Raise youh hands if you think dat Rex is sophisticated Â
some of us were saying, "I wouldn't want that guy anywhere near the Giants' head coaching job. Wait until this team hits some adversity, and it will implode."
Mike Francesa doesn’t know who sportspope is, per se. But he has an image of sportspope, and his or her ilk, firmly planted in his head.
“(A) bunch of teenagers, and a bunch of people who have a lot of time, and no lives, who just put vile stuff up about everybody on the Internet,” he says, confidently leaning back in his office chair. “We all know that. You can go find that on any public person. I don’t care if you’re talking about the President of the United States. I don’t care if you’re talking about any athlete. I don’t care if you’re talking about me. There’s vile stuff out there that’s not true.”
it was a little different work environment for me back then, couldn't listen. I would imagine similar vein to Mike covering Sandy and LIPA situation this year.
Rex gets his do-over and woody and rex are talked about on the radio all day. The content does not matter,(good but always bad). They are relevant if you wanna call that relevant. Sad day for Jets fans
The season is a disaster. You fire everyone EXCEPT the head coach, and what's more you give said clown of a head coach input into the hiring of a GM? Most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time.
Yelling about how bad the roster was when Rex took over, and then he changed the subject when Mike says "Let's look at the players Mangini and Tannenbaum brought in versus the players Rex and Tannenbaum brought in".
and my impression of Rex was that he really did not have a focus on the details of the game at all. Before the game, he just walked around and glad-handed non-players. He did not seem to have any interest in anything going on on the field.
I predict a miserable fall unless he gets great assistants and lets them do everything, including motivation of players.
in the NFL? One reason I think that JF doesn't get a job is because he always made it about him. He couldn't even get fired like a man and keep his mouth shut. He had to resign and make the story about him. I'm calling the plays, I'm not calling the plays, I'm calling the plays again. UGH!
Wow, that would be fun on so many levels! Plus, it's not the worst idea in the world for the Jets. Whatever you think of Fassel, he has a good offensive mind, and who the hell else is going to take the job? One of Woody's kids?
God, these clips of Rex they're playing in the 20 are just hilarious. You haven't done a good enough job of getting the point across to the team about what kind of football you want them to play.....after four years on the job????
it's interesting TTH, the JESTS keep bragging about losing 2 Â
It was completely out of nowhere, a mediocre team that caught fire kind of like the 1986 Rangers making a Cinderella run to the Wales Conference finals before the Canadiens smacked them around. Honestly, I feel the same way about the 2000 Giants. It was a fun ride until the end, and the 41-0 game is still a great memory. I sure as hell wouldn't tout it as a sign of success, though.
picking up Rex Ryan's drycleaning, and getting in early each morning to delete his browsing history from his late night "film" session the night before...
Oh. And shining his shoes.
HA! Mike was worried about the "ass-hat fumble" play Â
Different fan bases have different perspectives for success.
Giants fans have a franchise that has won a Superbowl in each of the last four decades, which has not finished below .500 since 2004, and has only had 9 losing seasons since 1983. For us, a Super Bowl is successful and missing the playoffs is a waste of a season.
Comparatively, Jets fans have a franchise that hasn't won a Super Bowl since before man walked on the moon. They've had a top 5 pick more often than they've won a playoff game. To them, any game in January is a big deal, win or lose. The fact that they play in the same division as the Patriots also means that many Jets fans would take a 2-14 season if it meant beating the Patriots twice.
Like you said he calls 20 different shows and only about the Jets. Only. That's it. He'll call about the Jets in March, April, June, etc. Doesn't mater what tmie of the day or time of the year it is. He'll call in to someone to talk Jets.
What a sad existence. Sit around and listen to WFAN and ESPN NY all day long and as soon as someone says the word "Jets" pick up the phone to ask about the O-Line or something.
..but he apparantly granted an interview to Michael Kay and Don Lagrecca. I haven't heard it but it sounds like it got slightly heated. Damien Woody is on now and he doesn't seem to be holding back on Rexy.
to air his show at the press conference? I don't even know how Francesa had the balls to ask them that, or even thought that they would say anything but no.
But if they did...Good God, it might be the best sports radio day in history today. Fuckin' Jets.
picked JAX over the Jets, after declining the Jets during a 2nd interview...that's what I'm seeing on the twitter from Glazer, etc.
If true, Caldwell (and any other legit GM candidate) won't want to be Rex's water boy in Florham Park. JAX is supposed to be the worst GM job in the league
Rex's blather his first couple years gave them something to feel good about, albeit briefly
They're really suffering now that he's been exposed as a fat loser full of nothing but hot air
I really feel bad for a couple buddies...theyre loyal Jets fans, and they know their team is a laughingstock. They were the first to say the Tebow trade was absurd
No offense, but you seem to spend way too much time on Jets threads. Personally, I'd say you are absolutely a Jets fan. Actually, I don't think there's any doubt. You keep trying to throw everyone off, but it's just to damn obvious. If there's a Jets thread, you're on it.
While I certainly understand, you couldn't be more wrong. Im sorry you feel otherwise. I admit that I defer to this board for knowledgable Giants news and don't have much to offer. Why do I post on Jets threads? Well, I'll offer you a brief reason. My inlaws are all Jets fans but not smart NFL savvy fans but Staten Island gamblers. In 2009-2010, I heard a lot of the same chest thumping so yes, times like Christmas Eve 2011 or today have a bit more enjoyment. There isn't enough time and space to get into why I turned into this jet obsessed person.
Anyway, if you don't mind, I'd like to stick around and read about my favorite team, the Giants.
Danny - I don't have that one unfortunately with all the Fandroids at Â
Or do they shorten your recovery time? Both? People want to argue that athletes used PEDs to stay healthy, and then conversely argue that their injury history suggests PED use.
but hey, today is a do-over!

