Some Rumblings and Rumors

Vin_Cuccs : 2/21/2013 8:56 pm
Here we go:

This is most likely a huge, huge stretch, but there has apparently been some chatter about a trade between the Jets and Chiefs for CB Darelle Revis and the #9 pick for the #1 pick and the #63 pick. The Jets would then most likely use the #1 pick on QB Geno Smith.

The Jets have also discussed Seahawks QB Matt Flynn via trade.

The Jets are also looking to trade both QB's Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow. Apparently, the Cardinals have inquired about Sanchez.

Speaking of Revis, apparently the Titans, Chiefs, Lions and Broncos have inquired.

The Chiefs really want to trade down out of the #1 spot.

The Titans are trying to re-sign DT Sen'Derrick Marks and K Rob Bironas.

The Vikings are saying publically that they will not trade WR Percy Harvin but rumor has it that they are waiting for a monster offer.

The 49ers will wait for the best offer and then trade QB Alex Smith.

The Titans are looking for a RB to compliment RB Chris Johnson.

The Bengals are interested in RB Reggie Bush.

The Jets want WR Stephen Hill to get better.

The Ravens are working extremely hard to re-sign QB Joe Flacco.

Cowboys OT Doug Free might be a cap casualty.

LB London Fletcher is thinking about retirement.

The Cowboys and QB Tony Romo are talking contract extension.

Alamaba CB Dee Milliner has a torn labrum in his shoulder and will need surgery.

The Cowboys do not want to draft a QB.

The Giants are interested in re-signing WR Domenik Hixon.

The Texans are interested in re-signing DE Connor Barwin.

The Chargers won the waiver wire battle for CB Johnny Patrick over the Colts and Seahawks.

Thanks Vin.

So how many years in a row has Fletcher been "thinking" of retirement?
LOL

the Jets want Stephen Hill to be better.

Who is going to give a monster offer for Harvin, a fragile WR with a chronic migraine issue in addition to his other fragilities.

This has to be just a rumor. No way the Jets want him to get better.

Harvin is a bit of an ahole as well

Im a believer that the Jets should trade Revis but that would be a disastrous trade for them on a ton of levels.
Sanchez
Phil from WNY : 2/21/2013 9:10 pm : link
Nobody is going to take that contract. The Jets might be better off cleaning up their roster this year and structuring for 2014.

I could see the Bills going for Flynn, Cassell, or Smith but even the Bills aren't dumb enough to break the bank on any of them.
Hope Fletcher decides to hang them up

He has been the catalyst of the Skins D since he got there and played great against the Giants last season.
The Cardinals are honestly the only team I could see being
Riggies : 2/21/2013 9:34 pm : link
stupid enough to trade for Sanchez.

What's sad is that he'd a massive improvement over what they've had at QB lately and feel like a beacon of light probably for Fitzgerald to catch balls from.

If the Chiefs wanted a CB who cost a lot they would have kept B. Carr who while not as good as Revis would have been cheaper, younger and healthier. They need a QB, not a CB.

wow...the Giants are on fire this offseason!

quick question
The Dude : 2/21/2013 10:04 pm : link
where do you get all these rumblings and rumors from? They cant all be true. seems like an ESPN insider rumor mill or twitter rumors.
I would be pretty happy if London Fletcher retired

I'll take back Hixon
JoeyBigBlue : 2/21/2013 10:08 pm : link
He's a quality returner and 4th receiver. Pass on Chase Blackburn, time to move on.
HAHA.
AcidTest : 2/21/2013 10:16 pm : link
The Jets "want Stephen hill to get better."

Notice how many of these "rumblings and rumors" involve the Jets, especially their QB situation? Who is going to take the Sanchez contract? Giving up Revis and #9 for #1 and #63 seems like a lot less than what they were demanding just a week or so ago.
3 - 5 years of disappointment and anger
RobotGhost : 2/21/2013 10:36 pm : link
That seems to be the average penalty for swinging and missing with a high draft pick on a Franchise QB. Hell, the Raiders are still paying for taking Gallery instead of a QB in '04, then epic failing with the fat slug from Louisiana.

