When many were gushing about Rex in 2009 and 2010,
Exit 172 : 1/8/2013 1:12 pm : link
some of us were saying, "I wouldn't want that guy anywhere near the Giants' head coaching job. Wait until this team hits some adversity, and it will implode."

And here we are.

Rex learned how to run his offense at the pool last week?
Mike Nickeas : 1/8/2013 1:15 pm : link
Wow, this is just sad
"I learned it at the pool last week"
bigblueviator : 1/8/2013 1:15 pm : link
ha!
How are you going to fix the offense?
Stu : 1/8/2013 1:15 pm : link

I haven't listened to Mike in years
Moondwg : 1/8/2013 1:16 pm : link

NNJ Tom : 1/8/2013 1:17 pm : link
he is killing Rex.

Awesome
Rex is getting absolutely

destroyed. "The problem is still here."
Somebody give me whatever they gave Rex
Bobby Humphrey's Earpad : 1/8/2013 1:17 pm : link
at the pool last week.
One thing I disagree with Mike about is that he said that Rex
Optimus-NY : 1/8/2013 1:18 pm : link
didn't have a player imposed on him. That's not true. Rex went on record stating that WR, Steven Hill wasn't his pick.
....
yankees78 : 1/8/2013 1:18 pm : link
Someone at home needs to record all of this
This is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stu : 1/8/2013 1:18 pm : link

Optimus,
Dave in Hoboken : 1/8/2013 1:19 pm : link

Great stuff
how about not re-signing Plax?
bigblueviator : 1/8/2013 1:19 pm : link
biggest mistake of the offseason IMO
Whenever Rex finally is dismissed from the Jets,
Exit 172 : 1/8/2013 1:19 pm : link
I can't imagine how much damage he will leave in his wake. What a disaster he is for the Jets, and how many Jets fans even like him anymore?
he is so right that it's hard to keep laughing

read during the commercial

Quote:
Mike Francesa doesn’t know who sportspope is, per se. But he has an image of sportspope, and his or her ilk, firmly planted in his head.

“(A) bunch of teenagers, and a bunch of people who have a lot of time, and no lives, who just put vile stuff up about everybody on the Internet,” he says, confidently leaning back in his office chair. “We all know that. You can go find that on any public person. I don’t care if you’re talking about the President of the United States. I don’t care if you’re talking about any athlete. I don’t care if you’re talking about me. There’s vile stuff out there that’s not true.”

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING FRANCESA - ( New Window )

In no particular order:
1) The Tiki interview/dismantling in 2011
2) Today's Rex rant.
3) The TC and Reese interviews last week.

I know all recent, but I'm getting older :). Hard to remember 25 years worth, many before internet radio.
Rex is like all the mogwai who ate after midnight, and became
Optimus-NY : 1/8/2013 1:26 pm : link

jlukes : 1/8/2013 1:28 pm : link
and didnt let Rex come on his show today.
Rex was invited on the show, declined.
Victor in CT : 1/8/2013 1:29 pm : link

And the Jets presser was an precendented public display of how not to run a franchise. It's more than newsworthy.

The only thing that would've made it better is if they had the Buttfumble playing in a loop behind Ryan.

The season is a disaster. You fire everyone EXCEPT the head coach, and what's more you give said clown of a head coach input into the hiring of a GM? Most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time.

why would you be "ecstatic" when you lose the championship game? The Giants are mortified when you mention the 2000 Superbowl.

You lost the AFC title game!

and my impression of Rex was that he really did not have a focus on the details of the game at all. Before the game, he just walked around and glad-handed non-players. He did not seem to have any interest in anything going on on the field.

I predict a miserable fall unless he gets great assistants and lets them do everything, including motivation of players.
HA!! You want me to find a direction for you??

in the NFL? One reason I think that JF doesn't get a job is because he always made it about him. He couldn't even get fired like a man and keep his mouth shut. He had to resign and make the story about him. I'm calling the plays, I'm not calling the plays, I'm calling the plays again. UGH!
Fassel as Jets OC?
Section331 : 1/8/2013 3:23 pm : link
Wow, that would be fun on so many levels! Plus, it's not the worst idea in the world for the Jets. Whatever you think of Fassel, he has a good offensive mind, and who the hell else is going to take the job? One of Woody's kids?

AFC title games. The Giants don't even acknowledge losing that SB to the Ravens. The organization acts as if it never happens.
I can understand having good memories of the 2009 run
Greg from LI : 1/8/2013 3:28 pm : link
It was completely out of nowhere, a mediocre team that caught fire kind of like the 1986 Rangers making a Cinderella run to the Wales Conference finals before the Canadiens smacked them around. Honestly, I feel the same way about the 2000 Giants. It was a fun ride until the end, and the 41-0 game is still a great memory. I sure as hell wouldn't tout it as a sign of success, though.
at least 41-0 was a WIN. lol

The job they're offering isn't even a GM position if the 6-10 head coach is part (all?) of the hiring process.

When's the last time you hired your boss?

Nobody with any other options would take the job.

The reason why Jets fans love their championship game losses...
an_idol_mind : 1/8/2013 4:00 pm : link
Different fan bases have different perspectives for success.

Giants fans have a franchise that has won a Superbowl in each of the last four decades, which has not finished below .500 since 2004, and has only had 9 losing seasons since 1983. For us, a Super Bowl is successful and missing the playoffs is a waste of a season.

Comparatively, Jets fans have a franchise that hasn't won a Super Bowl since before man walked on the moon. They've had a top 5 pick more often than they've won a playoff game. To them, any game in January is a big deal, win or lose. The fact that they play in the same division as the Patriots also means that many Jets fans would take a 2-14 season if it meant beating the Patriots twice.

Bottom line: we have it really nice as fans.
Ira from Staten Island
moespree : 1/8/2013 4:00 pm : link
Might be the weirdest person I've ever heard.

Like you said he calls 20 different shows and only about the Jets. Only. That's it. He'll call about the Jets in March, April, June, etc. Doesn't mater what tmie of the day or time of the year it is. He'll call in to someone to talk Jets.

What a sad existence. Sit around and listen to WFAN and ESPN NY all day long and as soon as someone says the word "Jets" pick up the phone to ask about the O-Line or something.

Weirdo.

No offense, but you seem to spend way too much time on Jets threads. Personally, I'd say you are absolutely a Jets fan. Actually, I don't think there's any doubt. You keep trying to throw everyone off, but it's just to damn obvious. If there's a Jets thread, you're on it.

While I certainly understand, you couldn't be more wrong. Im sorry you feel otherwise. I admit that I defer to this board for knowledgable Giants news and don't have much to offer. Why do I post on Jets threads? Well, I'll offer you a brief reason. My inlaws are all Jets fans but not smart NFL savvy fans but Staten Island gamblers. In 2009-2010, I heard a lot of the same chest thumping so yes, times like Christmas Eve 2011 or today have a bit more enjoyment. There isn't enough time and space to get into why I turned into this jet obsessed person.

Anyway, if you don't mind, I'd like to stick around and read about my favorite team, the Giants.

Or do they shorten your recovery time? Both? People want to argue that athletes used PEDs to stay healthy, and then conversely argue that their injury history suggests PED use.