And here we are.
Mike Francesa killing on WFAN right now. Utmost respect for this guy who always lays it out there like he sees it. Amazing.
BOOM
Awesome

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING FRANCESA - ( New Window )
1) The Tiki interview/dismantling in 2011
2) Today's Rex rant.
3) The TC and Reese interviews last week.
I know all recent, but I'm getting older :). Hard to remember 25 years worth, many before internet radio.
The fact they have or had jobs coaching in the NFL is unbelievable.
Go Mike!!!
He's on fire today, though.
this minute, "this was a gutless press conference."
Fuckhead.
Rex is such a high level of clown, he trumps all.
these are the same callers that used to call Roger Clemens, "Clem-ings".
And the Jets presser was an precendented public display of how not to run a franchise. It's more than newsworthy.
The only thing that would've made it better is if they had the Buttfumble playing in a loop behind Ryan.
Dammit.
With SF's Tom Gamble's star not as bright with the Jets right now, hearing NYJ assistant GM Scott Cohen gaining support.

"Star not as bright" my ass, nobody else wants the fucking job!
Continuity is great, if the guys you have can get the job done. If you have a clownish blowhard, not so much.

They're just happy to be in playoff games, I swear.
God, these clips of Rex they're playing in the 20 are just hilarious. You haven't done a good enough job of getting the point across to the team about what kind of football you want them to play.....after four years on the job????
Holy shit. This guy is off-the-charts delusional.

Jets now Giants - ( New Window )
When's the last time you hired your boss?
Nobody with any other options would take the job.
Hence the inhouse assistant "gaining support".
Oh. And shining his shoes.
Two years later the Rangers are coming off a deep playoff run with a young team and the Jets are a laughingstock.

Bottom line: we have it really nice as fans.

Weirdo.
Guys, we're so glad we aren't Jets fans. Of course. But we're also so glad that the Jets are around to make us laugh. What a circus.
"We asked for Rex to come on but he declined. It's too bad because you think he'd have the guts to come on and answer some legitimate questions."
About 2 minutes later with a caller:
"I never call anyone gutless."
But if they did...Good God, it might be the best sports radio day in history today. Fuckin' Jets.
Wasn't that a blemish on Andy Reid's Eagles for a while - that they couldn't win conference championship games?
Woody, Rex, and many Jets fans puff their chests over it.
