was a very popular name around here last year during the draft. I am a little surprised Buffalo got rid of him so quickly even with all the injury issues.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 30s
When I was at #Texans camp, was told they were impressed by FA RB Dennis Johnson. Just cut him, though. Fumbles did him in.
Cuts to 75: TE Jamie Childers, TE Chase Clement, WR Brandon Collins, LB Aaron Curry, FB Ben Guidugli, OL Austin Holtz, OL Michael Jasper, DB Junior Mertile, LB Jake Muasau, DT Frank Okam, LB Etienn Sabino, DB Laron Scott, WR Terrence Sinkfield, DB Alonzo Tweedy
I am completely not on board with Painter, and I have not been a big Carr fan either. I've at least seen Edwards have some good games, in a starting role, and carry his team a little.
close to the cut down time. Usually, the cuts made now, are injured players, or players who's careers are just about thru, and they are let go a little earlier as more of a courtesy to them to give them an opportunity to tryout for another team.
The players let go later tomorrow will indicate who those clubs are really hoping to hold onto somehow.
Stinks, that is why he was cut, on a team that needs TE's, so why would we sign him, he never was a very good blocker at all either. I would rather keep Donnell anyday of the week.
better in certain environments. Ballard played well in the Giants system, making several clutch catches. If the Giants think the knee is ok, I'd take him over Pascoe, assuming Hynoski is ready.
He gave up three sacks against the Skins yesterday, and was benched in favor of Mike Harris, a second-year UDFA OT...and that was after losing a starting LT spot to King Dunlap.
Full Disclosure: I mentioned Starks a few times before the draft as a player I thought the Giants might sign. Just another reason to be glad that I'm not the Giants' GM.
Marcus Trufant was cut by the Jaguars earlier today.
The handwriting has been on the wall for Michael Robinson and his $2.5MM salary. The surprise is that the front-runner for the job might be Derrick Coleman (the deaf underdog 'tweener from UCLA, not the former Net). Robinson could return at a lower salary once he gets over an illness.
We are saying to bring him in and see if he can play.
I'm still trying to figure out how we came out ahead with Bennett by coaching him up into an all-around TE, showing the rest of the league that he could catch the ball in clutch situations, and then having no way of stopping him from leaving for another team.
We got a solid year's worth of performance at a reasonable price. He got a chance to showcase his skills a little better and position himself for a payday.
Just because we didn't keep him, doesn't mean the deal didn't pan out.
just remember that these guys are just that at this point in their careers---names. The transactions to watch out for are the guys with less than 4 years of experience for the most part.
lots of careers are ending today from these lists.
Let's also hope that a trade can be made at a position where we have numbers (DTs) in order to get a player at a position of need (i.e., RB) from a team that has depth at that position. Reese has averaged a trade a year since being here.
I think Pascoe's replacement is on the roster now in Donnell. I just don't think that Donnell replaces him until next year, assuming Donnell is with the team in some capacity this year either on the 530man roster or the Practice Squad.
Problem with a thread like this, is that info is disjointed.
If it had a "up to date list" of who was cut, we could better absorb the info, at least I could..Some here did that with the UDFA lists by updating all the signed players in one column..That was tremendously helpful

