Very excited to see Lamar Miller break out this season for Miami.

Who do you think you are?

Can someone explain to me how the NFL imagines that it is fair to allow the Cowboys and Miami to get an extra pre-season practice game?

They are looking to cut the preseason down to 2 or 3 games.....I wouldn't want the Giants playing 5. Let them have the extra preseason game!

It just seems with all the restriction on prcatice times and what you can do in practice like that any form of practice is such a premium. And if so, this seems very unfair to me.

The advantage for Dallas is they have more time to work in their 2 TE sets and 4-3 Defense. And more some young guys to get some more reps.

It is an extra game and it usually means extra bumps and bruises. One bad injury and it clearly isn't worth it.

injured. For a team like the Giants that aren't making a ton of changes the reward is smaller than the risk. For a team like Dallas which is making a lot of changes it isn't the worst thing in the world to get one more game

I like the subtle changes the Dolphins made with their uniform.

Of course the other side of that is they may be more ready to play week one against the Giants.

It helps because I swear, in my 50 years of following football it always seems like the deck is in some way or another stacked to give the Cowboys an advantage. Maybe it's from being a lifetime Giants fan. LOL! But I also hate that the Cowboys get a bye week before they play the Giants the 2nd time this year.

Miller's not really a sleeper considering his level of talent, but I do think he'll be a breakout player this season. There had been nothing but glowingly positive buzz about him coming from Dolphins beat writers over the past several months, including Omar Kelly saying that they felt Miller was a younger, faster, better version of Bush, which is why they let him walk without even trying to bring him back.

The fumble on the opening carry obviously wasn't a good look, but it won't matter at all in the grand scheme of things.

But he is a guy you could get in a later round that will have solid production.

I cleared my throat 3-4 times during that.

I actually liked him more than both Wilson and Martin.

That's fair. I stashed him on my bench in my auction keeper league last year despite having a shallow bench just so that I could keep him this season. I've been a big believer in Miller ever since he was a freshman at Miami, so I'm expecting big things.

Wallace ended up signing for more money than most people expected him to get on the open market, but the Dolphins were desperate for a difference maker on the outside who can threaten a defense vertically. Hartline is much more suited for the No. 2 receiver role, so they should be fine as the starters. They'll still need some complimentary weapons to step up in multiple receiver sets, but the addition of Wallace should provide immediate dividends.

I felt there were four first-round talents at RB in that draft, including all three players you mentioned. Miller plummeted because of his shoulder injury, but he hasn't experienced any reported setbacks after receiving very little playing time a year ago.

But their receiving corp was laughably bad. He should be able to take the top off the defense and open things up for Hartline. I forgot that Bess left though.

Yes it was. I'm curious to see how Keller will fit into their offense as well, but they'll definitely need to find a No. 3 receiver to replace Bess' production.

Yeah, I remember you and I both liked Miller a lot last year going into the draft. I am in agreement with you on him going into this season as well. I think he's a legitimate breakout candidate with Bush having moved on and Thomas not really having impressed a ton in either of his first 2 seasons.

His time was limited last time but Miller did average just a shade under 5 ypc. I think the growth of Tannehill and the addition of Wallace to stretch the field should really help open up the run a little more.

Second-round TE Gavin Escobar reportedly hasn't made any standout plays in training camp and is struggling with his blocking.
ESPN Dallas lists him in the "stock down" category after two weeks of camp. Escobar couldn't block a lick at San Diego State, so reading that he's struggling there comes as no surprise. But he has strong hands and was a dynamic slot receiver in college. With James Hanna nursing a hamstring injury for the past week, Escobar had a chance to emerge as the No. 2 tight end. He's done nothing to help his stock. Escobar may turn out to be this year's Michael Egnew.

From a fantasy perspective, I think the biggest concern I have with Miller is that I don't expect him to get goal-line carries. But they did keep him in for the first third-down opportunity they had tonight, which supports the notion that's been coming out of Miami about how he could be a three-down back as soon as this season. Philbin recently praised the progress he's made in pass protection since he became a Dolphin, and I think he'll surprise some people with his ability as a pass receiver.

Miller easily has the most talent of the group. I really like Gillislee though. He is just a great all around back. He may not do anything great but he does everything well.

Nope, Miller's knees are fine. He underwent shoulder surgery roughly four months prior to the 2012 draft, which raised medical red flags and caused him to plummet. He played through the injury throughout his sophomore season.

LB I wanted the Giants to draft in the middle rounds. Such good athleticism in coverage for a guy that size. He is gonna be a good one for Dallas.

but why isn't there a scrimmage to take it's place? I know teams didn't want to come to Albany (or at least that was the explanation), but other than the Jets (who I wouldn't go near after the last time), you'd think there'd be teams that would go to the Quest (as long as we had a return the next year to their place for scrimmage.)

I'd rather the pre-season be 2 scrimmages and 2 games,anyway. Less chance of injuries, and they would get more work in. It's not like the first 2 games are watchable, anyway.

the Dallas defense is flying to the ball. I still don't think this style fits their players but they look good so far. Lets see how good they are stopping the run which is one of the negatives about the Tampa 2. On top of that, I still like our weapons against them. We will see though.

For Dallas I think the key is the health of Lee and Carter. Both are extremely athletic and I think fit well with the system. Seeing the hustle by the Dallas D and flying to the football is concerning. But I do think Dallas's DL is too weak.

the giants offense has a huge day September 5th. Ive never been more confident. its the defense im concerned about, and this new base offense with 3 TEs that dallas is going with. sounds kinda intriguing

Cowboys are the definition of team that has been coasting off of past success from a long long time ago. As far as talent goes,I would rank the Giants forth in the division. Giants don't have any proven rbs and an aging oline.To go along with inept corners and linebackers.All 3 teams Dallas/Philly/Skins have established player in one of those 3 positions. All the Giants have is a qb and wrs,nothing else.