I strongly dislike Jim Harbaugh, but I give him a lot of credit for drafting Kaepernick and then giving him the reins over Mr. #1 pick.

The Jets..... Wow. I'm going to miss the Rex and Sanchize years after they're gone....

how'd that work out ?
PEEJ
stretch234 : 2/22/2013 7:00 am : link
Sanchez is light years ahead of Leinehart. Sanchez can play in the right system. Leinhart can't play at all in the NFL in any system
Sanchez can only play
PEEJ : 2/22/2013 7:09 am : link
in a system that requires 10 yard passes. He doesn't have the arm to threaten the sidelines
thanks Vin for doing this every day
Victor in CT : 2/22/2013 8:14 am : link
That trade would be a huge mistake for the JESTS. They reached to take Sanchez at #5 when nobody had him higher than mid-late 1st round. Now they want to reach at #1 overall for a guy who is a maybe? That's nuts. Maybe they really should sign Jamarcus Russell.
Vin,
Big Blue '56 : 2/22/2013 8:20 am : link
very minor request. Since this will most likely be a daily thread or almost so, could you put a date on the header, so we know it's the latest one(with others still floating around), especially if it doesn't wind up stickied?

it's called "rumblings and rumors" for a reason. It's all just shit that's been thrown against the wall. some of it will stick, some of it won't. believe what you will. Vin is just accumulating it in one spot for us. He's repeating rumors that he's seen on the internet. Like rumors everywhere in all walks of life, they're not all true.

I didn't realize how little guaranteed money Asomugha had

looks like no signing bonus and all the guaranteed money was in a roster bonus and portions of his base salaries. He can be cut next offseason for nothing.

Not sure why they'd cut him now. They have a ton of cap space.

Ace718 : 2/22/2013 9:49 am : link

Bested so-called professional management in contract negotiations.

And anyone who has ever seen him play knows that he is about the hardest working and toughest CB you will ever see. Yes, he has upper echelon physical gifts, but it is the effort and smarts which have made him the best CB out there.

Geno Smith will be disastrous at no 1.s
spike : 2/22/2013 1:38 pm : link
He is nowhere near the abilities of RG3, Andrew Luck, Bradford, stafford, Newton and all the other top QB picks in the recent past.
Smith is such a strange case...
Dunedin81 : 2/22/2013 1:43 pm : link
he has the physical tools and he certainly has the intelligence, but whether it is coaching or something else intangible he hasn't been able to bridge the gap between dominating performance and shitting the bed. This isn't a Russell or Leaf situation, Geno Smith is not a million dollar arm and a ten cent head, but it remains to be seen whether he puts it together at the next level.
I guess it maes sense that the Chiefs want out of No1 spot

Tennessee Tech WR Da'Rick Rogers admitted at the Combine to three failed drug tests that got him kicked out of the University of Tennessee. "I did it to myself," said a seemingly-truly contrite Rogers. "You have to accept responsibility for what you did and move forward. All I can do is come in, work hard and get my foot in the door." Rogers claims to have passed "10 drug tests" during his one season at Tennessee Tech.
Guess the speculation might be true...

I thought he was one of the best WR's in the country before he was kicked off the team. As long as he keeps his head on straight and works hard, he will be a good one in the NFL.
There are some very intriguing

I am also. He could be a similar scenario to 2005 when the Giants drafted Tuck in the 3rd round.
Anyone picking Geno Smith with the 1'st overall pick
Dave M : 2/22/2013 6:13 pm : link
is a joke but that would be the Jets. You give up your best player to move up 8 spots and draft a guy who realistically could be there when you pick at 9. Meanwhile Reid would get Revis and get the solid player he really wants at 9 which is probably Warmack. That would be a great deal for KC. Jets, again, would be a laughing stock.
hmm