They released a pretty decent Punter in Mesko, but the guy I really like is 2013 UDFA George Winn, a RB out of Cincinnati. I'd bring him in instead of Torain. His contract won't count against the cap if they cut him after week 1, as opposed to Torain's, so he could give the team added Cap and Roster flexibility.
Both, IMO. He had only one good year at Baylor, dominated Senior Bowl week, but that was it. He was overaged and he didn't seem to be passionate about the game.
Look at that scrub DE they traded up for ahead of the Giants to draft in 2010 (Brandon Graham). The Giants stayed pat at 15 and took their guy JPP.
The Eagles and especially the Pats always got kudos from the national media for trading up and down the draft and accumulating picks. They were good at accumulating picks alright, but they didn't do what the draft was essentially about: pick good players. Look at the amount of disappointing picks and busts those two organizations have made in recent years (particularly Philly).
Either it's utterly bizarre that the Bills had 2 Brad Smiths, both played QB & both ended up Reserve/Injured or else the 1 Brad Smith must have been severely injured to get Reserve/Injured twice. :)
Because of his attitude and lack of commitment. That won't impress Coughlin. An interesting cut is Tennessee dropping Velasco. While nothing special he did grade out as middle of the pack among starting C when given a shot
He never has a top pick. He's always at the bottom and he moves down to gather picks.
You can't cherry pick some misses and claim his drafting is poor. He plays the odds. And the odds say a good portion of 2nd-4th rounders won't make it so he gathers more of them.
Bottom line is he finds plenty of young talent and he uses it early. And it works. How does that add up to bad drafting?
The Patriots are gifted 5-6 wins per year with the current state of the AFC East and by constantly trading back in drafts he has left New England with questionable depth if and when their starters get hurt or retire. In particular he has sucked drafting DB's high
Staying in school would not have helped. He needed the money. He left. For a guy like Jamison its all about going to the right team.
He has good quicks and is strong. He can make it in the NFL right now. I think he'll get another shot. A good comp for Jamison is Chris Polk in PHI. Plenty of people said he was too small and slow. But he know how to run. So does Jamison.
Seriously who do you think would help the Giants more this year. Dwyer from Pitt or Jamison?
Kid was talked into coming out early with the hopes of helping his family out financially. Really sad because he's solid but not sure he's any better than Cox at this point.
Tauren Poole,RB - Liked him coming out of Tennessee
Chris Harper,WR - Think he got caught up in a log jam out in Seattle. Also had some drops
Ras I Dowling - Belichick gave up on him pretty quick.I liked him more than Prince the year he came out.Heard he had a good mini camp, than he got hurt again.
Da'Rick Rodgers - Saw him against the Colts not chase down someone on a fumble, ever since than he was in the dog house.
He had some good games for Pittsburgh, and he is a strong, physical back. He can get tough yards and would be a good complement to Wilson. Maybe he could help our RZ performance.
Hardy AND Talley(leaving JJ)?, Bosworth(like we have an abundance of LBs)? James AND Fredericks AND Sash?
Just surprised by some of the survivors.
Especially where we NEED depth.
WOW!
cut is Center Fernando Velasco from the Titans. He started every game for the Titans last year and was an RFA kept with a 2nd round tender.
Here is an article from March, when the Titans agreed to pay him.
He is only 28 and played his college ball at Georgia
Type of veteran player that will likely be signed following Week 1. Baas has had it easy as Giant-there has never been competition at Center since he was signed. Link - ( New Window )
Old Man - Trattou had a better preseason than Ojomo and Tracy.
The Giants have Kiwi who can play LB so they went with 5. Talley it looks like they will try and bring back for the practice squad if he is not claimed.
Roster cuts for all 32 NFL teams | NFL.com - ( New Window )
DE Kourtnei Brown, CB Crezdon Butler, QB Matt Leinart, OT Zebrie Sanders
Baltimore Ravens
RB Anthony Allen, CB Marc Anthony, LB Nigel Carr, TE Alex Silvestro
QB Trent Edwards, QB Jordan Palmer, OT J'Marcus Webb
The #Patriots have cut TE Daniel Fells, source tells me. Signed a three-year, $5.25M contract last year.
Hardin is a hard luck guy who has suffered a bunch of injuries
When healthy he is very athletic
Jints have multiple roster concerns but when the smoke clears I hope they bring Hardin in for a look
When I was at #Texans camp, was told they were impressed by FA RB Dennis Johnson. Just cut him, though. Fumbles did him in.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel hints Packers fourth-round RB Johnathan Franklin's roster spot isn't assured.
Beat writer Tom Silverstein believes Franklin "had to show something" in Thursday's preseason finale to secure his spot.
Not that he would be able to step in for Brown but I'd want the Giants to take a look if Franklin is cut...
#Eagles release: Everette Brown, Antonio Dixon, Dennis Dixon, David King, G.J. Kinne, Matt Kopa
I'd rather keep Painter if I had to pick one. At least until he starts to look horrible. =)
Eagles also released LB Everette Brown, who hasn't looked bad of late and played well last night.
ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk 58s
Cowboys have released WR Anthony Armstrong, per league source.
ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk 40s
Pats have released defensive lineman Marcus Benard.
MC had another Kid Isiah Burse who is at Fresno state and I expect him to get a pro shot as a CB or a KR/WR.. big, athletic, and FAST
My son played against them both in HS, I doubt he laid a hand on either
The players let go later tomorrow will indicate who those clubs are really hoping to hold onto somehow.

At least Aaron Ross isn't alone any more.

Would Reese make another deal like that?
Just because we didn't keep him, doesn't mean the deal didn't pan out.

The Eagles 2011 draft set the franchise back. 1st and 2nd rounders gone after two seasons, and 3rd rdr no guarantee.
Bills releases: Cut veteran LB Bryan Scott after trying to trade him. Also release QB Thad Lewis
The #Ravens have cut WR Tandon Doss, Safety Omar Brown, RB Bobby Rainey, TE Billy Bajema & OL Antoine McClain.
McCourty is an excellent player. He picked a couple of CBs in rounds 2-4 that did not work. Dowling was hurt so he gets a pass on this one.
Every year there are young guys making plays on that team.
Antoine Winfield has informed the Seattle Seahawks that he is going to retire.
Saints announce that WR Courtney Roby and S Jim Leonhard have been cut, among others.
Staying in school would not have helped. He needed the money. He left. For a guy like Jamison its all about going to the right team.

Strong runner. Opposite of Scott
