I'm down on this team's prospects this year. They are way too weak at LB, safety and offensive line. Which is a shame becaus this might be the best collection of skill position players in Giants history and I think the D line is all set to rebound and have a huge year.

I never predicted the number, games I thought they would win they lost, games I thought they would lose they won. When I get high in them they go on losing streak. When I give up on them they the Super Bowl. So my prediction? Wednesday will follow Tuesday

Seems like this is the most "down" on the Giants people have been going into a new season in a while. I don't remember exactly what the feeling was going into 2010 but I think even going into that year after the disaster that was 2009, people were a little more optimistic than they are now.

I really think this preseason has dampered a lot of people's expectations.. rightfully or not.

for me, and my 6 - 10 prediction it has nothing to do with the pre-season. If they went 4 - 0 I'd still predict this.

It has to do with I think the Giants are worse than last year and other teams are better.

Fair enough.. I'm not saying anyone's right or wrong. No one can have any way of knowing exactly how things will unfold. I really would be surprised if we finished sub-.500 just because it has never happened in a season where Eli was under center all year.. but anything's possible.

You guys are underestimating one thing...When this team flies under the radar great things happen.

Gmen come out like world beaters and beat the Cowboys by 20+ and just roll from there, losing to the Eagles, Raiders (trap game) and Packers. Other than that they steamroll through the league- dline causes havoc, secondary comes together and eli shows everyone why he is the most underated 2x Super Bowl MVP of ALL TIME

Just a gut feeling.

Very low I would think. at some point it becomes a statistical improbability, regardless of how the teams match up. I think we are near that point.

10-6 after a 1-3 start, squeak into the playoffs.

10 wins. Somehow, they'll manage to lose both times against the Eagles. Don't ask.

(completely devoid of LB talent, safety is an injury-riddled mess, corners are questionable after Prince) has me feeling negatively about the season.

OTOH, the schedule is the easiest the Giants have had in years. Their 3 toughest non-divisional opponents (GB, DEN, SEA) are home games and their 2 toughest non-divisional road games are at Detroit and Chicago. All 4 of the 2012 non-divisonal playoff teams they play are at home. There's also finally a break in the seemingly annual 2nd half brutal road games stretch the Giants seemed to have.

I think the Giants go 9-7 and just like in previous years, whether that's good enough to make the playoffs or not is dependent on what other teams in the NFC East do.

There are just too many question marks. Unproven running game. Uncertainty in the OL. Question marks at DE - will JPP bounce back from his injury? Does Tuck have anything left? Is Kiwanuka just a guy? Awful, horrible, embarassing LBs. Thin secondary.

I think the offense will at least be pretty good but I have absolutely no faith in the defense. None.

If they win 10 or more, I'll be surprised and thrilled.

With last year's schedule, I'd say this is an 8-8 team, but the fairly soft schedule should help push them over .500 if they have decent luck with injuries. All of the road games are very winnable.

There are a lot of questions in the division alone - Philly has a new coach and they could respond well to him (and if, big if, Vick is healthy, he could still have a decent season left in him) but they won't have a great season but will win some games and RGIII staying healthy is a question as well, although the Deadskins did OK without him in pre-season (yes, I know, pre-season doesn't mean all that much). And Romo is feeling "something special" these days, which just sounds weird. But who knows what that actually means.

I'm strangely confident about this team. Or just enjoying a little pre-season optimism.

This isn't a new thing.

Despite all of the defenses struggles last year, we were still within one game winning play a couple games we lost from winning the division and being in the playoffs.

I think the defense is going to be better this year than it was last year. Even if that means only being average.

None of the other 3 teams in the division are good enough to run away with it. We'll be right in it at the end and probably have a chance to lock it up on final day of the reg season at home against Washington.

Eli needs to have a better season. I think he will, but if not, I think we're looking at 8-8. We didn't improve all that much in the offseason, and our division only got stronger. Although, I have a feeling David Wilson is going to go off this year carrying us to a couple wins.

defensive strength, our DEs, and puts a great strain on our OLBs, who are average at best (and I think I'm being kind here).

5-3 on the road and 4-4 at home. Home wins against Packers and Seahawks but loses to Raiders and Redskins hurt playoff chances.

Come on!. Just look at the track record of this team under Coughlin. The Giants have gone 8-8 or better every year except one and that was Coughlin's first year and that was with a rookie QB taking over. Those years some of those teams had serious injury situations and still finished over 500. This team may be weak in a few areas but it also has some of the best talent the Giants have ever had at some positions.

We know we're in trouble

Revamped line with a little youth infused comes together and provides Eli with time and he becomes UNSTOPPABLE like his watch. David Wilson becomes a powderkeg ready to explode at any second every time he touches the ball.

Dan Connor plays a decent MLB and Rivers finally stays healthy and has a great year. The D line is a force and starts eating QB's for lunch again and the DB's finally know what the hell is going on from play to play and don't look like 3 blind mice out there.

