So what you're saying
Semipro Lineman : 5/15/2012 4:11 pm : link
is that the moderators need a simple problem-solving decision route tree to follow...
Bring out the lions?

I mean

Trust me - I am not a boob.

I seldom get stared at that long.

And people rarely play with me for long periods of time.

There is no double standard.

(keep repeating and it may come true)

Dubs : 5/15/2012 4:12 pm : link
Honestly, didn't even see that. I was responding to Wuphat. Cool B has earned himself a little TO.
Well, I wasn't expecting this when I opened this thread.
Sneakers O'toole : 5/15/2012 4:13 pm : link
Maybe it is time for a short timeout for JJ. I think you should ban him on Friday, and then on the third day raise his handle back to the board.
Wuphat
Dubs : 5/15/2012 4:13 pm : link
The double standard being that we're pro-evangelicalism and anti-atheism? You really don't believe that, right?
WE WANT BLOOD

I can see this thread really turning out well...
darasman : 5/15/2012 4:14 pm : link
Jesus!!
The double standard lies within something like this
Berrylish : 5/15/2012 4:18 pm : link
One person makes a sexist joke of a comment that no woman on the board was offended by, and here is someone like JJ who repeatedly throws in his beliefs and pisses off many people. The first person gets banned, JJ remains. Many are offended that they have to read his religious tidbits on a board and in a thread dedicated to football. it was uncalled for and ignorance is no excuse.
No
Wuphat : 5/15/2012 4:18 pm : link
What I believe is that JJ has now across two threads in four days (that I have seen) has repeatedly spewed his religious crap despite multiple people requesting that he cease with no sanctions other than a warning (which we all know does nothing) while I was just banned outright for one instance of doing the opposite without a warning.

Sorry if that comes across as bitter, but your decision making reminds me of Brandon Shanahan this offseason.

Call me Stubickle.
Jesus Joe?
Semipro Lineman : 5/15/2012 4:18 pm : link
...
And in fact,
Wuphat : 5/15/2012 4:20 pm : link
PLEASE, don't ban him.

That will just allow him to use it as some kind of allegory to martyrdom.
Wup
darasman : 5/15/2012 4:20 pm : link
Yup....
If we ban him now
Giantology : 5/15/2012 4:22 pm : link
he shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine
....
BrettNYG10 : 5/15/2012 4:22 pm : link
So this Jake Muasau... Any potential?
Well, Wuphat, a few things
Dubs : 5/15/2012 4:22 pm : link
A) This is the first thread I've seen it on. I wasn't on BBI this weekend, I was barely on yesterday.

B) Unlike Shanahan, not every line of BBI policy is codified. There are general rules. We've tried, in the past, to outright ban people who crossed boundaries, without any distinction. It didn't work. This is a constantly evolving thing that will always be imperfect, because there is not one single person sitting down and reading over every thread and developing policy accordingly. There will be discrepencies in punishments. It's going to happen. It's not because of a double-standard, it's because we deal with a myriad of issues on a day-to-day basis, the vast majority of which you never see or hear about, which means that when I see something like Jersey Joe on this thread and make a snap decision, I'm not always going to instantly remember your situation. Same with any other moderator.

3) Your constant use of "no offense" is the most insulting part of your posts. Own it, or don't.
Where does this leave
nygirlie : 5/15/2012 4:26 pm : link
The Dalai Lama?
I've used
Wuphat : 5/15/2012 4:30 pm : link
"no offense" exactly once.

Once = constant?

Now you sound like Kyle just making up new definitions to words as you see fit.

I get that you guys have a thankless job. And generally, you guys take way more shit than is necessary. But that doesn't negate or invalidate my perception from where I'm sitting.

I believe you when you say all of what you did in your 2nd point. As I said, I had a gripe. I aired it.

