maybe it was less than 50/50 but I thought his chances of making the first 53 were pretty decent, especially since he was getting reps in Hynoski's place.
the cap for the year. His salary should split. Instead of counting $405,000 against the cap he'll only count $288,000 against it in 2013. This would save the Giants $117,000 against the cap in 2013.
The Giants will have to make another move or two to get under the regular season salary cap threshhold at the rate they're going with moves like this and the Injury Settlements for Antonio Dennard (done), and those of Kris Adams and Jeremy Horne (both are upcoming).
I was rethinking him as a final addition to my 530man roster projection. I think that I was eventually going to add him to it too in place of Barden at WR. Donnell sounds and looks like he can play TE in the league.
It led me to start to believe that he was going to make the team. I didn't completely buy in, but I was in the process of doing so until word of this afternoon's injury came down. Let's see what the severity of it is. Depending on that we'll then figure out what the next course of action is going to be (IR or Injury Settlement). IR may be the best route for both parties involved if it is in fact an ACL tear.
He was the 4th TE on a team that keeps 3. Where was he going to get snaps during the season. What more important player are you getting rid of if he stays. The coaches trust Pascoe
Up till this point...I was sure that Pascoe would have been amongst the final cuts...the guy is a 28-29 year old glorified blocker that knows the offense well...so the question is why keep a guy like that over a young kid with potential...if Donnell is hurt seriously....Pascoe gets a reprieve for a year....

Credit Dawg for digging this up, but hopefully it's true:
As others have pointed out, it does sound like they would like to keep him. As season ender makes it a no brainer to place him on IR and retain him as an up and coming player for next season. Remember, Myers is only on a one year deal. But if IR is not an option (and I suspect it is even if no actual ACL), they could end up having to cut him. The reason is, keeping 4 TEs is a lot. Donnell may be having a strong camp, but he is young and still needs work. If he is out for the rest of the preseason even if he can return at some point in the season, he won't get the work he needs and is doubtful to contribute anything this year outside of specials behind all these other TEs.
My guess is, with or without ACL, if it is serious, which I assume it is even if only MCL or some other non-ACL, he still goes to IR and we look forward to his return next spring.
I think they keep 5 WRs to make room for the 3rd QB. But I think they look for a way to keep one an extra DLine.
Donnell injury did not look good. Acl territory.
Larry Donnell goes up for a pass from Painter in scout team and comes down HARD, grabbing left knee. Doesn't look good.
Sucks

Giants have stayed remarkably healthy this preseason. (so far)
He's a BIG dude.

In the first preseason game he looked more athletic than Robinson.
He really looks like an intriguing prospect though. Incredible size.
This sucks. He was one of the best things about the first preseason game. I was really looking forward to seeing more.
With our other 3 TE's there really wasn't a spot for him
I'm confident they had something planned for him, and wouldn't have been surprised to see him make the roster.
Helps his case that he can play FB.. but he's just totally unimpressive for the most part.

Caught up with Donnell's agent, @WesBridgesEsq. Sounds like there's no ACL tear, which is good news for the #Giants.
