Adam Schein has done the impossible.
As a displaced Giant fan down here in Skinsland, with local sports talk hosts boasting single digit IQs and local sports talk callers matching them drool for drool and sounding like Benny “ Kid “ Paret after the third Griffith fight, I'm desperate for sports talk that doesn't suck and does tell me what I need to know about the Giants.
At first, The NFL on Sirius was my lifeline.
I usually caught it just about the time the Afternoon Blitz signed on.
Then I noticed the painful itching, the inflamed red bumps, the hives…..
Adam Schein's voice was causing me to break out in welts the size of silver dollar pancakes.
That was the day I went cold turkey and turned off the NFL on Sirius forever.
I'd rather listen to Christopher Russo read the entire Epic of Gilgamesh ( in ancient Sumerian ) than endure one more minute with Adam Schein.
Schein's a miserable broadcaster.
I hate bad radio, I probably take it too personally, but jeez louise, why hasn't the NFL on Sirius program director sat this jamoke down and forced him to listen to his own spewl?
His act is a compendium of broadcasting clichés.
That is not energy you're hearing, it's a bad broadcaster on very loud autopilot.
Imagine driving down the road with a guy in shotgun spouting a salvo of continuous, mindless clichés.
If something doesn't change, you're riding on the turnpike to hell.
So you either tell him to shut up or get the hell out of the car.

1. Mr. Schein, please stop shouting.
That thing in front of you is a mic.
Trust it to amplify your voice.
It works.
Screaming at me for 4 hours Monday through Friday is a real good way for me not to like you.

2. Work on varying the way you do your set up.
Every freaking thing he says is a mindless replay of what he said the day before – and the day before that….
Again, it's autopilot, not communication.
And think about what's behind the things you do say.
For instance, “ it's a Football Friday! “
Of course it is you excremental Blowfish.
You're broadcasting on NFL radio!
It's also a Football Monday, Football Tuesday, ad infinitum…..
Everyone who calls your show is not your “ good friend. “
Has any radio host ever displayed more spurious, ertsatz bonhomie?
Adam, are you really that excited that Phil from Camden, Todd from Tegucigalpa or Sven from Lake Hopatcong is on the line?

that he's been able to parlay his brutal radio performance into several high-profile TV gigs.
Usually when critiques of broadcasters are done on BBI you'll have someone express something positive about the personality regardless of the overall sentiment, but in Schein's case I've never heard anyone say anything remotely complimentary. Just about everyone I know changes the channel immediately when they hear his voice. I've always assumed that he's lasted as long as he has at Sirius because he's willing to work for the meager wages they offer.
It was such a shame to tune out NFL radio from 11-3, Â
and because he's part of the "Syracuse Mafia" (sports broadcasters, writers, & tv personalities of which Ralph Vacchiano is one). I can't believe that I used to like him when I was naive and young, lol.
I don't know why he would do this unless 1) they are paying him a lot more, 2) forcing him out 3) he wants to be more all around announcer like his SNY gig.
1st they moved Schein out of the 3-7pm time slot. Â
is the absolute worst interviewer on the planet. When he interviewed Mario Manningham along with Hasselbeck before the 08 draft I wanted to jump through my radio and strangle him! Ok, he asked the obligatory tough question about Mario's character after his positive test for Marijuana at the combine. Mario didn't want to talk about it, and told Schein he learned from the experience and he was just looking foreword to being drafted and the opportunity to play for an NFL team. Schein and Hasselbeck then proceeded to take turns basically asking him different versions of the same question over and over again. Schein would not accept the fact that he didn't want to get into detail about the matter and would not move on to other questions that listeners might want to know about. Instead Mario gave the same answer repeatedly, trying not to tell him to F%$#@k OFF like Im sure he wanted to.
That is Schein's method; ask the question that you know the player is not going to answer (ask a player to throw dirt on a coach, a GM, fellow teammate etc.) and then come back again with another question that any sane person who is familiar with NFL media on any level would know a player wouldn't answer. He always tries to get players to say controversial things no matter how many times they do not take the bait.
He belongs on Mad Dog Radio!!! HALLELUIAHH!!!
Now if they're smart over at NFL radio, they will Â

Either when Schein's contract is up OR they cancel Mad Dog's channel, this guy will be out of a job.
