FYI.
Giants Still Have Offer on Table for Vonta Leach; Q&As with David Merritt and Damontre Moore - ( New Window )
Leach must really not want to go back to Baltimore

I understand that there is no rush but how many teams are going to offer him more than the 2 million plus incentives? If a team does I would guess it would be slightly more. Maybe he is looking for a multi-year deal which doesn't look promising.

maybe it's an ego thing. You left a team thinking you are going to strike it rich, and realize the well has dried up. Teams are going to shower you with money, and now you realize, Oh crap, now I have to come back to the original team who played their cards right.

I believe it was that ego which made Brian U. retire. No one wanted to sign him, and instead of coming back he decided to retire.
What if we signed him for $3 mill

with a voidable 2nd year(as with Osi), hence the cap hit,per year would be $1.5 mill? That's assuming they want him for just one year

If healthy, he's an upgrade to Hyno.
If he was coming to NY

He'll wind up back in Baltimore if he knows what's good for him

He can then take his chances on the free agency market next year in March instead of in late summer like this year after teams have shot their wad.

Unless Leach just decides to retire, which I think would be foolish considering that the veteran minimum is better than nothing at all. But only he knows what's in his best interest.
Maybe Leach just wants to miss some camp before

signing with Baltimore. No fines right now and if someone comes up with a better offer he can still listen if he wants too. Don't see any reason for him to sign with the Giants for less money. He has to leave Baltimore and learn a new offense for less money, does not add up.
Leach cannot learn the playbook

in 6 weeks well enough to start. He would have to come as a backup to Pascoe, which he would never do. End of story.
