Love him in round 2 for the NYG and I think the Giants love this guy too.
I saw several games this year and he shined in both aspects of the game. VERY aggressive blocker. He likes the block! However, the most impressive thing I saw was his short area quickness for his size. This guys is enormous. But he makes sharp sudden moves to make CBs and DBs whiff on the tackle.
He can plant and separate. And he can catch.
Keep an eye on him at the combine. He'll put on a good show.
It's not just the combine stuff, his game matches the AA. He can run and make plays in the pass game but he's also an excellent blocker.
I found this on Kelce today from Ex-N.F.L.scout/exec Bryan Broaddus. Most accurate summary I've seen. Mentions his stop-start quickness.
Of the five tight ends I studied today, this guy is the most complete….there is no questions about his blocker nor his ability to make plays with the ball in his hands… |
once he is on you, you are done... |
in a game that is played by tough guys, I would take him on my team for the things he can do on the field... |
when the ball is thrown his direction he snatches it with his hands and has the ability to make the first man miss…very good stop-start quickness… |

Round 2 value would be enormous if he is there.
Could be. I see him running low 4.6s and really working out like a champ. He could be a round 1 player. NOTHING is missing here.
I've gotten my final grading process under way...still have a lot to do...but Kelce grades out well across the board. And I have a lot of guys in the 79-81 range...Kelce just a notch higher.

Think a "more athletic Gronkowski"! Is that enough for you to forget about Robinson?
1) He produced nothing prior to his senior year.
2) He couldn't beat out Adrian Robinson for the starting TE spot on last year's team.
3) His current year stats may very well be inflated because there were no other viable pass receivers on the team. The leading WR on Cincinnati only had 542 yards receiving.
Surely there are better options for the Giants in round 2, Logan Ryan, Eddie Lacy, Tank Carradine, and Leon McFadden to name a few.
The NFL has enough film on him. He was outstanding this year and it had nothing to do with "no other receiving options".
Kelce will go round 2.
And round 1? He's very athletic. You'll see a lot of talk about him after the combine. If he performs at the combine he could go round 1.
LB, CB, OL, DE, are far more important. TE can wait.
(Why am I hearing Olivia Newton-John?)

Ertz, Eifert, Escobar, Kelce.. - ( New Window )
ertz is the best receiver of any TE in the draft, imo - ( New Window )
What may hurt Kelce's stock is not what he did/did not do in college but rather how the draft shakes out. At this point there are maybe 6 TE who deserve top 3 round draft status (in no particular order Eifert, Ertz, Escobar, Kelce, McDonald, Reed). If teams like Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta, and San Francisco do not take a TE in Round 1 I could see someone fall as teams assume they can get at least 1 of the 6 by waiting another round. That being said, as we see every year all it takes is one team to love a player for him to go above his projections (how many hear on BBI were scrambling when the Giants rushed to take Luke Petitgout over L.J. Shelton or Aaron Gibson?)
Sounds like he will probably be available at 49. I don't think he'll last to 81.
at least he'll get a chance to interview this weekend - ( New Window )
I get it - Kelce is a good Tight End prospect, I agree. But we lack prospects all over the place at more critical positions due to spotty drafting. We have nobody coming up the ranks at outside CB, MLB, G or C. Probaby DT and DE, too. Might need another OLB.
And we burn another 2nd round pick on a TE? I throw the remote.
Kelce was suspended for the entire 2010 season after breaking team rules ahead of the Sugar Bowl. The reasoning for the suspension was never revealed, but his transgression must have been pretty major. Kelce, the younger brother of Eagles starting center Jason, is sitting out the Combine due to an abdominal tear.
