A head scratcher to start the season with NO proven RB on the roster. No matter how great they think Wilson will be, don't you have to plan for nights like this from a young player? When Brown went down, you had to keep Torrain imo.
I know some of you aren't ready to hear that or don't believe that, but I have a strong feeling about it.
Week 1 is almost never an indicator on how a season is going to go for a player or a team. If Coughlin sticks it out with Wilson I think the Giants will see immediate rewards for taking that chance.
. . . on that note, I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now.
not sure he didn't warn them off, but how do you know which way McBride turns? He didn't see the ball, so how does he know where to run to? Let it go as an unlucky break. That isn't Randle's fault.
To me was once again the lack of a pass rush. Dallas o-line will be one of the worst we will face and we rarely got any pressure. Moore is going to have to be really good at rushing the passer because we have no edge speed to get to the qb. JPP looks about 20 pounds overweight again. He has the bull rush, nothing else. We need more speed on the edges. Tuck rushes better from the interior and Kiwi?
For those who want Wilson to return kicks again, please notice that kick returns are very rare these days.
Does anyone really expect 6 turnovers every game?
And with that, we were still in the game until the last play.
We were always going to sign a veteran RB after the first game to take pressure off Wilson. (and that pressure got to him tonight.)
Coughlin was right to take him out tonight; he was a basket case after the second fumble. (Remember one of them was after he was "down" but lying on a defender and while being held that way had the ball ripped out by gang tacklers.)
He will be fine the rest of the way. Scott also got some needed experience. When Brown Comes back we will have a solid backfield for the Nov/Dec run.
JPP, Hynoski among others are just getting back into the game; Amukamara went out and most importantly the refs in the second half made atrocious calls (I don't usually believe refs purposely side with one side or the other, but after tonight I might be persuaded.)
We do need to add a middle linebacker to back up Connor.
Tonight does not discourage me. We were not going to have a perfect season and even during our Superbowl years we had a few stinkeroos.
...but I don't think this team is bad. I certainly don't think this is a lost season either. We clearly have holes but even with 6 terrible turnovers, on the road, we were in this game until the very end. To me, that says something.
Nicks, Cruz and Randle looked phenomenal tonight.
Furthermore, I personally thought Linval Joseph played very well, and I felt Tuck was more of a presence tonight than he was all of last year.
Lastly, I like Mundy and I like his toughness stopping Dez Bryant short of the stick on that 3rd and 4.
Anyway, frustrating night. RB and LB are issues that need to be addressed.
No rest for the weary - next week it gets even tougher.
If Wilson starts next week isn't that a slap in the face to other RB's
I am really not as pissed as I thought I would be....
I thought the defense played well.. I would have liked to have seen more pressure .... But Dallas didn't really have any huge plays on offense.....big plus compared to last year
Scott played pretty well considering. We suck at screens. Eli is just as much to blame as Scott.... Never any touch on the pass.....I wouldn't mind if I never saw another screen pass again....completely embarrassing time and time again
Team stayed with it and had heart. On top of 6 turnovers, 2 pick 6's a field goal and a touchdown right after the punt mishap...that's 24 points on a platter.... D really only gave up 10 legit points
5 games so far in goaline in the red zone and we get blown off the line....folks its time for something else..... I don't know what....spread it out try rolling the pocket..... We don't have a working power formation.
Bottom line is that this is very correctable.... I really think we could use Jacobs because of two things...his leadership and his experience.
And it wasn't a concern in college or anything. I'm sure it will all work itself out with him. He was just unaware that the Dallas defenders would hit him and try to tackle him. It's all good.
I saw the game he missed 2 but 1 was a big one on the goaline on the 1st sack of eli. most of the protection problems were unfortunately attributed to snee. I think coughlin was wrong for not putting Wilson back in the game, i'm all for sending a message about ball security but the second fumble there wasn't anything Wilson could do 3 guys had him and a 4th slipped in to rip it out. I'm all for bringing in a vet rb for next week but no matter who they bring it he won't know the playbook enough to make a difference so next week its still gotta be a Wilson-scott tandem.
The last 2 interceptions were on eli for bad throws, the 1st one was a great play by Ware. Secondary was great and they will need to be next week as well vs the broncos. DL was inconsistent, I give JPP a pass for thid being his 1st game and was facing a young talented left tackle in Smith. This inability to run on the goaline needs to be fixed asap,we suck at it because our olineman are drafted to be pullers not power guys so lets spread em out down there
and Myers had 7 catches for 66 yards. Our defense played pretty well, even though JPP was exhausted, and our best DB and MLB got knocked out of the game.
That's the end goal to clean it up. But we have issues and cob webs right now. The offense was sleeping all pre season and it carried over. They showed life, but the mistakes killed us. By the time we clean it up, I would hate to see us with a shitty record.
We need to win next week or it would be a hole to be down 0-2.
he would turn away from the Returner screaming get away get away...obviously the returner ran to the potential landing point oft he football...its obviously in front of him yes it bounced left and it sucked we didnt get the bounce but he ran a good 7 yards toward it as apposed to just running the other way or continuing down field
Is this team good enough to bounce back from an 0-2 start?
has practiced 2 weeks total during training camp coming off of back surgery.
Did anyone really expect him to just go out there and play well? He's basically had no training camp, his conditioning isn't there as a result, and he's coming off of back surgery.
It's going to take 3-4 weeks for him to really get in the swing of things
I think a healthy David Baas will help a lot. Not saying he's special, or that he deserves all that money any more than Chris Snee does. But our offensive line doesn't need to be special. They just need to be competent, which is exactly what Baas is.
of Peyton shredding Baltimore, Perry can walk a copy down to Killdrive to give him a couple suggestions. If the Giants went up tempo and utilized 10 and 11 personnel extensively, they could put up tons of points. The still try to utilize a power run game so freaking stubbornly when they dont have the personnel for it.
Eli basically said he saw Ware and was trying to squeeze the ball into Wilson on that very first interception/play. I assumed (as did Collinsworth) he didn't see him.
Snee and Boothe had trouble but the line wasn't that bad
I hate to diss the guy because he has been such a great Giants. But the fact that he was not asked to restructure is complete BS. And no way am I going to believe that his relationship with TC was not a one factor in that decision. Not the only factor but one factor.
Boothe and Snee is A gap. That's fucking bad when guys are coming right down the middle at you. You have a rookie on the right side, so if Eli steps up, which he tried, he got sacked. That's not good giving up pressure A gap.
That's spags's scheme which helped us. Attack A gap, blitz from the slot. We can't have guys pressuring us like that in the future.
is going to bounce when it hits the ground? What says if McBride runs down field, (which is the wrong way by the way) and it bounces that way, what would you say then? There is no way to know which way the ball bounces.

The Giants were awful, overall, and the Cowboys barely squeaked out the win at home, despite 6 takeaways.
If the Giants can clean some things up, they'll still have a shot to contend for the division.
Not a good sign in Big D. But hey, I hope they enjoy their victory.
We need to win next week or it would be a hole to be down 0-2.
Dallas was 5-15 on 3rd down - Giants 6/11.
Defense did pretty good considering the shithole they were placed in.
Before you commit suicide tonight consider those numbers.

Come on now.
I'm hitting the hay. Hopefully we've all calmed down a little bit tomorrow morning.
2-any vets salary would be guaranteed for the whole year and giants were/are tight against the cap and ojomo is cheap

As TC said in the post game, fumbles like Wilson's kill the momeentum and dishearten the team.
He can't be trusted at the moment and I'll trade playmaking ability for ball security in a game where the receiving corps is catching fire.
You can believe what ever you want.
