Pete in VA, it appears you have your answer.
so 6 years/$46 million?
YAJ2112 : 7/8/2013 1:17 pm : link
sounds good to me
the question is if this is really 6 years for $46 million

Kyle : 7/8/2013 1:18 pm : link
As an extension, even better.

@MikeGarafolo $15.6 million guaranteed for Curz, per Glaze
Woot!!!....
rptl530 : 7/8/2013 1:20 pm : link
if the $15.6m guaranteed is right.
interested to hear if that 15.6 is signing bonus
jlukes : 7/8/2013 1:21 pm : link
or total guarantees (signing bonus + guaranteed salary)
Highly doubt they mean 5+1
ZogZerg : 7/8/2013 1:21 pm : link
They mean 5 years for 43.
Cruuuuuuuuuuuuzzzzz

wow
GIANTSr01 : 7/8/2013 1:21 pm : link
if these numbers are accurate, AWESOME deal for the Giants! 6 yrs/$46M (~$7.7M per year and likely backloaded) PLUS only $15M guaranteed. That's likely a very cap friendly deal the next few seasons.
The 15.6
lono801 : 7/8/2013 1:21 pm : link
is basically what he was going to get paid this year and next after The Giants Hit him with the Tag...

No? Or close to it...
And by the way, nice job Giants...
Britt in VA : 7/8/2013 1:22 pm : link
that's a solid deal.
Fantastic

jlukes was fuckin' money on that prediction.

Salsa time!
jlukes
ZogZerg : 7/8/2013 1:23 pm : link
Great call! I remember that post.

8.6 mil per is a little more than I wanted the Giants to pay. We'll see how it works out.
So the Cruz threads will end now?
BigBlueinChicago : 7/8/2013 1:24 pm : link
Sad and happy day all at the same time.
Great news

Jay Glazer ‏@JayGlazer 24s
In Cruz's new extension he gets 15.6 mil in guarantees early in deal. Overall, really strong for Vic

Sounds like the signing bonus is small, but his salaries early on are guaranteed
This is why it pays...
Phil from WNY : 7/8/2013 1:26 pm : link
to ignore the wannabe salary-cap analysts.
Seems like
snumber6 : 7/8/2013 1:27 pm : link
both sides got what they wanted or needed ...

Cruz being a Giant for the rest of his career was top on the list for both sides ...
Giants got the dollars per years overall ... and Cruz got the dollars per yer post tender ...
His endorsements are rolling in.....
WideRight : 7/8/2013 1:27 pm : link
The hometown discount has become a hometown surplus.

Soon he's going to replace Strahan on the "Kelly and Victor" show. Smart man
Why wouldnt the Giants tag him?
lono801 : 7/8/2013 1:29 pm : link
I have read some pretty good arguments here why they would...
..
jd311 : 7/8/2013 1:30 pm : link
Ralph Vacchiano ‏@RVacchianoNYDN now
Victor Cruz's deal is technically a contract extension. He'll play for $2.879M this year, then a 5-year, $43M extension kicks in next year.

Ralph Vacchiano ‏@RVacchianoNYDN now
So he's now signed through 2018. And as @MikeGarafolo just noted, it's really a 6-year, $45.879M deal (with $15.6M guaranteed). #NYG
wow.

wow
teamschlitz : 7/8/2013 1:32 pm : link
6 years at 46 essentially? that is quite the deal for the giants.
Really surprised at the small guaranteed number
jcn56 : 7/8/2013 1:32 pm : link
But can't complain - glad to have him here to stay!
Beautiful,
NJGiantFan84 : 7/8/2013 1:32 pm : link

Seems like a win/win...
chrispisano66 : 7/8/2013 1:33 pm : link
Cruz gets his $$ and security from a top NFL franchise, which just so happens to be in his hometown and continues to play with a top-flight NFL QB.

The Giants keep their man and their flexibility to re-sign Nicks/JPP down the line if they choose to do so.

Today is a very good day.
6 years at 47 million?
islander1 : 7/8/2013 1:33 pm : link
holy crap, that's all kinds of win.
Wow.
Enoch : 7/8/2013 1:33 pm : link
No wonder Cruz was less than eager to sign quickly-- that's a *very* team-friendly deal.

The Giants have history of not paying wideouts, they often let em walk and replace thru draft. Makes Cruz's deal even more impressive
