@MikeGarafolo: Candid--& gt; RT @art_stapleton: Will Hill says his substance abuse suspension was for marijuana. He spent nearly a month at rehab clinic
@Patricia_Traina: Hill said he faced social pressures one he became a football player. Said it was hard dealing with people who treated him like an ATM.
I wonder if/when they'll ever take marijuana off the banned substance list. It's not as if it's performance enhancing in any way. NBA doesn't test their players for mary in the offseason. Just seems inevitable.
This has nothing to do with Will Hill, he knew it was a banned substance and has to pay the piper. Just was going off topic for a bit.
I'm glad that he took the initiative and went into rehab
The rehab probably had more to do with him being able to keep away from certain types of people and gaining confidence in doing so then for the actual marijuana.
The Giants are not going to give him another chance he needs to rid himself of all the negative people who are bringing him down and only with him because to them he is viewed as an "ATM." He is so damn talented if he can just stay out of trouble and focused he could be a special player in the league.
It's pretty dumb that we have to make a big deal off him doing something that will most likely be phased out in the next CBA. I know most of the posters are more upset that he's gone for 4 games rather than smoking pot, but it's dumb that he has to get suspended for this.
NBA's policy on drugs is stiffer than the NFL on the issue. NBA hands out lifetime bans on substance abuse. There would be no multiple failing issues as Hill stated.
I still don't get that. From that standpoint, yeah weed suspensions are silly and now legalize in some states. I think that was the NBA's point. But to me the bigger issue was Hill had multiple failings. Meaning they warned him and he still continued to fail the test.
I think the NBA and MLB are the only majors that give out lifetime ban
I'm not sure that I support weed testing, but that conversation is irrelvant as far as our Will Hill is concerned. He isn't playing under some future set of hypothetical rules, he's playing under the rules as they exist today. And he owes it to the team to set his priorities in a way that reflects that.
If the NFL decides to change it's weed policy tomorrow, I won't care how much he smokes up. But today, it's costing the team.
Because it's all but certain that the NFL will follow the NBAs path once the new CBA rolls around. Still disappointed that Will Hill couldn't stop after failing the first time, but I'm also disappointed that a guy has to get suspended for smoking weed.
and avoid suspensions. If you're not in the NFLs drug program you only get tested once a year and I believe it's usually prior to the start of training camp each year.
Well that's how I see it. It is on the list for the NFL
but clearly they were forgiving but the way it comes off. It was an going on problem for only one season in his career. And that is really Ricky Williams territory.
There is a three month window starting in May and going through camp where players are open to a random recreational drug test.
I'd be fine if the league just dropped the pretense and didn't test for recreational drugs at all. I honestly don't care much one way or the other about it.
I have strong feelings about PED testing as I see that as a competitive issue. I think the league should be getting much tougher in that area.
...."Play for the new York Giants (given another chance) or smoke some weed"....Play for the New York Giants or smoke some weed"... "I'm smokin' weed man"...."Light that thing up baby, I'm cool with it"...."That's some good shit right there"....Uh ooohhh! Party's over. What a dumb ass.
That's my point. Smoking weed and playing for the NYG aren't even mutually exclusive. THC leaves your system in 30 days give or take. Probably faster for him than most people due to his low level of body fat. He can smoke himself silly in the off-season, and still play in the NFL. But this dipshit keeps failing tests during the season.
If a player were to smoke right before a game, it's because he performs better and relaxes him. It's not as if he'll have to address some kind of addiction and ruin himself. NBA players are doing just fine with the weed policy.
Not a great typo.
This has nothing to do with Will Hill, he knew it was a banned substance and has to pay the piper. Just was going off topic for a bit.
But that's not an excuse for failing multiple drug tests, even if it was just for weed
There's even a facebook page for this too, lol:

It's a hell of a better approach to player safety than these awful in game rules they keep coming up with
I won't go so far to say that I'm disappointed because I obviously don't have all the facts but he knew he was on a short leash and he eff'd it up.
If this kid doesn't make it in the NFL, it won't be for lack of talent or because of the weed, it'll be because he just isn't very smart.
(2) Giants told him he was in no danger of the team cutting him because of it
