I was real young when i did. If I had a time machine one of the first things i would do is go back to watch him play. I would love to see the difference now that i have an increase knowledge of the game.
Although when i was a kid and you think LT should just tackle the QB every play he didn't disappoint to often.
part of the contract would be that Matthews would have to
i know that's a lazy way of quantifying LT's impact on a game but that's how I would describe him. Fast and deadly. He was just faster than everyone else on the field and he hit like a truck.
During the second half of the '92 season, when LT was not playing
due to a torn Achilles, Madden, while doing a Giants games in which the Giants defense was unable to stop the opponent, said, "I use to think the Giants defense was pretty good, but now I'm beginning to think it was just Lawrence Taylor and ten other guys."
Don't think there will ever be another one again like LT. Inhuman at times.
Fast, unbelievably. I'll never forget sitting a few rows up in section 112 in 1990 when the Giants played the vikes late in the season. I remember on one play, I watching the LOS and out of no where from up the middle LT shot through like a bullet. It looked like everyone else was in slow motion. He just blew up Vike's QB (I believe) Sean Salsbury. That same game, LT blew up a play (and I swear the vike's OL were standing around awe during the play) strip Salsbury the ball and it rolled towards the sideline. LT who was on the ground near the QB, got up, and nearly recovered the ball about 10-15 yds away. Crazy talent!
Loved what he brought to the game..relentlessness,,etc.
