/8/2012 4:38 pm : link
...
I think Rich...
FatMan in Charlotte : 5/8/2012 4:39 pm : link
was posted that Eli was going to miss significant time with the separated shoulder.

He's a batshit crazy version of John Fucking Clayton.
FMiC
Jay in Saratoga : 5/8/2012 4:41 pm : link
There was also a trade for Roy Williams (WR) that was a done deal that Rich overheard Jerry Reese talking about at the Tick-Tock Diner.
all that info I heard i got was from an ex friend of mine who was
Rich Houston-NYG-WR-1971 : 5/8/2012 4:48 pm : link
in dallas near the sideline and he told me through text that Eli was hurt..I just relayed the info and believe me I was sorry i did that and that was the only time i gave out bad info.

I was correct about the Lavar arrington signing..and that i did hear at the tick tock before it happened. That doesn't excuse the person who stickied this thread.
Now is not the time. Wait until the pre-season. If another team
Marty in Albany : 5/8/2012 5:00 pm : link
has an injury to a starter, they will be willing to make a better offer. Also, by waiting, the Giants will have a better understanding of how well they can play without Osi.

I apologize if this has already been said.
To be fair
Fred in Atlanta : 5/8/2012 5:06 pm : link
Eli did say in Americas Game that the doctor told him he would be out 3-4 weeks, but Eli did not allow himself to be out that long. Most players would have probably missed at least 2 weeks.

I love the rumors....
drkenneth : 5/8/2012 6:15 pm : link
Isn't this supposed to be fun? Where there is smoke, there is fire.
I was once told Giants had a big signing to be announced
Carl in CT : 5/8/2012 6:29 pm : link
I rushed to this board and told everyone to stay tuned. The signing was Dusty Ziegler (a starting center for awhile). I was so blasted on this board I guess they were looking for Barry Sanders. Since that day i will never post another rumor or fact I'm told by an associate who has connections. It doesn't pay to be an asshat here. For some that have been around here (since the big blue home page) might remember this incident
Yup Carl.
River Mike : 5/8/2012 6:59 pm : link
And the site is diminished because of it.
I am in the minority, but I wouldn't do it.
steve in ky : 5/8/2012 7:06 pm : link
The team just came off winning a championship. I want them heading into next season with the best chance at a repeat. Osi on the roster next season offers that best chance.
any chance this rumor was floated BEFORE
andrew_nyg : 5/8/2012 7:06 pm : link
Wake signed? Great motivation for them to get the deal done.

While we're fantasizing how about Osi and a 3rd for Long and a 5th?

They could move Beatty to the right side and have a nice set of bookend OT's
That is a tempting offer
RB^2 : 5/8/2012 7:11 pm : link
but Osi can be the difference in another championship run. The NFC is really competitive. That's a huge amount of incremental talent we'd be losing just to do what teams that WANT to get to our position would do.
RB
steve in ky : 5/8/2012 7:17 pm : link
Yeah, one could argue we might not have won it last season without Osi. I want Osi playing hungry in his contract year on the roster. I want the Giants to repeat, something they haven't yet been able to pull off.

Once again a complete asshole. Just look at his pictures he posts on his profile a complete loser who hides behind his posts. People like u stop the asshats from posting.
Carl:
mrvax : 5/9/2012 7:40 am : link
Maybe River Mike was being serious. BBI player rumors are usually entertaining. I just don't understand how people can grill the poster when the poster admits it's just a rumor.
funny how sensitive
aquidneck : 5/9/2012 7:48 am : link
People become on internet boards. Guilty of it myself. Find myself getting angry when people don't agree with me or post a contradictory opinion forcefully. Why should I take it personally? It's just an opinion

Some posters seem to have snarky condescending posting styles, so there is that, but we all know that it's easy to confuse sincerity with sarcasm on the internet

Why the hell
djstat : 5/9/2012 8:43 am : link
Are people in such a rush to get rid of a guy who brings in double digit sacks just for a 2 and a 4? I'd rather keep Osi, get 10 more sacks out of him this year and get nothing in return when he leaves via free agency. If the dolphons offer a 1 thats a different story.

Some knuckleheads here are too into playing arm chair GM. Great pass rushers do not fall off trees. Before Osi, name the other great pass rusher we had next to Strahan for years?
Carl, I THINK
Randy in CT : 5/9/2012 8:54 am : link
River Mike was saying that he wished you posted stuff like that again.

Carl, you had 2 ways to intrepret River Mike's post
Andy in Halifax : 5/9/2012 9:01 am : link
and you choose the negative way. Pretty sure you also read it the wrong way, but that's not really the point.
And what the hell do

the pictures of his family in his profile have to do with anything?
