with those numbers it's unlikely Eli re-restructured since the $2.8M already counted against the cap and they were in good cap shape next season and beyond.
deal for the Giants. As noted millions of times, this is why you should be patient with things like this. How many "Cruz is greedy" type threads did we really need?
Can people now accept that the giants and cruz were simply going through a very standard negotiation process?
Can't wait to see this happen with Nicks and that same contingent screams about how he's greedy, just like Cruz was.
with the guaranteed money and endorsements he's going to have locked in now. He also can say it's not "his" contract that hamstrings the franchise because this is a more then fair deal for the FO.
at least temporarily this idea that Reese is a mediocre GM and Cruz is a money-hungry diva? This is an absolutely fantastic deal that speaks well to both of these guys character and professionalism.
is that it sets the standard for negotiations with Nicks. It'll be feasible for the Giants to hold onto both these guys if Nicks decides to take similar money.
hope all the idiots who claimed he was a clown for taking this long go away. The guy did what was best for his family and it looks like both sides got a great deal.
If Cruz got any kind of immediate signing bonus, part of that has to be amortized against the '13 salary cap. While it's certainly possible that the big bonus payment is going to come at the beginning of the '14 League Year, it would absolutely floor me if Victor won't get at least a little cash in his pocket when he signs the deal.
What's also great about this deal

Nicks isn't going to take similar money. He wants outside reciever money. Cruz is top of the market slot reciever money.
with Aditi K. just said that he just signed the deal that was on the table from the get go. The one where Mara said if he signed it, he would be a very rich young man. So nothing new, we wouldn't budge and he took the offer that was there on the table.
- Greedy asshole Cruz needs to sign now!
- Cruz is going to the Steelers
- He spends too much time modeling
- He spends too much time as a shill for Time Warner
- Fuck him, let him walk we still have Nix
- Fuck him, let him walk we still have Jernigan who's ready for a breakout year
- Fuck him, let him walk Randall's ready to dominate because Jernigan sucks
- Fuck him, let him walk he drops too many balls and didnt block once
- Shit!!! He signed his tender!!! Damnit! This is the end! No more Curz!!!
- Yea!!!!! He signed his tender!!!
- Anybody hear from Curz?
- Sides are too far apart
- One year rental
- Sides are really close
- Yeah, whatever
- Could be today
- Could be tomorrow
- Woohooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Five year extension!!!!!!!!!! We're all geniuses and Curz rules!!!
The difference in endorsement money and other perks from playing in NY should more than offset any difference in salary Cruz would have received from another team.
Kevin, a franchise tag would be an enormous sum to be on the hook for
Nice job by Cruz to take it and rake in the NYC endorsements and business opportunities.
WIN-WIN-WIN
JR is in a great position to negotiate with Nicks now at an average of $8.5 per. Given last season and the time he missed due to injury through his 1st contract, that would be a helluva deal.

Big thumbs up for Cruz, too, for keeping quiet to the media during the whole affair.

now, we gurantee a few things with Nicks.
A) long term deal
B) Franchise and guranteed him in 2014
C) Trade to the Panthers for several picks, because thats where he wants to play if no NYG
Thank you Victor, you earned it, now on to Nicks.

Long live #80! Viva Cruz! Viva Cruz!
Jerry gets to enjoy a couple of cold Stella's tonight on his patio!
I hope he's happy about it, but based on the kind of guy he appears to be, I'm sure he is.
