Rumor: Dolphins offer 2nd and 4th for Osi?

RUMOR...INSIDE RUMOR

Had to put that out there because well it is out there...Might be worth discussing. Saw it browsing Ralph Vacchiano's twitter and it was posted on Scout.com. For the record I really don't believe it but where are the BBI asshats when you need them?

Carl, I would say that attitude towards passed along inside info

has changed for the better over the years. I wasn't around on BBI when we signed Ziegler so I don't have any recollection of your experience with sharing information. I can think of several occasions in my time on BBI when someone has broken a scoop before it hit the media and while not everyone believed it they didn't necessarily attack the poster for sharing what he believed to be inside information from a credible source.

I can remember a guy who lived in Tiki's building breaking the news that we cut Arrington, Emmons and Petigout because he heard it from Tiki himself. Aside from the exception of one or two idiots, I don't remember the guy who broke the Steve Smith to the Eagles story taking much flack prior to news hitting the media. Heck, we were even mostly receptive to that asshole who ended up scamming people out of fantasy football money when he claimed his sister was friends with Hixon when he told us Hixon had been traded to Cleveland in a deal for Braylon Edwards.

Now where people do catch flack for posting rumors is when they have a rep for posting bullshit to get attention (Rich Houston) or when they have just signed up and don't make any kind of case for why we should believe them. Those 2 types of people catch shit all the time and they should because 99% of them are pathetic losers. If we miss out on the scoop that other 1% of the time it's worth it, because the beating those idiots take probably discourages other idiots from doing the same.

In general people who link to rumors on other forums don't get attacked directly. If someone saying the rumor is bullshit hurts the posters feelings, they need to get over it. It's not like BBI is saying you or your close personal friend is an asshole for telling us this. They're just saying I think this thing on the internet you happened to stumble across before anyone else is likely bullshit.

The only thing I saw people on this thread giving flack over was the fact that this shaky rumor got stickied and that the OP claimed he saw it on Ralph's twitter (likely a deciding factor in the thread being stickied). The few of us that did some research found that it is absolutely not on Ralph's twitter timeline or in any of his expanded tweets on that sulia site. Whether this deception was by design or incompetence of the OP, that is where people had the issue.

kelsto is not an insider so we aren't risking driving him away. And anyone with inside contacts and even mildly competent critical thinking skills isn't seeing this thread as a reason to not share inside information.

way to ruin a good pile-on with level headedness and reasoning. ;)
And btw ...

The poster at the link says he "read an insider rumor" ... Now, I may be wrong, but I interpret that as meaning the "rumors" section on ESPN's "Insider" page.

For the record, there is no such rumor, or even speculative conjecture, over there about Osi going to Miami.

(Side note - I find it funny how on that other message board there is no curiosity whatsoever by any of the posters about whether it's BS or not. They all just accept that guy's word and believe trade talks are in the works with the Dolphins)
Here's an example of a guy who will catch shit

Don't ever agree with Carl
The Giants would consider trading Osi for a 1st round pick
GeofromNJ : 5/9/2012 6:12 pm : link
I say, consider, not absolutely make the trade. Short of that, Osi is a Giant for 2012. GMs always say they draft for the future, but this is an exaggeration. If the GM thinks his team can win this year with the players he has, he keeps his players. Winning a SB is not a given. It's very rare. When the opportunity presents itself, you go for it. The Giants have an excellent chance to repeat with Osi. Without him, it's problematic.
Sorry
