This company has done an outstanding job for us over the years, and once again, they did not raise their prices. We have paid the same for the trophy over the past four seasons. If you know of anyone or you yourself are in the market for some type of corporate award or memento for loved one, retirement ceremony, etc...I urge you to keep them in mind and tell them BBI sent you.
I never had the chance to meet her myself, but from all accounts she was an awesome lady. She passed a few years ago, but did get to see the Giants win SB XLII in person.
I'll leave it to those that knew her better to pass on stories.
I think of her many times and remember her having a great time at the Wild Horse Pass Casino and Hotel in Chandler AZ after the SB XLII win. What a great party experience for Dean, TT, Denise and myself with the Giants after the win.
If Bruce wasn't such a cheapskate, he would have been there too. How you doing, buddy?
I've been in the hospital for awhile where I am. Had a bout with pneumonia and now blood counts been low. Had a few hgb infusions because my hgb has dropped below 7. Still hanging in there and fighting as best I can. Hope to be well enough in few weeks, to try (fingers crossed) to make it for the presentation.
If not, always update here and sure to be pics etc.
Hope everything is good with you and all. Thanks again for the concern ..appreciate it.
Any Giants player should be proud to receive that trophy and display it in a place of honor in their home. A well-deserved tribute to Ahmad Bradshaw (wish he was still with is, but I also wish him great success with the Colts).
As someone who is much more of a BBI reader than active participant, I understand who HopeJ was and what she meant to everyone. I remember pouring through the thread when she passed, in tears over a woman I never knew, nor had any interaction with, other than reading conversations she participated in.
I believe this trophy is a wonderful way for the BBI Community to interact with the Team, as well as keep Hope's memory alive. With that said, as time passes and new members join the site, I believe it is in the best interest of the BBI to consider adding a page about the 'BBI Giant of the Year'. Under the header "Giants Info & History" there should be a link to the "Hope D. Johnson BBI Giant of the Year" page.
This page could detail the history of the award, who it was given to each year and why they earned it, as well as some biographical information about Hope and a photo, what she meant to the BBI Community, and what the Giants meant to her. Along the same lines, as new players come and go to the Giants, they'll probably want to know a little more about the person our trophy is named after, especially as I imagine it is the centerpiece on their mantle at home (Eli, move those SBMVPs to the side!)
Anyway, just my two cents. You saw above how some people don't know who Hope is, and this could be a way to remedy that.
Thank you, the thread helped to tell me a little about her. That she went to that Super Bowl tells alot too. When I was a kid I did not like that they put Lombardi's name on a trophy. I'm not sure why it bothered me but it did. Anyway I got used to the idea and Lombardi was a good choice. Never knew Hope but I kind of like the idea that a real lady has her name on the BBI trophy. The ladies may not be as loud as us guys but they seem to share our passion for the Giants.
Did you know Hope? I was thinking of starting a thread to post rememberances of BBI members like Hope who have passed. I don't know them though so I don't feel right about starting the thread.
Concerning HopeJ, my sentiments exactly. I, too, never had the pleasure of meeting her, but cried my eyes when she passed. (In fact, I'm getting misty-eyed right now.)
Awesome idea about adding a link on the from page to the background of the trophy, and for whom it is named. I'm sure other new posters had the same thought as wgeneis. What say you Eric, Gary and the other mods? Is this something we can move forward with?
wuphat...that brought back a lot of posters i haven't seen in a while
I didn't know her, and I'd feel uncomfortable starting such a thread unless I did.
I did suggest way back when that it would be cool to have a part of the site with memories of beloved BBI'ers like Hope or Bob, but nothing really came of it.
..I was there too and although I think of it often, reading your post just now really brought back that feeling of elation and unbridled joy I felt that day..
And God Bless HopeJ although I wish I had the pleasure of meeting her..

I know, man.. I know.
And God Bless HopeJ although I wish I had the pleasure of meeting her..
Every time this year whether I'm on BBI or not I raise a glass to Hope and play "In the Stone" by EWF.
