Unlike mnay of you, my respect for Romno as a quarterback makes this one of the games I fear most on the schedule. In the past the Giants have been winning by out scoring them.
I am skeptical that at this point in time the Giants are ready to win another shoot-out down there. Consequently my key is better play by the defense, specifically the defensive tackles.
It is my opinion that pressure from the middle of the line is essential in keeping Romo from having another big day against the Giants defense.
control the lines of scrimmage
do those two things = W.
You give Romo time, Dez, Witten, and Austin will have a field day (another field day). I wonder if Witten breaks his 17 reception mark from last year or whatever it was.
Also, remind Romo that all of his receivers are .7 seconds faster than they really are so he can keep overthrowing them in key situations.
Can the secondary hold up in coverage against Bryant, Austin, and Witten?
My God, if Dez Bryant and Miles Austin start catching quick slants on us and Fewell continues to play the CBs off, it is going to be a loooooooooooooooong season
As others have mentioned they need to get TDs and not FGs when in the red zone.
But our O needs to be clicking on all cylinders.
Pass rush is key
Hopefully Eli shakes his preseason funk and gets himself going... He tends to play well in DAL, but his footwork hasn't been great thus far... Don't think there was any coincidence that he had his best season (2011) when his footwork was top notch... His ability to slide within the pocket to buy that extra half second and then deliver the ball accurately made a huge difference in his play that year... And I realize having Cordle and Diehl in there playing the role of the turnstile and the matador didnt help his play in the preseason...

Red zone chances have to yield TDs and not FGs. No more FG fest 2013!
DL needs to get some pressure to help take the strain off the secondary.
Offense needs to be put some nice drives together to keep Dal off the field and win the field position battle.
Pressure Romo - he then has to throw short. I do not care how many passes Witten catches (The Giants did win that game) as long as it keeps Bryant & Austin from gaining chunks of yardage. The long plays are what always worry me against Dallas
The Cowboys are implementing a 4-3 tampa 2. The the tampa 2 principles are a zone defense, keeping offensive players in front and rallying to the ball.
2 deep (safeties) deep halves
5 under (two corners rerouting receivers inside) and (three linebackers hook - middle)
rush 4 dline
NY Giants on offense:
Giants running the ball
DT-Ratliff and LE-Spencer are both out. So running the ball inside and to the right should yield some decent yardage. keep pounding the rock. Staying away from the left side and Ware should be a priority. I know NYG like to run to the strong side side. Maybe the Giants should run away from Myers.
Giants passing the ball
Avoiding the jam cannot be overstated. Cruz can do this with his quickness and Nicks can with power. If we can get their mlb Lee to bite on a play-action the deep post should be available to Myers or to Cruz in a twins formation. The Cowboys safeties don't impress me one bit. Eli is going to have all day to connect on the deep stuff.