Don't trust the defense, and I'm concerned with our overall ability to stay healthy at some key positions (CB/DE/OL).

Think the wheels finally come off Dallas, Philly underperforms with Kelly, and Washington ends up with a similar record, +/-1 depending on their health.

despite what i consider to actually be a difficult schedule. i'm not sure what people are looking at when they say "soft schedule". all 6 nfc east games will be tough, denver, seattle, green bay, minnesota, chicago, carolina, kansas city will all be tough too. however, i am very confident in this team.

I guess I'll split that and say specifically 9-7 after an 0-2 start (one close loss, one blow-out one).

I don't really understand the 6-10/even 7-9 stuff. It's a QB driven league. The Giants have Eli Manning. He may not be in the top tier with his brother, Rodgers, and Brady, no, but he should be seen as good enough to "lock" this team at least into 8 wins, if he's healthy, almost regardless of the defense, particularly with this schedule.

10 wins may win the division, but it may involve tie breakers....I don't think 9 wins makes the playoffs....

Have no confidence in this defense......the offense has to carry this team......question marks with Nicks, the Cruz heel, depth at RB, the possible lack of production from the TE position, the merry go round OL and lack of depth in the OL.....before the preseason, I had a lot more faith in the offense, and thought they were capable of 10 or more wins.....but the way the offense has performed, and the injuries that have arisen, have tempered my guess....

These are the NY Football Giants....it would not surprise me to see them miss the playoffs again.....but it also wouldn't surprise me, if Eli steps it up again, and makes those around him, step up their game, and this team makes the playoffs.... We faced this many times last year....which team was going to show up from week to week....this year will be no different....

...according to the front page, 1,526 BBIers have made a prediction of the Giants 2013 record. The weight average of their votes is (drum roll)...

9 wins.

9 wins... ho-hum.

and a quarter away from 11-5
9-7 in 2011 and could have gone 10-6 with a little luck in the Packers loss. But they also won a few close games that year.
9-7 last year and if they make 1-2-3 plays in 1-2-3 games against Dallas or Pitt or Philly, they win 10 games but again, they did win a game or two last year that could have gone the other way.

With that said, this team has been hovering around the 9-10-11 win mark for 3 straight seasons heading into this season. The QB is still in place along with the coaching staff. The OL has a new RT that should be an upgrade. The DTs appear to be better than they have been since 2010-2011 and the DEs are about the same, assuming JPP is doing his thing before too long.

The one area I think is clearly better than last year and even 2011? The passing game. I think the WRs are better. I think Myers at TE is at worst about equal to Ballard or Bennett or whoever was there in 2010. I think the DBs are better because Prince is a better cover guy than anyone we've had on this team in years.

I think this team is a little bit better than prior Giants teams, mainly at WR and perhaps with some luck, OL.

Ill say 11-5. This team is better than last year's team. They will win ONE of those close games that they couldn't win last year and won't have to contend with an absolutely brutal schedule--something they dealt with for 2 straight seasons by the way. People around here seem to forget that this team navigated the NFL's toughest schedule for 2 straight seasons.

I will never predict anything less than 9 wins. IT happened once, in 2009 when the worst DC in sports history was in place.

This team always contends and wins at least 9 games. I see no reason to expect the bottom to fall out. The schedule finally lets up and a lot of players are playing for their careers this season. I love where this team sits right now and I think the weaknesses on this team are overstated, especially at OL. The defense will be suspect but so is every NFL defense. If it plays a little better, just a little better this team will be trouble. They will definitely score points. They always do.

The head says this team should be better than last year. The offense should be equal and the defense should be better. One thing that scares me is that the Giants got turnovers last year....will they get them this year?

I'll go with 11-5 from the head. The Giants will have a positive turnover ratio. Assuming of course they stay relatively healthy.

The heart is not so confident and feels this could be a difficult year. Perhaps a really bad 6 wins or less type of year if the wheels come off.

are much better than last year. Prince was slow in getting on track last year and Ross was not here. Hosley was a rookie and Webster was shaky. Even if Web is shaky this year, Hosley and Prince will be better and Ross is in the fold.

This team got better in three key areas: WR, DT and CB.

I didn't see the changes I was hoping for, the injuries have already started on the D, the offense is going to be inconsistent and give he D little rest.

the person who started the thread has us loosing to Dallas twice, yet coming out 11-5. Don't think so. One of the wins is against Den, and we have NO NFL starting quality LB's, and a beat up secondary. Yeah that should go well. * TD's for Manning in week 2?

The Defense is that of a team competing for a top 5 pick and I just cannot see the OL holding up enough to allow Eli the chance of pulling off some heroics

The NFC East/AFC West is probably good for 5-6 wins right there assuming we do not play down to lesser teams
