It's not like he cut him to save Coughlin from himself.
He couldn't pass a physical and be allowed onto a field. When the Dolphins showed interest in picking him up later, he wasn't able to pass for them either (though I know O'Hara likes to tell a slightly different story, about how he never got another chance and teams just assumed he couldn't play anymore).
he was cooked. I'm certainly no expert, but I'm not sure what positives the coaches thinks DD brings to the table at this point. He's more like a guy taking away dishes, knives, and forks. Now our offense can't eat.
If he didn't get time at RT, maybe it means the RT competition is between Diehl and Brewer. If not, I'd like them to have Pugh focus on one spot rather than bouncing around.
Coughlin clearly stated he wanted both Webster and DD back Â
“I think there’s no doubt they can definitely help the team. I do want them back. They can still contribute."
Quote:
“I always look at it the other way,’’ Coughlin said. “First of all I don’t ever want to lose any player, it’s not in my nature, I want ‘em all, but as Ahmad [Bradshaw] said, it’s a business. Change is inevitable so you approach it in such a way and try to be an optimist. Try to think about how we can help our football team through free agency, through the draft to recapture some of what has been lost, in a healthy way.’’
is still a problem Beatty made some outstanding blocks
I can't believe they can't replace DD the guy is Toast .
Cox might also be the best gunner on the team as well as a lock for the 3rd RB he see's the field he glides like
and always seems to lean forward he looks like a steal .
If Hill gets his head on straight he could probably start
on plenty of teams .
Agree wirh MS that one play with Rivers was just awful
I didn't key in on him but that one play stood out .
There will be some tough cuts at DT and WR .
Ojomo again just makes plays all over the place disruptive
great motor . I know you don't see many trades but we have a
glut of DT and lousy linebackers . I think Brown should start and soften them up for Wilson thats if we can get someone better than DD to open some holes the run blocking
was garbage .
fellow Cuse alum. I understand your passion and its certainly not fair go judge Nassib on these preseason games but a stretch of a pick. He wont play a down this year unless both Eli and either Carr or Painter(whoever the back up is) go down. Should have been made on a developmental LB ,OL, or even DB. Worse they are going to have to cut a player who may have helped now or down the line for am guy who very likely wont be on the Giants past his first contract.
I've seen in years...great seats...great company....great night to watch football...
sucky football with an annoying Colts fan running his mouth all game.
As said on this thread, Diehl was pretty bad in pass pro. Hated the red zone call on 1st-and-goal from the 5 out of the shotgun. I said to Boldruler...here we go with the draw play. Two yard loss. Sigh.
Coughlin or prevent the coaching staff from doing anything. He cut him because O'Hara physically couldn't get onto a football field, for the Giants or any team during that time frame.
There was no other choice, really. Little to nothing blind loyalty or whatever it is that keeps Diehl locked into a starting position could do about it.
through waivers onto the practice squad? I know it's just preseason and the line in front of him is atrocious, but he really doesn't have any standout physical attributes. I know it's either no chance or 1% at best, but do they even talk about it?
He stinks. I'm not even going to give you the boilerplate, "great story" line. I've seen him enough. For whatever reason, cancer, the rod in his leg - he can't play. Stop it already.
Give Ojomo something other than fourth quarter play. Boy, our head coach can be a stubborn SOB.
Cut DD. What's worse than stinks? The guy can't play anymore. How can they not see that.
Cox looks good. We found another Bradshaw.
We need to find a center who doesn't break down every other game. This guy is just to beat up right now to play quality minutes, and I know, we don't really have a backup center. This might be our biggest problem moving forward.
Play Brewer and Pugh. They need reps. It's the only way they can get better, and we need them to.
I liked what I saw. It is beyond unfair to judge him as a rookie in his 2nd pre-season game. Wish he could make it through to practice squad. Who knows?
...guided missiles out there... He deftly avoided the blitz buying time for himself or running for significant yardage. He surely outplayed Eli... Then again, Luck didn't have Dunkin Donuts at RT.
If the Giants wasted two draft picks to put Nassib on the Practice Â
during his second preseason game ever either. Threw the same kind of ball into the ground that Nassib did tonight. The game needs to slow down for him. He needs to play with some people that can play the game. He'll be fine.
Who the fuck ever said that? Did Carr suddenly evaporate into the brain fart-riddled air that was just created by the neurons that just fired out of your melon?
I think one of my favorite things about this site is that the stupid attacks nearly every topic with literally no prejudice. On any side of an argument, you can bet your ass neurons are firing in any and every direction one can possibly imagine.
Who the Giant backup QB is going to be. We won't win a single game if either Carr,Painter, or Nassib have to play. IMO,that being the case, I would only keep Nassib. You can pick up a veteran qb certainly as good as Carr or Painter off the street. I wouldn't waste a roster spot on a a qb as inept as Carr or Painter.
Kickerpa16 - Homerjones is never going to give up on this Nassib Â
to find a way to get Nassib in there before he's with guys where the only "offense" he can run is hand-offs or getting sacked. It would be great if they could find a way to get him in with the 2's, but if Eli plays into the 3rd next week, and then Painter gets the kind of time Carr did today, Nassib may not play at all against the Jets, which would really be a shame.

This place never ceases to amaze, it'd be so awesome if it weren't so frightening.
Penalties: Colts 3 for 61 yards, Giants 10 for 96 yards
Sacks: 1 for 6 yards given up by Colts; 6 for 44 yards given up by Giants.
10 penalties and 6 sacks allowed is not going to please TC.

Can't really evaluate Nassib. He's playing behind an OL that would shame a high school team.
If he didn't get time at RT, maybe it means the RT competition is between Diehl and Brewer. If not, I'd like them to have Pugh focus on one spot rather than bouncing around.

Only exciting thing in the second half was Cox.
There was no other choice, really. Little to nothing blind loyalty or whatever it is that keeps Diehl locked into a starting position could do about it.
I trust in Reese and TC, not the mouthbreathing, keyboard cocks and troglodytes that sometimes patrol BBI and make ridiculous statements.
(And a quick disclaimer...I wasn't a big Nassib fan while he played for my beloved Orangemen. So it's not blind love here folks)

Which means, now it's beyond obvious.
I really hope Nassib miraculously develops because I can't stand watching Carr's brutal QBing. I imagine Painter's similarly bad.
Aaron Curry looks like he has no speed left at all.
I like Tracy and Trattou, going to be tough between them.
Andre brown looks great, if we can get 16 games out of this kid, he's 10TDs plus.
The first team interior run D was much better tonight.
JT looked good.
Myers is struggling to adapt to this offense.
Weatherford is in mid season form.
Hosley has yet to find the consistency required at CB.
Ross is playing well. The INT/TD was a fluke.
Jacquain Williams play has been on a nice uptick.
Ojomo is a natural pass rushing beast. It's time to get him some meaningful reps and see if he can do it against top comp.
Just not in the next two weeks.
We can at least put the "Nassib as the backup" delusion to bed. We are either keeping 3 qb's or putting him on the practice squad.
BBI.
But that's your Syracuse loyalty showing through?!?
