if Eli were to go down right now, Car is the ONLY guy who has a snowballs chance in hell of winning a game for us. That is not an endorsement that Carr is a good QB. Instead, it shows you how piss poor our backup QBs are AT THE MOMENT (pending further development).
it seems like 95% of the time the offense wins on any play we blitz.
Also that mathias quote...wow...confusion is rampant. The only thing that will stop this D from being good is a coordinator that has them totally confused.
Once again we have no choice but to hope THEY finally somehow get on the same page.....I hope we don't throw this year away b/c our system still isn't 'player-friendly'
There is no game plan for pre season. I for one hate the way Tom substitutes players. Why not give Pugh some first team reps? Why wait until the 4th to play Cox? Could Nassib be that much worse then Painter or Carr? We will never find out because he gets stuck with the bottom of the barrel for WR's and O line.Tom has his own method but I cant wait for pre season to be over.
was just one of those nights when even the right play turns out wrong:the Ross play, obviously; the foot barely in on the TD, the bench penalty after a good gain; the D getting in the backfield often on the blitz but poor containment.
That said, some things are now obvious:
-DD needs to go(I think JohnM and JR will talk to TC today about that 'play the kids earlier' conversation they had).
-Pascoe is NOT a lead FB: he missed hitting his man at least 2x that I noticed.
-Even a blind Giants fan knew that draw play in the green zone was coming, and yes, where were the deeps to Murphy(or anybody other than VC)? We fail there because we are predictable there.
I do have a question: are cuts mandatory after p-s game 2 now, or is it still all after 3(to70), then 4(to 53)?
He does not look good and by virture of his rookie status we all assume he is years away....but given the recent developments in Seattle, DC, Indy (yes I know he is not in their caliber) this guy is the all time leader in passing for Syracuse...some thought he was 1st round material, is it at all possible that he comes along quick with this pre-season experience and becomes the number 2? David Carr seems to have regressed, and I really wonder if he could be a much better option for a few games than Nassib
judging the guy when he is playing with most guys who won't even be on the roster?
And secondly, if anything else, it should be clear, we are hosed with anyone not Eli. Put me in the camp of Eli and Nassib. Is Nassib ready to be backup, absolutely not. But if Eli goes down, games are a write off. Save the roster spot and if the awful happens and Eli goes down, give the kid reps.
and appeared to shy away from contact. I really think he's protecting himself right now and that there is nothing else wrong with him, as some have mentioned. He'll be fine once the real bullets start flying IMO.
If Eli gets blocking, and that's a big if, this passing game can be really good. We need the right side solidified. Snee and Diehl need to step up or our passing game will struggle. Eli was erractic last night, in part, because of teh pressure he was getting; mostly from the right side. Do we put a TE on that side to help more. I think Diehl will need a ton of help over there for us to be successful.
We're going to carry three QB's for the first time in years
Nassib won't clear waivers so forget the practice squad. he's also not ready to be the primary backup. God forbid Eli gets dinged and maybe misses a start or two. If you go with Nassib you're not giving your squad a chance to compete in those games.
Thank God those suggesting an Eli/Nassib only tandem aren't managing the team.
pretty much looked like Kurt Warner trying to run Coughlin's offense. Drop back look at the first read and if he's covered well freeze until sacked. Hopefully the OL doesn't get Eli killed and Nassib has the 2 to 3 years he'll need to learn the offense or the coaching staff changes and all the rookies don't need 2 or 3 years anymore.

Haven't seem much of Murphy this camp but it seems like teams do respect his speed.
