and that has been a consistent ongoing issue that needs to be fixed.. and I am confident of this thing.. the defense will be mediocre as Fewell is the DC..
(including me) is there simply because we cannot lineup and just smash them in the mouth. Notice also on those short yardage situations we run away from the interior of the line? We have been doing that for a while. No confidence that our line can beat the men directly in front of them. Instead, it is easier for us to create a mismatch on the outside.
The preseason nature of this game seemed more obvious to me than normal even with the starters. You had some guys in there at WR that won't be part of the action when bullets start flying. Perhaps that had something to do with the rather vanilla playcalling.
Looked pretty bad in a lot of areas. And I hate to say it but for a 2 time superbowl MVP Eli can sure look really bad at times. Most likely has Deihlitis though because when Locklear was playing last year Eli was much better.
The RZ play calling/design is almost as bizarrely frustrating to me
Execution doesn't get a pass, but what they continue to try to do is never going to yield a great RZ offense, no matter what the personnel is. The best they're going to get is all right and that's only if the run game steps up big (even if it's weak in between the 20s).
I'm not so sure he even deserves a spot on the 53 man roster at this point. He is going to get Eli demolished soon. We need Pugh to grab the starting RT spot. Brewer provides versatility and depth, and it looks like he's had a good camp. Cut Diehl, and see what veteran LB's are available on cut down day.
No mention of Ojomo yet. He continue to dominate when he was
We play very undisciplined football. We lose contain, and have a lot of stupid penalties.
We have problems on the OL. DD is beyond awful, and should be cut. Pugh should start ahead of him right now. I'd pick up a veteran for a third tackle. Baas was never that good, and is chronically hurt. Cordle, Brewer, and Mosley are the best remaining. The rest are awful.
Eli and Myers had some miscommunications. Robinson looks like he is too heavy.
Nicks looks like he is still hurting. Hope Cruz is OK. Randle looks very good.
Some good play from the DL. Austin had some pressure, but I still think it's going to be hard for him to make the team.
Nothing really from the LBs. Connor is much better than Herzlich, who I'm afraid should be cut. The rest are just bodies frankly. Reese was limited this offseason, so this is what we get.
Ross and Hosley don't seem to be able to play the ball.
part of a scrambling play that Eli and KG prefer over the boring pocket passing. Eli looks like he had that play down pat almost. The DEs get a false sense of a sack and over pursue while Eli evades them for the throw.
there's good talent there and it's going to be difficult to get it to 4 or 5. I just wish we had a bit more at LB, I like Williams and I think if Rivers and Curry stay healthy have something, but that still looks an MLB short. Our system requires the MLB to be able to drop quickly in coverage and we don't have that at all.
They've won two Super Bowls with David Diehl -- a lot of football games along the way with the lunchpail warrior.
In all seriousness, we can come to a consensus all we want, but DD is going to be the starting RT this season. There's legit no reason to think otherwise, no matter what Pugh does or Brewer does. Eli is just going to have buck up and somehow play like 2011, when he turned shit into gold.
all of the offensive woes on David Diehl. He's a problem, but he's not THE problem. Obviously he, along with the rest of the offense, played well enough to get the team set up in the Redzone a couple times.
The fact that the Giants can't punch the ball in is indication of much more serious issues with the offense that have been carried over from last season and need to be addressed. For some reason people have a hard time accepting this.
I may be confusing Pugh with someone else. Incidentally, I thought the starting OL blocked pretty well for the run game. ANd our d-line was very stout!!!
missed his block on that 4th down play in the green zone on our first possession. It was as if he was running his own play. Did not even look at the guy he was supposed to block.
Should have been cut in the offseason. If he starts the only possible upside is that it could lead to Clowney being on the Giants next year after Eli is mauled by Ware/Orakpo/Cole.
I want Pugh to start next week. Diehl can't move his feet quickly enough and he doesn't push his man back in run blocking.
I think DD begins the season as the starting RT, but as time goes on
Pugh will gain enough experience in practice to overtake him. The bye occurs in week 9; I think Pugh is named the starter during that time, and starts his first game at home against a bad Raiders team in week 10. Just my guess.
was Pugh's first time out. He played decently. DD was just being beaten by like a drum. I agree with whoever said that we really aren't getting any push up the middle. We have an aging, injured, inexperienced OL. Eli's pocket presence might not be enough to overcome that problem.
Liked what I saw from Cox.
Barden made a few catches, but does anyone really take him seriously as a WR at this point?
Bottom line: OL and LB are the biggest problems on this team.

GIANTS FOOTBALL IS BACK BABY!
2nd half was a shit show (for both teams)
Good stuff.
Best player on the field tonight -- head and shoulders above everyone else -- Andrew Luck.
Good news for the Giants: stout against the run... and improvement in run game this week.
Aaron Ross
Williams
Hosley--good and bad
Hankins and Austin were not as stout as the last game, but were not terrible either
Nassib continues to demonstrate that Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin smoked crack together at least once in their lives.
That was just awful.
Or perhaps that just who we are. Tough to say.
tough guy with just enough shiftiness
Entire starting d-line looked very stout and also good pressure up the middle.
Regrettably we just couldn't get our hands on Andrew Luck who showed great athleticism back there. He's a stud.

He should really hang 'em up.
His name is on the back of his jersey and the coaches and all his team mates can see him on film.
Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust awful.

RB position - Wilson, Brown, and Cox all looked terrific. They still need to improve pass protection, but the position is stacked right now.
2 Justins - I thought Tuck and Pugh (while I saw him) played wonderfully.
Negatives:
The list is so GOTDAMN long that I must remind myself it was only a preseason game.
Real bad.
