this social media, posting pics, tell the world all about myself. This kind of thing can stick with a young athlete especially someone coming from a very poor background...is the money and fame getting to his head. Maybe that is why he wasn't in the shape he needed to be last year.

Yes, this is a concern...I understand being young and so forth but perhaps the guy needs someone to have a little chat with him going forward.

Again, this is why I don't think you pay young guys too soon...let's wait and see.

Just seeing what people thought. No need to be a prick. You enjoy or dont care about seeing the star defensive end posting pics of his stacks of money in a strip club and him and his boys passed out on a 6 a.m. ride home from the club others might have some concerns. Just opened it for discussion.

If I had the money and notoriety as JPP when I was 24, I would probably be in jail.

It's a concern in that you hope he keeps his head on straight, but there's someone who works for the Giants who's job it is to carry that concern, not fans.

There is a direct correlation between Instagram use and performance.

Unfortunately, this isn't mitigated by the deletion of his Twitter, as there has not been shown to be any correlation between Twitter use and performance.

No one said to cut him. LT is the greatest Giants player of all time and the dude was a coke head who partied constantly. All I was asking was if it concerned anyone based on his production being down this season.

The correlation is "too much too fast" He had a previous account with party pics from the summer too. Like I said in the OP hes 24 i get it but was wondering if it was "too much" and seeing what others thought.

I don't wanna be a dick, I just think you need to separate the guy's personal life from his job and play on the field. If it was really getting in the way of his performance, I think we'd be hearing about it (and also, really seeing it).

His performance wasn't poor. But his numbers were down as teams changed their strategy and approach to him. And he was asked to bulk up a bit to play inside more. I'd look at stuff like this before pointing to his Instagram as why he had a down year in terms of statistics.

All those points are more the reason he was "down" this season. I just opened it up for discussion and never said JPP is a drunk and we must cut him etc. So many people on here are so quick to bash and be pricks instead of talking out or debating something intelligently. I was just looking for conversation around the topic. I even said in my OP "He's 24"

Twitter, Instagram or anything else. I care what they do for about four hours on Sundays (Mondays, Thursday). Otherwise, I really don't care.

If you follow them socially, you care. If you start a thread because you're uncomfortable with what you see, you perhaps care too much.

or his documenting such activities on the internet? It's certainly possible that a player spends too much time partying at the expense of staying in good enough shape. I don't see what instagram or twitter have to do with that, unless one thinks being on instagram or twitter is leading a guy to party too much. That seems like an awfully unlikely causal relationship to me.

The team does things quietly. If a coach were ever to out a player for partying too much to the papers, that would be the equivalent of "we tried to keep it in house, but he's not responding, so we'll make it public to push him a little bit".

Otherwise this thread wouldn't exist. And you didn't say anything about booze until a few minutes ago. Your concern was that he was partying too much. Drinking too much is a different thing.

But neither assessment could be reliably made from a series of snapshots. Other than from someone who is thinking about it too much.

Coming off an underwhelming year like this, you start to get the idea that he may not be taking his career seriously. A guy his age should be spending this time working on technique.. not partying 24/7 (and probably gaining MORE weight).

it's two weeks since his season ended. If I were an NFL player I'd probably give myself 4 to 6 weeks off at the end of the season with just minimum fitness and weight work. If he's still posting party pictures every night in March then maybe there is an issue.

if he's boozing it up too much? How many different nights are all those pictures from? Are they current or from prior years, perhaps even college? How long was he at these parties? How much did he drink at these parties?

There's some minimum level of working out and staying in shape JPP should meet. There's some maximum level of partying JPP should not exceed. I don't know how on earth a bunch of pictures of him having fun provides any indication if he's failing on either of those levels (unless he looks flabby I guess).