And
Semipro Lineman : 5/15/2012 4:32 pm : link
now it's time to change some diapers
Wup
darasman : 5/15/2012 4:33 pm : link
no offense....
i think
Les in TO : 5/15/2012 4:35 pm : link
the gmen should be more religiously diverse. bring in josh scobee (buddhist), the safety abdullah on the vikings for some islam and sage rosenfels as the third stringer for some Judiasm. I think it would result in a more diverse and mutually rewarding lockerrom.
dubs - he shouldn't be here on account of a thread from Saturday
Nitro : 5/15/2012 4:36 pm : link
(I was reading it on my phone - I don't think it survived the night) where he talked about the sin of homosexuality & judgement under god etc etc. Same vainglorious bullshit he always spews - I wouldn't think BBI wants an association with his bigoted way of life, but Wuphat should know better.

Joe,
Curtis in VA : 5/15/2012 4:37 pm : link
You're motivations in your most recent comments are anything but sincere. If you really are a Christian and take those beliefs seriously, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Curtis...
Wuphat : 5/15/2012 4:39 pm : link
How've you been, man? I haven't seen you post much lately.
Dubs - just my two cents - the difference is that Jersey Joe
Del Shofner : 5/15/2012 4:52 pm : link
affirmatively reaches out to ruin the football-related side of BBI for others, and does so by means including religion. You shouldn't tolerate this. Most other people are just being clowns at times (including me) but Joe is both a hypocrite and spoils BBI for other people.

I also join in these comments:

Im good, thanks for asking. Just been busy the past couple months with work and my daughter has about 11 different doctors she sees so sometimes the schedule can get pretty full!
I hear you.

BB'56 - She was born with Prader Willi Syndrome so she just has to see a bunch of different specialists so they can monitor her condition. She is doing really fantastic though, considering the circumstances. Shes an awesome little girl. :-)

hard to imagine
Ahem...
Q : 5/15/2012 8:25 pm : link
Tap, tap tap, klank, klank, squeak, squeak, burp!

I guess this thread is still alive because the mods find it interesting, right?

So be it, let's have some fun.

Jesus got some love, the son of God, not the guy your step daughter is dating. Cool.

Blowjobs are good. Cool.

Football and religion does not mix, or shouldn't mix. Cool.

Individuality, not so good.

Expressing individuality, very bad.

Expressing spirituality. What the hell is that?

Pastafarianism, no love. Why?

Why no love, he has performed as many miracles this week as the guy your step daughter is dating.

Keep it light guys, its the dead space between all that is Giants.

As an aside, take a look in the mirror. That person you see is responsible for all your triumphs, and failures. You would not be here if that person in the mirror did not keep fighting to achieve the good and minimize the bad in his life. He is looking back at you, and he believes in you...

Happy Off Season!! Freaks!

Love the Q.

Joe, I enjoy reading your football posts ....

(Some I don't agree with), but most very thoughtful; they very often don't follow the "BBI Line", that makes them refreshing.

When it comes to religion, I'm not sure where you're coming from. Do you celebrate the believers or are you just plain "Bible Thumping" everybody else ?

It's been my experience here. that, basically everybody (as crazy & goofy as they act) here is very decent. I've seen where many have asked for prayer at difficult times - the response is always overwhelmingly supportive and positive.

I'm happy to see that this kid is a professing believer. Although I fall pitifully short every day, I like the goal set before us in Matthew 5:16:

"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven"
LOL
Giantology : 5/16/2012 5:24 pm : link
So, can we give Manny a time out?
Life has been very kind to me ....
Manny in CA : 5/16/2012 5:39 pm : link
Giantology, I'm blessed.

I think the first person to really understand my eccentricity was my 7th grade Language Arts teacher. She said of my best friend and me - "Royce & Manny, they're No Good". I've been smiling since.
My personal favorite:

I was reading that book you recommended to me - where the protagonist/good guy kills more people than the antagonist/bad guy.

IDK how that works... Seems as if people got who the good guy is wrong.

I'll shoot you an email about it tonight.
I'm a fan of all of these
